@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Yeah, saw that a few months ago

a fun thing to play is OrbitBot vs SmartArrow

I tried a test match with two userbots, and guess what, they defaulted to Righthanded Spasms :3
Match finished, score: 7 To 7.
Eclipse 2.1 stats: Broken Fixed, now at 40 mins left, 34.0 of 61.8 MB @ 10 KB/sec.

Internet speed: 9.72 Mb/sec (megabit per second).
9.72 Mb/sec!

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 why is your internet speed so volatile?

1:14 PM
That was a huge flash.
@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC shrug
That flash brought it to 38 mins left, 35.5 of 61.8 MB @ 11 KB/sec.
Internet speed: 1.31 Mb/sec (megabit per second).

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I made a bot that's not online yet - it's pretty good
What's duga @zʏᴀʙiɴ101

@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Duga is a female bot living in Code Review's main chat room, the 2nd Monitor.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 all of the assistants are female nowadays
our chatroom should have funny tags like CR

@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Some assistents, anyway.

s/some/a lot/

1:22 PM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 CR culture is 1000% different from PPCG culture

are you guys doing Project Euler? is it good?

just discovered it today

@TùxCräftîñg Did you sign up for that?

I heard of it several years ago but never tried it

1:23 PM
:(

I like how PPCG chat is just water cooler and most other site-wide chat rooms are just for support, help, or stuff related to the site

water cooler minus the cool water

do you submit code or output?

@aditsu output.
Because these are actually math problems that may be solved by computing.
You can do it by hand.
If you want...

1:28 PM
some are possible/easier by hand

so I can solve them in CJam if I want to :)

Congratulations, the answer you gave to problem 1 is correct.
\o/

Congratulations for your first problem, @TùxCräftîñg!
What's your friend code?

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 ?

@aditsu We share no problems :(

I haven't solved any, just registered

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 share?

1:33 PM
RSA Public keys or what? I'm confused

friend keys at Project Euler

let me solve a few..

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ There is a number of problems which I and one of my friends both have solved.
@TùxCräftîñg Welcome to my friend list! We share 1 solved problem.
These problems are marked with a green background and green text.

why don't they have a link to next problem? :/

@El'endiaStarman Sp apparently has solved more problems.
@Sp3000 We share 5 problems.

@aditsu Look at the arrow in the top right

Internet speed: 928.23 Kb/sec (kilobit per second).

ooh, thanks :)

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 you should plot a graph

I can't ping the speed test every minute.

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ I legitimately thought I forgot my PE credentials for the past year...

1:41 PM
Eclipse 2.1 download finished!

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 every five minutes?

Nope.
The speed test I use doesn't have any API, either.

stupid confirmation codes.. I keep getting them wrong :/

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 which one?
A wild @Phrancis appeared!
CrazyPython chose Gun!

"O HAI. IZ PHRANCIS!"

1:43 PM
@LegionMammal978 hmm, but they don't have the arrow on the "congratulations your answer is correct" page, where I need it most

He used shoot!

TIL filtermap

It was SUPER EFFECTIVE!

zyabin101 used Greet!
3
Heyyyyy @Phrancis
It's not very effective!

hi @Phrancis

1:44 PM
@TùxCräftîñg hope you didn't do that with your coffee

I have to go back and then click the arrow

do what?

LOL

@Phrancis used awkwardly say nothing!

ah i see xD

1:45 PM
It's not very effective...

@flawr You've got some catching up to do. I'm now at <2k world rank. Still only third in my city though.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Did you also get mindcontrolled by Pokémon Go?

GTFO, my wife started playing that a bit ago, now that's all she ever talks about xD

POKEMON GO IS EVERYWHERE

1:46 PM
Haven't tried it yet, I'm scared it will destroy my life

POKEMON GO IS BEHIND YOU
ASIDE OF YOU

Except me.
The fad is crazing me.
I won't play it.

me i cant play it.

I got tired enough of Pokemon (since 1998) to not care about playing a Pokemon game ever again

1:47 PM
1) i am in france 2) i am a nolife

^^^ The graph of @zʏᴀʙiɴ101's download speed over time

the only pokemon game i play is pokemon red on gameboy

@Phrancis You say that until you get the chance to catch a Pikachu in your backyard…

@LegionMammal978 Ohh :D

@LegionMammal978 zyabin should contact the internet provider

1:48 PM
@Fatalize I hate Pikachu >.>

halp why are all the PE problems so hard ;_;

@Phrancis To the pyre!

@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC My internet is normal, thanks.

I never played any pokemon and I still don't know what that crap is about :p

1:49 PM
problem 3:ok i give up

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 then my internet is quite weird

I solved 5 problems :)

@TùxCräftîñg I have 6, 16 and 20.

let's do 5 more..

ven
@TùxCräftîñg tons of people play it in france

1:50 PM
I may as well recommend them.

;_; I'm using all my willpower not to copy the answers for the first >100 questions

Now, I put the eclipse-SDK-2.1-win32.zip file in the root of drive X and unpack it.

dont use jelly dont use jelly dont use jelly

USE JELLY

ven
always use Jelly!

1:53 PM
@mınxomaτ Haha, I've played only about 5 times in meantime=)

15 chars jelly + some calculator

ok, problem 8 is getting interesting

ven
Dennis would only need 6 chars!
.oO( Always think first: What would Dennis do in this situation? )

I'm on PE 8 now, I think I almost have it almost done, though it's brute force. Couldn't think of any elegant way to solve it

1:56 PM
ah, it's 1D not 2D

@ven ( Dennis would put in all his knowldege in golfing. ) O o .

golfed down to 12 chars

@Phrancis I think the first few are quite brute-forcy

Re Tux: I'm pretty sure even CJam could do sub 15 for Q6 :P

@Phrancis And you, as always, would put your solution for review?

1:56 PM
xD

For code review.

@Sp3000 I did it in 16 but I'm not really trying to golf

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I don't put all of them for review, but this one could be a decent candidate

@Phrancis just saw you in CR

@aditsu I got 14 naively trying to golf so that's not too bad

1:59 PM
I officially run Eclipse 2.1!

@uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Yeah CR is my primary hangout :)

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 whyyy?!???

I'm interested in the older ones. :3

Ugh Eclipse :P

@Phrancis What, real programmers use no IDE? XD

2:01 PM
Real programmers use but... Sublime Text.

real programmers use butterflies

Real programmers use the appropriate IDE, as they should

@Fatalize i.e. Sublime Text

@MᴀʀsUʟᴛᴏʀ I said IDE, not garbage

Sublime is an IDE
JetBrains IDEs > Sublime > everything else

2:03 PM
The only sublime part of Sublime is the name

Chat mini-challenge: given a string and an index, return the word in the string around that index.

A word is defined by the regex `(?<![A-Za-z0-9_])[A-Za-z0-9_]+(?![A-Za-z0-9_])`

(for those of you who do not read regex, it means a string of alphanumeric characters including underscore not followed by and not preceded by another alphanumeric characters including underscore.)

IntelliJ IDEA by JetBrains is pretty much the best for Java

eclipse 4.5.2 here

^ Clean project

2:04 PM
@aditsu I need 1.8 for that.
I can't run 1.8.

Should I post it in main?

Eclipse 2.1 has help working sets. Working sets limit the available space, so they might be used, i.e; for removal of distracting projects.

I don't think it's necessary

(It is inspired by the feature of Windows which selects a portion of the text when double-clicked, but the specs are not exactly the same)

@LeakyNun needs examples

2:05 PM
1.6 should be enough

ven
@LeakyNun running the regexp is enough :c

So, 2.1 expands that to the Help Center, so you can throw away some items of the help away.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 No, just IntelliJ is a much better IDE for Java than Eclipse is ;P

@Fatalize if I post it in the main then I'll add examples
@ven the regexp will return every word, instead of the word around that index

@LeakyNun Post it to the Sandbox first

2:05 PM
@Phrancis I'm sure you can't add to it.

ven
@LeakyNun ah, yes, there's a second input

@Fatalize I'm just asking if there's any duplicate and if it will be a fun an interesting idea

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Sure you can

The help working sets affect search for help and the Help Center itself.
@Phrancis How? O_O

@LeakyNun I'm not really the best to recognize duplicates

2:06 PM
ok, finished 10 problems :)

What is the index of the first term in the Fibonacci sequence to contain 1000 digits?
i am sure that every approch will hang before returning a 1000 digit term

I haven't really digged for challenges that were posted before I joined

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I installed a plugin just the other day that added support for compiling Clojure code in IntelliJ

NetBeans is best ide

I've installed some plugin for Python as well a while back

2:07 PM
^^

Netbeans is the worst

@TùxCräftîñg On the contrary, I'm fairly sure I did that in Python the first time naively :P

Netbeans D:

even the name is ridiculous

@Sp3000 recursively?

2:08 PM
@TùxCräftîñg no

Iteratively, with a,b=b,a+b

._.
a am using this fibonnaci
from math import sqrt
def F(n):
    return ((1+sqrt(5))**n-(1-sqrt(5))**n)/(2**n*sqrt(5))

Er... I'd say float precision, but given the nature of the problem that probably doesn't matter

NetBeans doesn't perform great I'll grant you but managing builds and SVN is wayyy easier than in Eclipse
Also GUI builder

and way harder than in IntelliJ

2:09 PM
eww, SVN

Also built in Glassfish

I think we can at least all agree that Eclipse sucks.

no ^

IntelliJ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Eclipse >>> Netbeans (> Vim)

@Phrancis I disagree.
We should make a vote of what exactly rocks.

2:11 PM
lel I used Eclipse once for Android dev and I absolutely hated it. Luckily NB has a plugin for Android stuff

@quartata And luckily Android Studio is based on IntelliJ

^^ was about to say, Android Studio's pretty decent

No the oder versions were Eclipse

Of the official tools at least

2:12 PM
Android studio is not that old though that's true

I've been using Netbeans for almost 10 years I doubt I'm switching IDEs any time soon

Is "Maybe" a good answer to this featured poll for someone that hates featured polls, is indifferent to No Man's Sky and just wants to get access to the rest of Straw Poll?

wtf is that?

ah, some kind of game

ven
> (->$text,$idx {($text ~~ m:g:P5/(?<![A-Za-z0-9_])[A-Za-z0-9_]+(?![A-Za-z0-9_])/).grep({((.from)..(.to)).ACCEPTS($idx)})})('abc def ghi', 0)

(「abc」)

TL;DR: Open world heavily realistic scifi MMO game.

ven
2:18 PM
(that's Perl 6, btw. But using the Perl 5 regex modifier)

@ven try ('abc def ghi',4)

I hope it comes to PC

just to prove it
and you can golf your code more

ven
@LeakyNun (「def」)

nice

ven
2:19 PM
not interested in golfing it more :)

why the strange-looking quotation mark?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'm still indifferent to it.

ven
@LeakyNun Match object.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 wasn't talking to you

oh hey it is coming to pc

2:20 PM
alright

ven
That's the way regexes work in Perl 6: when you match a regex, you get a Match object, that has some properties like from, to, orig, etc. (as well as means to convert to Str, Int, etc)

what about ('abc def ghi',5)?

All right just pray that it doesn't use dx11

ven
> (->$text,$idx {($text ~~ m:g:P5/(?<![A-Za-z0-9_])[A-Za-z0-9_]+(?![A-Za-z0-9_])/).grep({(.from..^.to).ACCEPTS($idx)})})('abc def ghi', 5)

(「def」)

and you can golf it further

ven
2:20 PM
1 min ago, by ven
not interested in golfing it more :)

alright

Aside from the regex it already is pretty well golfed. Those spaces are mandatory because perl 6 sucks

Heard that game got delayed until like December didn't it?

not sure
i'm honestly not sure what will happen

@quartata I see

2:23 PM
I don't have the money to buy it outright anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me.

ven
@quartata well, "thanks". I disagree that Perl 6 sucks, though. But it's surely not best for golfing :P
->$text,$idx {($text~~m:g:P5/(?<![A-Za-z0-9_])[A-Za-z0-9_]+(?![A-Za-z0-9_])/).grep:{.from..^.to .ACCEPTS: $idx}})
That's the most I can golf it without changing the regex. I'd like to use ~~ instead of a manual .ACCEPTS:, but ~~ sets the topic, so...

Eclipse 2.1 finally switched to Courier New. +1 (-_-)b

Uh, No Man's Sky will not have multiplayer? That's disheartening...

And its Package Explorer works! \o/

@ven can you test abc def abc,9?

ven
2:31 PM
(「ghi」)

ghi is not even in the text

ven
ah sorry
i didn't see you changed the input text. it prints abc

nice
@ven try abc def ghi,5

ven
empty.

and try abc def ghi,3

ven
2:34 PM
also empty.

nice

Q: Bot for Spacewar PPCG KotH

uoɥʇʎPʎzɐɹCI wrote a bot for a Programming Puzzles & Code Gold King of the Hill type of challenge called "Spacewar!". The challenge was written by @El'endiaStarman. The bot is called "Spy". The controller is hosted here, so take a look for the feel. The API is a bit long, so here's a link. The bot's logi...

i give up for the problem 59

@TùxCräftîñg I just did some hand-analysis

2:46 PM
I'm making a download site for 2.1 :D

2:59 PM
@VTCAKAVSMoACE I looked at the changes you made to the minecraft house. Nice work.
