@IGoBest Seriously? I'm so dosappointed in you.

Next command:

@Doorknob Wow. The groan factor dosan't get worse than that...

:D

@EasterlyIrk -1 not golfy enough

1:03 AM
#! /bin/rm
use the shebang to remove itself :p

You can golf out the space between the #! and the /bin.

Man, I was just doing awesome in Game Dev Tycoon then ended up releasing a really bad game for the G64 the same day the G64 people went bankrupt ;_;
Lost liek 10% of my fans

All opposed, ...don't.

The challenge was in the sandbox for 2 days and no one said anything...

1:16 AM
At least it wasn't 4 months. ಠ_ಠ

I now think we might need a new sandbox system.

More like we need incentives for people to review other peoples' Sandbox posts.

I'm not sure what system changes would prevent this sort of thing. The sandbox isn't, and isn't intended to be, a guarantee.

It's more like asking your friends to proofread your work. They might catch some stuff, but in the end there's no guarantee that they caught it all.

1:21 AM
@VoteToClose Oh, your question about the whitespace reminded me
Hoon has two different syntaxs: tall form and wide form
I've been submitting wide form, which needs () for grouping of runes
Tall form uses two spaces in between expressions...or newlines
So technically, tall form is cheaper
It would just look completely disgusting

@RenderSettings See: perl

like, instead of `~&(a $(a +(a)))` it could just be `~&
a
$(a +(a))`
err, an extra space after that first a on the second line
since newlines are only one byte, it's better since it doesnt need matching parens

(just hit arrow up 3 times after clicking in the chat box)

thanks :p
I assume it's better to not look insane than to shave off every single byte with newlines after each rune

Umm... no, shortness is everything.

1:25 AM
That really depends on the purpose of the language. If it's made to golf, golf it :P

I was afraid of that...

Purse Dog meets Angry Duck.

ಠ_ಠ My disapproval cannot be summed to a single emoticon.

Hmm, that's weird. Avatars in oneboxes seem to blur.

1:27 AM
Woah, now that you mention it, yeah.

Huh.

@VoteToClose (ノ ゜Д゜)ノ ︵ ┻━┻

@VoteToClose Blame whoever originally said the "if you want to talk bad about Vitsy, now's your chance". I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise :P

@Dennis So ... you're saying that now is an appropriate time to badmouth Vitsy? ;-)

Feb 22 at 18:26, by Dennis
@TimmyD There never has been and never will be a better time.
See? My comment was mod-vetted >_>

Knowing nothing about the language, I went shallow and made fun of the name. And it ended up working perfectly :D

I personally don't understand what's wrong with a purse dog.
Toy dogs are generally cute.
I especially like pugs.

I used to have a pug. It was no purse dog, though.
Too, umm, stocky for that >_>

I need a better PC. I'm waiting 10s on average in my C# solution for the context menu to open after a right-click.

1:38 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ You keep using that word; I do not think it means what you think it means...

WTF. Don't have two SE chats open at once... At least in my browser it caused a ping noise loop that scared the crap out of me

@IGoBest that is true >_>

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ bai

@GamrCorps I have two Chrome windows with SE chats in tabs.
Never had such a ping noise loop.

Yea, I don't remember that ever happening to me either, and I sometimes have it open on two PCs, much less two tabs.

1:40 AM
Well I have chrome and it just happened again. Maybe its because I use Canary

Or maybe it's because you use chrome

nah

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Except two other people just chimed in who use Chrome ;)

I can only dream of a ping noise loop... I get no ping sound at all.

You didn't turn off the ping sound, did you?

1:41 AM
@feersum Speaker problem?

No, it's on.

@VoteToClose Done.

I got new speakers since the ping noise stopped working, but no change.

@feersum Just checking; I've worked in IT :P

@feersum Look in the Dev console if anything failed.

1:41 AM
I'm stupid. Just realized Calvin changed his username....

There's a single "no element found" message

Throw a periodic table at it.

Make sure it is updated though

@feersum: Raise it on Meta.SE? I didn't get pinged for a month because I put off reporting the bug for that long.

Meh, pissing into the wind.

1:45 AM
Do it sideways and you'll have no problem.

@feersum ( ಠ _ ಠ )

Doing it into the wind is fine if you don't mind getting a little wet.

@AlexA. :/

@Maltysen ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Does anyone else here use Chrome Canary?

1:49 AM
@AlexA. ಠ_ಠ

@AquaTart ( ಠ ͜ʖಠ)

Quick question: would a cat program be valid if a certain character (say, a space) couldn't appear in the input?
@feersum same here

@GamrCorps I used to, but now I have ubuntu

Oh hey, the Beta label in chat is gone!

o ya

1:55 AM
yep

@Maltysen yeah I'm considering going back to normal. There has been a lot of unstable builds recently.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ No

@AlexA. darn >:|
@Alex does this pass?

I can't really tell what's happening

The input is on the bottom right; the characters I type go to the thing.

Look what I found, @Doorknob :D

> image not found

I see it
that's... interesting

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ If it's reading input and writing it out without restrictions on the input, then yes.

@AlexA. /...\` loops until (basically) EOF, d` moves the pointer right, i places input, and r sets the pointer's shape to the current cell.
@AlexA. Cool! My only question was if that would be acceptable output format, sorry for the ambiguity

What's the output format?

2:08 AM
The playfield.

The what >.>

that black thingy

y u no make command line version of your language

That's your language's equivalent of STDOUT?

Which one???
@AlexA. I think so? There's no other way to output things...

2:09 AM
Then yeah, it's legit. That's why we say "STDOUT or closest alternative."

Oh, right, d'oh.
Thanks!

np bb

G'night!

2:19 AM
@Doorknob Does an MC server count as a command line version?

@VoteToClose no

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do you change the language of a codeblock on SO?

@mınxomaτ What is Space.us?

It says what it is on the root page. It's closed beta.

@mınxomaτ ooo how'd you get such special access?!?!

@AlexA. holy shit

2:27 AM
Right?!

@phase I'm providing some resources, mainly the frontend hosting.
@AlexA. Pretty cool!

I'd say it's a bit more than "pretty cool" :P

It's okay I guess

Reminds me of that one challenge that claimed it couldn't be answered in BF and immediately received a BF answer.

2:30 AM
@AlexA. ehh, kinda neat

link?

@Doorknob I've seen better

@Doorknob BF-like languages are perceived more difficult to use than they are.

Well, oOo CODE isn't BF-like; it's pretty much just BF

Is it?

2:32 AM
^^

The space.us logo looks eerily similar to the VLC logo.

@AlexA. A little nifty

@AlexA. yes
A 1:1 translation.

anyone near campbell area?

Depends. Which Campbell is this?

2:33 AM
the soup

camp bell

I like how you used Brainfuck even though the question said that was impossible. — Riking Jan 4 '14 at 1:09
@IGoBest That's the under construction animation. The logo is the favicon (afaik).

Yea... I kinda realized that after I posted that comment. Decided if I stayed quiet about it nobody would notice >_>
1/5 Did not work

4/10, all scores are out of 10

2:36 AM
2/5 most online rating systems I see are out of 5

4/7 the internet can't count

0/10 would not rhyme again

too late

@IGoBest For what it's worth, I was bemused as to why they would include VLC's logo on their page...
Didn't occur to me that it might be an "under construction" thing because those kinds of pages are so rare nowadays.

It really does look that way. I guess you can blame VLC for choosing a weird logo, though.

2:39 AM
2016 - the year when traffic cones are more widely known as a media player logo instead of actual construction sites.
13

hahaha

Oddly enough, I don't really remember ever seeing actual cones striped like that.
A stripe at the top maybe, but not the wide, equal-sized ones like on the logo.

UK traffic cone.

Yeah, most traffic/construction cones I've seen were just plain orange.

trying again:

2:42 AM
Why is there a dash at the beginning.

It's like a signature thing

for my homepage keyboardfire.com

@Doorknob Big or standard. Basically all the other ones are pretty much unreadable.

Drop the dash, looks better without

2:43 AM
@IGoBest costume? o.o
@El'endiaStarman lots of them are much better with line-height: 1.0

@Doorknob Well, I guess you wouldn't have to worry about being run over >_>

@El'endiaStarman Is this any better?
That's with line-height set to 1.0

@IGoBest I often worry about this

@Doorknob Much better, yes.

@Doorknob I like small in addition to the ones mentioned earlier. Slant isn't bad, but not great.
@AlexA. Can't you just fly out of the way?

2:51 AM
@AlexA. getting run over while wearing a traffic cone costume?

@IGoBest Not always fast enough
@Maltysen Yes

@Doorknob My preferences: standard, big, slant, small, in that order.

@AlexA. Stop golfing your movements, you'll go faster.

I prefer Brownian motion
Takes a while to get where I need to go though

What can Brownian do for you?

2:53 AM
lel
They can deliver packages in nondeterministic time
