7:04 PM
silence persists.

@Solver It doesn't.

Everyone is stuck in the recursion.

life oozes from the silence.

Search failed. Maybe you meant: recursion

@mınxomaτ whats with the small resolution?

Comments on this before I post it?

Seems good. A little more explanation concerning the algorithm, maybe?

I'll add a worked example.

@muddyfish Well, you can do functional programming with Python. Python is pretty paradigm-free.

@trichoplax I worked out how to do it
I ended up raising a custom exception and doing stuff if it was the first AST
ugly but it worked

and probably more pretty than the other stuff i suggested
@zyabin101 lastest time or earliest time?

@muddyfish Earliest.

@zyabin101 Morning for me is "after I wake up". :P

@El'endiaStarman to the point where you need to rely on tail call optimisation ;)

@El'endiaStarman So, variable? You can put in multiple votes for multiple times.

7:25 PM
what if he wakes up after 12 though?

But only one vote per user agent/IP pair.

or at 4am?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Example added.

@zyabin101 my choice is not listed there

@Zgarb Looks great!

7:29 PM

@El'endiaStarman Well let us start with the 4d one.

@flawr Miegakure is 4D, and I cannot wait until it comes out! :D

> I know of Jake Weary, a superman that does everything. He should be able to solve your problem.

@mınxomaτ Poor guy. :P

@El'endiaStarman Yeah, I just wanted to say that I'm looking forward to the release=)
And that I first want to play the 4d game before the 24d game.

7:31 PM
hahaha, of course
Incidentally, there's a 5D Rubik's Cube program somewhere on the internet.

@El'endiaStarman Magic Cube 5D

Yeah, that.

@El'endiaStarman Also a 4d one, but I am perfectly happy with my 3d one.

@flawr Haha, same. :P

7:33 PM
@flawr Magic Cube 4D

@El'endiaStarman Have you heard about my recent development on Phigs? (I've pretty much bailed on my "Phi's New Language" project.)

@PhiNotPi Yep, I've read the transcript.
@PhiNotPi A golfing language is certainly much, much easier to parse... :P

I've already gotten some simple "lists" to work in it.

When your family is quite confused why you are more excited at the USB sticks than the video games you got in the mail... :P
@El'endiaStarman 0/10 much harder than 4d.

7:37 PM
@El'endiaStarman I can solve a 3D rubiks cube!

@El'endiaStarman Neither do I, but I started appreciating latices as integer rings over algebraic number fields. (Algebraic number theory is really cool=)

I can solve a 2D rubiks cube.

@PhiNotPi What do you consider a 2D rubiks cube?

@PhiNotPi Well done! I can't! :P

It's a square, with each side being made of 3 colored segments.
You can rotate the whole thing clockwise or counterclockwise.

7:40 PM
@flawr I think this is a 2d rubiks cube:

That's an entirely different type of puzzle, though.

@Downgoat Usually called 'sliding' puzzle, or this particular one 14-15puzzle or just 15 puzzle=)

ok, so sliding puzzle = 2d rubiks cube?

7:42 PM
would this be a 2d rubiks cube:

In case anyone else is interested in mechanical puzzles: reddit.com/r/mechanicalpuzzles

That's a 3D 2x2x1 cube. :P

I'm still trying to promte this subreddit as it is not hugely popular.

@flawr twisty puzzle == mechanical puzzle?

hi @flawr

7:43 PM
@Downgoat They are mechanical puzzles, but twisty puzzles are usually one big subcategory.

oh ok

In Cheddar, should preset built-ins such as range and Pi be un-overrideable?
@El'endiaStarman please make a 3d rendering this is very hard to visualize :P

@Downgoat But then it wouldn't be 2D anymore! :P

@El'endiaStarman Mini-challenge: given a diagram of a 2D rubiks cube, return the optimal move sequence to solve it.

@PhiNotPi []

@zyabin101 Indonesia has an interesting system for this. "pagi" is 6 to 10, "siang" is 10 to 3, "sore" is 3 to 6, and "malam" is "night"

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ so they should be read-only?

7:46 PM
Since figuring out general sun position is easier than figuring when solar noon is

@Downgoat I like the idea of redefining variables :P

@MartinBüttner That was fast.

:/

for i=1:10; j=j+i; end
^ this is valid matlab code
(overriding available)

7:46 PM
@PhiNotPi I already golfed it while it was in the sandbox, sorry.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ 2/10 I think his cube is rigged, doesn't work for me :/

@Optimizer Not november 1st?
@Downgoat same... KILL HIM

O_O

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ ummmm

Q: Implement strong encryption in a game of Magic

SoniEx2This is a bit of an unusual programming challenge, as it involves programming a bit of an unusual kind of hardware... That hardware is Magic: the Gathering. Magic: the Gathering is turing-complete, which means you can do all sorts of stuff with it, including implementing strong encryption. The ...

Q: Draw an indexed fractal

ZgarbIntroduction In this challenge, a 2×2 matrix is indexed like this: 0 1 2 3 We define a family of fractal-like patterns F(L), where L is a length-n list of these indices and F(L) has size 2n-1 × 2n-1. If L == [], then F(L) is the 1×1 pattern #. If L != [], then F(L) is constructed as follows...

7:49 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ did marky possess your body?

@Zgarb speaking of golfing while in the sandbox, how long do you want me to wait before posting my CJam answer? :P

@MartinBüttner 2.3 micro seconds.
not more than that

@MartinBüttner Go ahead, @Dennis will out-golf you with Jelly anyway.

he would even outgolf me with CJam...

24 hours ago, by Downgoat
does anyone here have use heroku before?
pls

7:51 PM
in fact I suspect he would be able to outgolf me with Python...

@Downgoat i have has used

@Maltysen really??

@Downgoat You should have a room for Cheddar, like most langs do (like UGL).

yeah
@zyabin101 wasn't the name changed to goat cheese?

@Maltysen pls help
I am trying to push but nothing works

7:52 PM
@Downgoat does the push command giving you errors, or does it complete?

one sec, run it...

@MartinBüttner he would outgolf you in Java too

@Downgoat on which name did you decide?

probably

it can't find grunt but it should!
@Maltysen ^^

7:53 PM
idk never used node

@MartinBüttner In fact, he would outgolf you in every language possible for him.

but in python you need a requirements.txt

it swallowed grunt with a gulp

does that apply with node?

@Maltysen I do
I have a package.json
{
  "name": "Cheddar",
  "version": "0.2.0",
  "devDependencies": {
    "babel-preset-es2015": "^6.6.0",
    "grunt": "^1.0.1",
    "grunt-cli": "^1.2.0",
    "grunt-babel": "^6.0.0",
    "load-grunt-tasks": "^3.5.0"
  },
  "scripts": {
    "postinstall": "grunt"
  }
}

7:54 PM
@Downgoat global install it

@Optimizer I can't

then you can't do that

but it automatically adds node_modules/.bin to $PATH

scripts run script on the node shell
depen.. is for your code

:28907453 no, otherwise grunt doesn't get installed

7:55 PM
yeah node…?

@Optimizer what does that mean?

@Downgoat it doesnt do that for me.. and it shouldn't.. otherwise, there is no difference between normal install and global install

@Optimizer adding that to $PATH is a heroku thing

ok
still wrong

but why isn't npm install installing the dependencies is what is weird

7:57 PM
Node? I can help!

@Solver pls
have you used Heroku before?

wait a sec...
nope.
But if it's a node only problem I can still help.
(i really want to be helpful for once)

you can't solve his issue?

@Solver oh, it's a heroku problem :/

aww.

7:59 PM
guess its time to change your name..
