Shakespeare: "... that fuck up thy venom/And heavy-gaited toads, lie in their way/..."

@LeakyNun does it say that input must always be fruitful ?
like there is no input without output ?

Just use all the testcases? I'm not sure what you mean
Maybe use an example to demonstrate what you mean?

@LeakyNun That's actually the word "suck"

@PhiNotPi You must be fun at parties

It's called the long s: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_s

3:03 PM
@LeakyNun i think it is fine !

@Agawa001 then post it?

@LeakyNun i thought i missed some rules
gosh, i missed things
i ll take care of it after dinner

What does 2**(-2**(-2**(-2**(.... converge to?

Let it converge to x
Then x = 2**(-x)

@LeakyNun Uh what

3:13 PM

....and then...?

From graphical method, x ~ 0.6412
(this equation has no closed form solution, unless you use the W function)
x = 2**-x
x*2**x = 1

Let x = y/ln2

(y/ln2)*e**y = 1
y*e**y = ln2
y = W(ln2)

omegawright

no, double-u

it is the Wright function !!

3:18 PM
I wrote a Brainfuck interpreter in CJam! It is quite tiny.
6
lq3e4Vca*@{"-<[],.+>"#"T1$T=(t T(:T; { _T=}g \0+(@T@t _T=o "_'(')er+S/=}%s~@

also, x = W(ln2)/ln2 ~ 0.641185744504985984486200482114823666562820957191101755139698797543487491878799‌762234053693499168588592333075916956586016162387076667327631791628604519579628893‌893669246503033609748826842219643704483597704216867575963173086480094064186866290‌936395854310757476685260054601791437676166136686484768979009484879655791836369067‌585912206473562473012848175322498163862933748709196679524466347948037112686996172‌119468390964010178078

Good! Now write a Brainfuck IDE in CJam!

@LeakyNun i dont see the point of making random rules like this

@Agawa001 Which rule are you referring to?

why does the function output nothing when two square-values occur of same weight ?
this is so random

3:20 PM
accept it

my function works fine until this point

doesn't your function have something like if length output > 2 output nothing?

my function generates ONE output
:)
this is the charm of maths

well...

3:46 PM
@LeakyNun for every thing there is a remedy, fixed it with moooore bits

@orlp nailed it

@Agawa001 lien?

@quartata You it is nailed to the Bing.
:P

@Suever Why can't I find my name in your leaderboard?

@LeakyNun I hadn't updated the Question ID when I first posted it. Should be updated now. Sorry about that

3:50 PM
@Upgoat Could you please come to the zyabinVI beta room?

@Suever I can see it now, thanks!
@Agawa001 Why is it still deleted?

just hold
im doing all testcases

oh ok

@LeakyNun I hate random pings

@Bálint Sorry :p

3:57 PM
@LeakyNun I'm curious why it worked, my name definitely doesn't start with "bal"
And why wasn't bald banthana pinged instead of me

@Bálint accents are treated as nothing

@l <- Did this ping you?
@le
@leaky

@Bálint min 3 chars.
@B

@zyabin101 leaky doesn't ping it either
@zya

@Bálint leaky pings me

3:58 PM
@Lea

@Lea

@bin
doesn't work
@zya
works

@Lea works, if I temporarily show your posts.

I see
What's wrong today
18 hours without a post

There's only me and banthana, who share their first 3 letters on the chat?

4:02 PM
@geo

Oh yes, that too
Was banthana pinged too?

You would have to ask her

her?

well, him then (I've no idea)

@BaldBantha

4:27 PM
@LeakyNun done! take a look at my magic

@Agawa001 Why are there 4 initial spaces?

satisfies all test cases, without even checking a weight of square value
@LeakyNun I dont know what that means !

Why are there 4 spaces (" ") at the beginning?

no please

4:31 PM
8/10 no jquery?

@LeakyNun i always forget the number od spaces needed to tabulate the code

@Agawa001 Just press Ctrl+K :)

@LeakyNun the stringbonacci one? I wast planning on it. Unless you think it would be a good one.

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ Well, why wouldn't it be good?

Well, congrats @Sp3000 for winning a T-Shirt.

4:34 PM
Idk, it's pretty simple. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

@Quill index.js? Ughh...

@LeakyNun if u see deep in my code, there is no for loop, neither recursivity
@Jakube heb did ?

@Jakube Sp3000 won a T-Shirt?

google-jam ?

Yep

4:35 PM
@Agawa001 I suppose b is the number square... other than that I don't know how it works at all

@Jakube Thanks :) I wish I could figure out how to calculate red tape's probability efficiently, but I gave up and bashed out the easy ones instead

@LeakyNun pure maths
@Sp3000 google_jam ?

Code Jam, yeah

@Sp3000 congrats..

Submitted a brute-force solution for C-small in the last minute.

4:37 PM
@Agawa001 Is there no a+=2?

@Sp3000 and now you will wear that tshirt 7/7 24/24
@LeakyNun what do u mean ?

I epic-failed (T_T) ( ╯°□°)╯ ┻━━┻

@Agawa001 Does a+=2 do anything at all?

Is anyone here familiar with wordpress?

I had a stupid bug for C, fixed it almost at the last minute, and it was still wrong

4:38 PM
@LeakyNun nah, not in matlab

oh, ok

there is things which must be golfed, conditions and repetitive rounding and modulating
i used mod and fix atleast 5 times for each

@Lynn I wrote one too, I think yours is shorter

Just asked a friend about B large - he said he calculated product (px+(1-p)) for each probability, then found the coefficient of x^n
And here I was trying to get an explicit formula :/

It would be fun to compare them, @aditsu

4:40 PM
but im still proud of myself, i did nothing such an array of combinations or recursivity

@Sp30000 congratulations on reaching a T-Shirt!

@Upgoat Ish.

if i had this tshirt i would wear it even when i sleep

Everyone of the "Friends of PPCG" in the contest was eliminated.

I have two Wordpress blogs but I haven't done a lot beyond writing and posting.

4:41 PM
Thank you so much for playing.

@zyabin101 can haz leaderboard?

@El'endiaStarman okay, well I have a subdomain at blog.vihan.org but for some reason wordpress seems to think it's at www.vihan.org so all urls are set to the wrong subdomain, hence, causing everything to be borked. Would you know how to fix this?

@aditsu I lost Firefox, and as such, the leaderboard bookmarklet.
It'll take time for recover.

@Agawa001 I just found the gem of your solution....

@LeakyNun i am writing an explanation right now, maybe you can golf it further using ur language

4:43 PM
oh

I don't think it would be shorter using a closed form solution
brute force always is the shortest

not always

@Lynn one version is: 0a3e4*:A;q:I;_"><+-.,[]"--'>/"T):T;"*'</"T(:T;"*'+/"ATAT=)t:A;"*'-/"ATAT=(t:A;"*‌'./"AT=co"*',/"I{I(i\:I;}0?AT@t:A;"*'[/"AT=g{{"*']/"AT=g}g}*"*~

@Upgoat Hmm. Probably not. :/

I think I wrote it before implementing w

4:44 PM
@El'endiaStarman ok then... back to bing google...

@LeakyNun look i will explain to u here before getting to action

Q: Alternating Sign Sequence

AdnanIntroduction The sign of a number is either a +, or a - for every non-zero integer. Zero itself is signless (+0 is the same as -0). In the following sequence, we are going to alternate between the positive sign, the zero and the negative sign. The sequence starts with 1, so we write 1 with a pos...

Holy, a new question!!!!!

any square can be written as 11(b+c)+2(a*10+d)

the weights of (a,d) are (1,4)
now
keep an eye with me

Everyone of the "Friends of PPCG" in the contest was eliminated.
See you on the code jam next year or so :'(

the amount stored in (a,d) is maximal

@zyabin101 there's GDCJ tomorrow

4:47 PM
and if we subtract values from (ad) , they must be multiples of 11
are u with me @LeakyNun

@Agawa001 yes, please continue

since they are multiples of 11

@aditsu Good! Who's participating?

the weigh is 4+1 = 5

@Sp3000, @Jakube, @TheNumberOne and you, right?

4:48 PM
@zyabin101 I think everybody from round 2 can participate

while the weight of (b,c) is 2+3=5

@aditsu Yes, they can.

I'll do it
first I have to find out how it works :p

but rather then adding the weight to both b, and c, we just add it two times to the value with lower weight
it means b
adding even value to b until it reaches 9 or 8 then we must stop
we dont want a weight of 3

@Agawa001 Why don't you just post your explanation there?

4:50 PM
im lazy iv done hard work matching my equation to all test cases
i will add it tomorrow

ok

Shit! There was one wrong number in my solution for C-small.
Well, still wouldn't have been in the top 1000. But it would have been really close.

@LeakyNun it can be shorter up to more than half if those nonesensical conditions are omitted

@Agawa001 I see..

5:00 PM
Should my golfing language auto print what's left on the stack, or not?

@Bálint A few other golfing languages do do that. Usually saves a byte or two.

It would save 3 if I add it, but it would add +1 byte if not needed

ohai @RenderSettings

@zyabin101 hallow

@RenderSettings hayyy

5:07 PM
@zyabin101 oh man did you see the new docs? urbit.org
they presented at lambdaconf yesterday, less-unlaunched

YAAAAAY! Finally new docs \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/
@RenderSettings They have so-called Posts instead of docs. They also have comments.
The comments are anonymous and presented as comments from users which have names resembling Urbit addresses. :3
Wait... They also have new docs.

nah, they have docs too. check the "develop" tab

@RenderSettings ninja'd

and yeah, the docs are hosted on an urbit. you can treat web clients talking to your ship as throw-away comets, so you dont need special handling for web vs. hoon endpoints :D

I failed C small because I put 2 arguments in the wrong order in one place
it was still not enough to get anything though

5:23 PM
@VTCAKAVSMoACE nice minecraft applescript thing.
Make one that doesn't need mc cheats.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Thanks. ;)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Yeah, no

why not? you don't have to though

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ AppleScript in Minecraft? o_O

Ooh, Urbit docs!

@Lynn Yes, Urbit docs!

@RenderSettings: This Urbit server seems really slow and irresponsive. >.>
Lots of little loading icons.

@Lynn -._(._.)_.-
@Lynn In creation, yes.
Lots of the time especially go to talking with %ames in an unknown language and downloading files over Urbit itself. Oh, and 2GB of memory, either physical or swap, is required.
It won't be used fully, however, just that it has to be available at the time.
Are you going to create a new urbit?
I wish to, but I don't have enough resources available.
At home, there's only one gigabyte of memory, which isn't enough for an Ubuntu virtual machine.
At Dad's home, there's a PC with four gigs, just that it isn't always available, and two gigs for an Ubuntu VM is already half of the memory.
And swap is really inefficient.
I could have an Urbit instance on C9, but that's not fair, as we know. ;)
-._(._.)_.-
Currently having my own urbit is only a dream in my head.
@Lynn I'm interested, are you going to create your own Urbit?

Ahh, well, I’m more interested in Hoon/Nock than in Urbit itself.

5:42 PM
@Lynn Arvo?

Sure.

Why are you guys talking about my bit?
4

Hoon is like... it’s so cute? Everything about Urbit is really cute.
I think Curtis Yarvin creeps me out too much to get too involved.

lol
I think @Lynn and @RenderSettings found a common interest.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Urbit?
"Yeah!"

5:48 PM
I'm looking for: a) Someone with a deep understanding of multithreaded (P)NaCl/PPAPI apps with file I/O and b) someone with experience in asm.js with high memory (>3GiB) requirements (akin to Epic Citadel) to join an open source project in a few weeks. If you're interested (and you are familiar with compression), drop me a mail: squarecode@web.de :-)

> Someone with a deep understanding of multithreaded (P)NaCl/PPAPI apps
Count me OUT.

@Upgoat CHEDDAR WEBSITE IS DOWN
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ yeah, I'm moving my server

oh
from/to where?

5:52 PM
locally (from my mac mini on the corner of my desk) to remote VPS

lol
yeah, probably a good idea. :P

Hey, for those of you that golf on your phone, do you have any recommendations for keyboards that allow for easy input of extended/unprintable ASCII?

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ no

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ there are no good ones :(

solution: use JS which doesn't have any weird unprintable chars

5:56 PM
Haha, that's a good one. ^
:P

@Upgoat that's not a good reason >_>

Really? I feel like I've even seen jelly answers from phones before.
And jelly is the king of weird characters

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ I copied the whole code page of jelly into a memo
also, I found that my keyboard has some of those extended characters
in particular, I never knew that the single quotation mark also contained the backtick

Wow. That's some dedication right there.

@Upgoat Could you please join the zyabinVI beta room?

6:03 PM
@zyabin101 at the moment I'm a bit busy working on getting my server back up and running again, maybe in like an hour though :/

Okay :/

Do you ever sleep @zyabin101? You seem to be here whenever I come by ಠ_ಠ

@Upgoat so what would you use instead of Array.from?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ [...array]
or even better ::

okay, give me an example of ::

6:09 PM
@flawr I do ಠ_ಠ

e.g. document.querySelectorAll("div")::[].map(div => console.log(div));

that doesn't work in firefox :p

6:14 PM
;_; my vps ran out of ram

@Upgoat Virtual Privacy Society?

Virtual Private Server

Societies have no ram.

idk if 512MB was enough for centos7

@Upgoat How do you even get just 512MB ?
2

6:19 PM
@mınxomaτ ?
I can always resize to 1GB though

@Upgoat i would propose a name for u, what do u think about closegoat

What do you pay for that?

@mınxomaτ 5 bucks a month.

@Upgoat ovh.ie/vps/vps-ssd.xml $ 3.3 gets you 2G RAM and a 100/100 connection.
Completely dedicated servers start at 2G and $ 5.56 per month: kimsufi.com/en/servers.xml

@mınxomaτ yeah, but I've heard due to the number of people using OVH latency is not so hot

6:22 PM
@Upgoat I use them privately and we use them commercially without any problems.

@mınxomaτ idk, but there must be some catch to having such a cheap vps

@Upgoat No, simply bigger market share means lower prices

@Upgoat wait wtf
512 mb is probably less than your computer on your desk. >_>

@Bálint if that was completely true then domains would be $1

6:24 PM
@Upgoat *Relatively

@Upgoat No, not really. You need to understand how datacenters work ;-)
These servers are sold when a larger contractor de-allocates a few servers. So now they have 1-5 servers at a time that can't be sold, because on their own, they are not powerful enough for relevant clients.

@mınxomaτ ._. well I'm stuck with digitalocean for a month... idk if it'll be a pain in the but to transfer everything to OVH if I switch

@Upgoat Install whatever OS -> do whatever you want. How painful that is depends entirely on you :P

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ 512 MB is, surprisingly, more than enough for hosting web sites that don't get huge amounts of traffic. Mainly that's because users aren't running typical software that needs plenty of RAM.
Heck, for my websites, the disk usage and bandwidth usage can both be measured in megabytes.

@Upgoat Here are some stats from one of my own OVH Kimsufi servers:

@mınxomaτ :/ I'd have to reinstall apache, and set it up again, and the same with wordpress

Installing apache is fairly easy. The other problem: Don't use wordpress.
Do you just need webhosting?
(i.e. PHP+SQL)?

@El'endiaStarman true

@mınxomaτ no, I'll also be doing websocket stuff.

@Upgoat can you just put it back up already

@Upgoat Can you please come to the zyabinVI beta room? >_>

6:43 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ sure, just gimme the thing to put in the dns

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ (and @zyabin101) Patience, young padawans.

@El'endiaStarman I know, elder padawan.

@zyabin101 Have you seen any of the Star Wars movies? (In particular, I'm paraphrasing a quote from one of the prequels.)

@El'endiaStarman o_o I didn't.

@El'endiaStarman A trillion bytes is one trilobyte, right?

6:46 PM
@mınxomaτ wordpress ? is this called a hosted website?

@zyabin101 101 == VI?

@Agawa001 wat

@Optimizer Nope.

@flawr Bahaha.

It's just a number that I got from my mind.

6:48 PM
101 != VI ...

101_2 = VI_roman - 1_10

@El'endiaStarman yeah but for some reason my website is still crashing due to out of RAM >_>

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ no it does not

lol

6:51 PM
@Upgoat Huh. I'm fairly sure my shared hosting account only has 512 MB, maybe 1 GB of RAM.
And I have Wordpress on there too.
