If there's a good reason to limit it, then it does better. For example, if it's about C pointer tricks, etc, it'll do better than "golf this, but in C".

It depends on what the challenge is about. We don't need shortest code for X in language Y for all languages, but some contests only make sense is a small set of languages.

String s = (String)(Object) four;

however, realize that "types" is not well defined in challenges

so doing a challenge that says "change the type" is really tough (if not impossible) to get right
