ubuntu.com finally has an ssl certificate!
Waiting on their score on ssl labs: ssllabs.com/ssltest/…
Drum roles, Ubuntu.com's score is...
> "A"
Mine is A+. Winning!

Let's check nitroshare.net...

user136984
I am now running Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with GNOME 3.22!!! :D

A+ too, high-five @blade19899 :)

@NathanOsman sweet got that figured out...
@NathanOsman you just opened up a whole world of gaming possibilities on my PC :-D

@NathanOsman **Virtual High Five!

9:09 PM
@TheXed Apparently, certain DVD drives can rip Wii discs directly. I might see if I can get my hands on one...

Worse case scenario is I can download them but I rather not waste my bandwidth if I don't have to...
@NathanOsman that and trying to find them can be challenging...

When I have time, gonna try to get Public Key Pinning (HPKP) to work.

user136984
Apart from all being a bit slower than on 16.04, no real big difference.

user136984
Well, at least no big visible difference.

9:14 PM
Not too happy with Yakkety?
Or are you talking about something else?

a+ here too :D
i wish it told us how to improve things.

user136984
@ByteCommander: Yakkety. It's just really slow...

user136984
I haven't had such a slow Ubuntu version not in a VM before...

@blade19899 playing with fire, eh?
o.o corsair has amazing keyboard prices right now.
i might finally jump
and the corsair server hug-of-death targeted itself

9:39 PM
@KazWolfe where?

refurbs i think
right now their entire server is on fire i think
gah, i can't decide between MX Blue or MX browns
how clicky are the browns? anybody have them?

9:58 PM
good evening!

10:29 PM
Reason #105 not to like MySQL - disk usage is absolutely 100% ridiculous.
nathan@sf:~$ du /data
2728	/data/wordpress
1064	/data/performance_schema
676	/data/sys
24756	/data/mysql
205364	/data
205 MB for a nearly-clean WordPress DB.
Aha!
root@sf:~# ls -l /data
total 176160
...
-rw-r----- 1 999 999 79691776 Oct 19 18:28 ibdata1
-rw-r----- 1 999 999 50331648 Oct 19 18:28 ib_logfile0
-rw-r----- 1 999 999 50331648 Oct 19 18:25 ib_logfile1
...
What are those files?

user136984
@ThomasWard By the way, isn't "offtopic" normally hyphenated? I think it at least makes it easier to read even if it's not necessary.

@NathanOsman innodb stuff

Pffft. I'm not amused.
This is why I use PostgreSQL.
Well, okay, there are other reasons too.

the two logs stay the same size all the time
it's just the ibdata that grows

It still seems stupid.

10:55 PM
The file doesn't compress well...
What's in it?

binary data i think

user136984
Goodnight! :)

@KazWolfe Shouldn't it be all zeroes though until some data gets entered?
...and therefore have a really high compression ratio?

@NathanOsman let's make a compression algo that removes all the zeros.

Lol, that's my joke.

11:06 PM
no, because it does logs/caching/indexing/etc.
(or i honestly don't know, that's just how it is, and no, you need those files there for InnoDB to work.

Then my comment stands:
29 mins ago, by Nathan Osman
It still seems stupid.
Blue Jays lost :(
Go Cubs!

calling it now, cubs choke.

@KazWolfe ಠ_ಠ

they're 1-2 in the series, losing 11-8

Gah.
Bad day for sports.

11:19 PM
i mean, if the cubs win tonight, it'll be tied.
knowing the cubs, they'll go to 3-3 in the last game.

Yeah, probably.

top 9, Dodgers hit a homerun to make the score 1-0, and the Cubs lose.
Specifically, they lose bottom 9, bases loaded, 3 balls, 1 strike, 2 outs.
dinky hit to second baseman who gets the easy out at first.

No, it will be tied after the ninth and the Dodgers will knock it out at the top of the 10th.
Let's at least keep everyone on the edge of their seat for one more inning :D

i think bases loaded bottom 9 is pretty good

Okay, fair enough.

11:22 PM
no. sorry, not 2 outs.
1-0 Dodgers, 1 out, runners on all bases. 3 balls, 1 strike.

I see where this is going...

Cubs are up and hit a dinky hit to shortstop. Dodgers get a double-play.
the heartbreak.

The curse.

Will last forever

Or until nobody cares anymore.

11:24 PM
The Curse of the Billy Goat is a sports-related curse that was supposedly placed on the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise in 1945 when Billy Goat Tavern owner Billy Sianis was asked to leave game 4 of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers at the Cubs' home ballpark of Wrigley Field because the odor of his pet goat (named Murphy) was bothering other fans. He was outraged and allegedly declared "Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more," which has been interpreted to mean that there would never be another World Series game won at Wrigley Field. The Cubs have not won a World...
All they need to do is let that exact goat back into the stadium.

It's not going to smell any better 70 years later...

it's not going to be alive anymore

That's... kinda my point...

and because the curse requires the same goat to be in the same place...
in the same condition it was...
there's no breaking the curse.
Source: BS Degree in Voodoo, Hexes, Curses, and Charms

> "Sam Sianis, nephew of Billy Sianis, has been brought out onto Wrigley Field with a goat multiple times in attempts to break the curse: on Opening Day in 1984 and 1989 (in both years, the Cubs went on to win their division), in 1994 to stop a home losing streak, and in 1998 for the Wild Card play-in game (which the Cubs won)."
Okay, that is legit funny.

11:29 PM
any regular live goat will sate the curse temporarily, but won't break it.
but here's the issue.
In order to break the curse, that specific goat needs to be present at the World Series at Wrigley Stadium when the Cubs are playing.
But because the curse blocks the Cubs from getting to the World Series...
Catch-22

The Cleveland Indians haven't won a World Series since 1948.

I mean, it's theoretically possible to also break the curse just by having that same goat there, but the only surefire way to break the curse is to have the goat there during the world series.
I think for the former though, you need to burn a certain type of incense while saying the exact same words spoken to apply the curse, but only backwards.
You may or may not also need a blood pentagram around home plate with the goat in the center for this.

@Zacharee1 k compiling and uploading to your server

thx
It returns: "sorry, but Ask Ubuntu isn't the place to ask for people to do your homework, especially when the homework has nothing to do with Ubuntu." Weird, because it's a double array. — Zacharee1 13 secs ago
@KazWolfe nooooooo

11:42 PM
@Zacharee1 yessssssss
