That feeling when your naïve implementation for is reasonably competitive.

I wonder how my parallelized sieve of Sundaram fares.
It'd do terrible since it's not meant for finding primes but rather factoring composites.

SE is offline.
well, done now. :P

THE END IS NIGH!

did chat just go down?!

Wait, it's still up for me.

3:10 AM
@Doorknob yes.
SE as a whole was down for maitenence.

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

J AtkinRe-flow a paragraph code-golf Sometimes it is very useful to reformat a paragraph so that it wraps at a given width. Your challenge is to write a program that does this in the fewest bytes possible. How re-flow works Basically you split a string at all whitespace chars (space, tab, newline), ...

I COULDN"T GET GOLFING HALP.

@EasterlyIrk Yes, but typically "down for maintenance" excludes chat. Chat has near-100% uptime. (It's used internally by devs and CMs for their devvy and CMy stuff or whatever.)

@Doorknob Yes, I was so alone

Hey guys, thoughts on the addition table at the bottom?

キーボード is kībōdo. I can't believe there isn't a Japanese word for keyboard that isn't a loanword.

why would there be

Why wouldn't there be

There's not one for computer (afaik), either, so it makes sense to me.

Right. So which one of those phrases do you think should replace the perfectly good loanword? ;)

@mınxomaτ You watch your filthy mouth

hahahaha

@mınxomaτ ಠ_ಠ

3:33 AM
I know, it's an awesomely double loanword.

Google has automatic etymology oneboxing. That's cool.

1/14 not crucial

@AlexA. I'd pick "I like it." if I could.

I broke something.

3:35 AM
Also, it's kinda unfair to lump all anime in like that. Some is good, some is crap, like everything else.

@El'endiaStarman I figured "I like it" would fall under "It's alright." Good point though, should have been in there.
@IGoBest Average over all you've seen.

1/14 not crucial

Sounds biased to me >_>
Why would I watch ones I thought would be trash?

Do I look like someone who cares about representative samples? (hides textbook on sampling)

yes

3:36 AM
@AlexA. Very indifferent

@AlexA. you constantly try to poll us
isn't that basically sampling

@Quill I'm just polling your leg

Hmm. Well, I've really liked all the animes I saw...

@AlexA. I feel bad for laughing at that

Who claimed to be the world's biggest anime fan? Was it @Quill or @Maltysen?

3:37 AM
@AlexA. Glad you made sure to double the L there...

@IGoBest ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

@AlexA. that'd be me

@Quill Nice. I was never a big fan but my girlfriend likes it so I've seen a fair bit. One Punch Man and Kill la Kill are ones I like.

World's biggest? How tall are you?

I'll be very disappointed if I press "go back in time" and don't see any dinosaurs. — Pharap 2 hours ago

Sword Art Online season 1, Clannad and Clannad After Story, Summer Wars, and Avatar: The Last Airbender (though that's not really an anime, it's close enough).

@IGoBest cough musaigen no phantom world cough

@Quill I read his name like "frap-frap" for a second
Now I'm reading it like a mispronounced "Phillip."

Why don't you just pronounce it pharap instead?

Because I don't know how to pronounce that.

@El'endiaStarman you might like shokugeki no souma

3:39 AM
@Quill :/

@AlexA. It's clearly Fair Ape :P

@IGoBest World Big Anime

Unfortunately, I'm not taking recommendations because I don't spend very much time watching stuff.

3:40 AM
@Quill Thanks for the heads up.

@SuperJedi224 ¡Hola!

@Quill Thanks. but that would've been great to know three hours ago

I just made the ForceLang official release!

@Quill "starting 3 hours ago." dat verb tense tho

I started sleeping in a couple hours. What's wrong with that?

3:41 AM
> That's why we'll have to do it... YESTERDAY! To the time machine!

@SuperJedi224 I have no idea what that means but it sounds exciting, so congrats!

I can't decide whether if it said in 21 hours is more helpful than saying 3 hours ago

@Quill haha, I just undeleted the room

you know, you can't get into a channel in Discord from a channel link, only from an invite link
It doesn't work anyway :p

3:42 AM
Case in point: I started keeping track of how many TED Talks I watched several months ago. I hit 50 today and probably have an additional 100-150 bookmarked. :P

@SuperJedi224 is there force choking?

@SuperJedi224 mmmmmmmmmm ( ¬ ͜ʖ¬)

Wait, that discord thing is still there? Gib link pls

I don't think anyone has been using it
I haven't for a long time, at any rate

maybe it's best to retire it?

There are some wierdnesses with the expression parser at the moment so I would suggest using compound expressions sparingly.

@SuperJedi224 @author Johnathan Waugh who is that

@AlexA. Me

Oh shit

... who did you think? :P

SuperJedi's true identity revealed

3:46 AM
oops

@AlexA. Submit it to TMZ :P

@Doorknob It was an author tag in the code, I figured it was code made by someone else
@SuperJedi224 Oh, it says that on your GitHub

@AlexA. some us don't have our names as our usernames

I copypasted most the code in that class from the Ten Foot Laser Pole source

I took AP compsci, physics, and calc bc.

@SuperJedi224 What do you do now? Are you a working professional?
I didn't take any AP classes in high school, but I got an associate's degree (2-year college degree) at the same time as my high school diploma. Maybe that counts for something? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

3:51 AM
@RenderSettings well, considering you can skip almost an entire year of college if you take enough aps…

Does your state have Running Start or an equivalent program?

no

I skipped 2 years of college.
ono

well aren't you really cool

.-.
I wasn't bragging

3:52 AM
@AlexA. I just graduated from high school last year. Now I'm working part-time while taking compsci 2 at a local community college.

@Liam lol

I may take a few other classes next fall, I don't know

on a related note, I had my first lecture today :)

how's the workload in law school?

@Quill You gave a lecture or received one?
@SuperJedi224 Buenos nachos

@AlexA. if you count CR reviews as lectures, maybe :p

lel

@Liam Few hours of lectures per day (max. 3). Other than that just working cases constantly.
Lots of writing.

My best friend is in her first year and she kinda hates it

How does one become a lawyer and a coder?

people with more knowledge about college stuffs: Is it possible to do a major in math and com sci?

Code law
@Maltysen Yes!

Law code

@AlexA. pep8

@Maltysen absolutely

3:56 AM
I feel like PPCG has an above average rate of young users.

@Maltysen This is likely one of the more/most common double-majors.

(at most schools)

@AlexA. oh cool
@El'endiaStarman how do double-majors work

@El'endiaStarman My dayjob is hacking things and/or doing live-hacks(/giving general IT security talks). Knowing the law is kind of necessary.

@Maltysen You take a lot more classes. :P

3:57 AM
o

@Maltysen A major requires a set of classes. If you declare a double major, you just take all of the classes in both sets.

^

is that a lot of classes?

Usually, some classes are shared (especially ones like gen ed), so it's not quite a double portion.

You could also do a minor. A minor is just a smaller set of classes.

Q: Top users under age 30, sorted by age, with rank

QuillIn the pursuit of SQL enlightenment, I wrote a quick SEDE query to display Rep, Age and Overall Rank. Sorted by Age, then Rank (Which is generated by Rep). SELECT TOP 150 ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY Users.Reputation DESC) AS Rank, Users.Id as [User Link], Users.Age, Users.Reputation as R...

I did a major in math with a minor in stats.

It depends on what the degrees are

shameless promotion

@mınxomaτ Huh, interesting!

You could do a double degree? If those things exist over there (I'm assuming they do)

@Quill Ooh, cool!

@Sp3000 They do indeed!

I wonder if I make it!

I majored in Applied Mathematics with a concentration (smaller than a minor) in Philosophy.

@Sp3000 In fact, at my alma mater, if you want a degree in math and computer science then you actually have to get a double degree because math is from the College of Arts & Sciences and CS is from the College of Computer Science and Engineering.

3:59 AM
what's the difference between a double-degree and a double-major?

That's my situation too atm :P
