Surprosing: AU meta thinks I have second-highest meta participation... I haven't asked or answered on meta for the last month or so.
Also, is the title of each page suppoerd to be :Ubuntu meta" or "Ask Ubuntu meta"?

Ubuntu Meta - Guess that's just something they didn't think through.

excessive boredom and still a lot to do that hasn't been done.

Kamal Hannahow to generate and activate ssh dsa key in Ubuntu i've tried to do this on my own but it didnt work it keep prompting password

I've been out of close votes all day

izx
NEED MOAR close votes!
Close votes should be scaled based on the "volume" of a site; apparently we are #2 after SO!?

5:06 PM
it's based on the person's rep iirc.

@izx Wish I could help, one day I'll have enough rep to lend a vote.

Q: Ask Ubuntu meta page title says just "Ubuntu Meta"

ObsessiveFOSSIf one looks at the title of any page on AU Meta, then will see that the title is: [Page title] - Ubuntu Meta - Stack Exchange when IMO it should say "Ask Ubuntu Meta". I mean, they're enormous compared to us.

Good Night

@GeorgeEdison what package list are you working off of for your crossbuild project?
like how are you choosing

Is AU ever going to have something similar to meta.security.stackexchange.com/questions/887/…?

@ObsessiveFOSS we just had site-cleanup week before the 12.04 LTS rollout

5:45 PM
Ah.

@aking1012 Right now I've picked two popular programs and I'm working through their dependency chain.
One is SuperTuxKart - the other is the Gimp.

And cross-compiling for Windows?

I knew about gimp not supertuxkart

@ObsessiveFOSS That's me.
@aking1012 Well, pseudo-popular then :)

Yeah, I've never understood why everything is "well set up a mingw dev environment on windows and apply these 400 lines of patch to get it to build" instead of cross-building from linux

5:51 PM
This will put an end to that.
5
Sometime down the road I might set up a server (for a small fee) that does daily cross-builds of Windows packages using my PPA - kind of like LP recipes.

Yeah. So if Kivy would gain some popularity I might look at scripting that for a cloud build system

@GeorgeEdison How will the server's setup be licensed, in case someone wants to use their own machine?

Well... good question...
Hmm...

Why was the SE shop closed down?

Q: What happened to the Stack Exchange Store?

Michael PryorThere used to be a place where you could buy Stack Exchange branded gear, what happened to it?

If they would outsource...

jrg
@GeorgeEdison you might be interested in this - github.com/spooner/releasy
(since you're doing something similar right now with your cross compiling)

Or give access to the design of thir "swag" so we can order it ourselves from whereever(assuming it's properly licensed)

jrg
@ObsessiveFOSS nah. you heard the reasoning.
> We also felt like allowing anyone to purchase our swag made it a bit less awesome when we sent it out for free to people for being awesome on our sites.

I'll have great luck getting that to happen...

6:05 PM
@ObsessiveFOSS wait for the next pre-release site cleanup. Some really low rep users hammered out a lot of questions

jrg
@aking1012 that cleanup is probably only a few weeks away.

@jrg Interesting...

I'll wait until I have closevotes and can edit... Next release...

@ObsessiveFOSS flags and answers are the best way to do it.

Q: More destinations for off-topic questions

ObsessiveFOSSOften, I see a question that is off-topic, but I only see options on the flagging interface to flag for a close or to flag to send it to meta, which is quite limited. Is this by design since other sites don't want AU's posts being dumped there, or should this be implemented?

Zoom in. It's a pirate face!

you guys are already talking about killing the banner?

yep, that disables the banner. It is dead...
I kept it, but I have the "Ask Question" button inline with the toolbar, and reclaimed wasted space.

@hakermania i really want to look at format junkie. Do you have a build for Q in the PPA yet?

@jrg I've tested DeskWiki (I edit wikipedia sometimes) but I honestly think that editing through Wikipedia itself is easier... Oh, I just remembered that a guy had done some reviews: http://justicetoeveryone.blogspot.gr/2012/08/ubuntu-app-showdown-fair-rating-of.html
@jrg not yet, sorry, busy with Wallch

8:31 PM
@jrg I actually am not able to focus much right now

@RolandTaylor ok, fair enough.

I just started looking at what apps are available, but I'm a wee bit busy lol

Unfortunately, nothing that can replace my todo list yet.

@jrg not usable by many, I guess.

8:34 PM
Yeah, true. But I might get it to integrate with openstack, which will make it dead simple to do other stuff

@jrg have you tried the winning applications?

jrg
I've tried Fogger.

@jrg what do you think?

jrg
shrugs not very useful for me.

@jrg I guess that people are enthusiasts with it but in the near future we will see that browsers are much better. Even Unity Web Apps!

jrg
8:37 PM
ok, let me rephrase that: It's not useful for me because I have everything in a chrome tab, and all I need is Google Music and this chatroom.
as such, putting them in seperate apps doesn't make much sense, but putting them in pinned tabs fits my workflow.

@jrg this

jrg
I generally keep the number of windows down to three - terminal, editor and a browser. is very minimal like that

@hakermania Only if the get webgl universally supported out of the box and handhelds enable webgl support. Then it becomes cooler
@jrg so i guess you're looking for a terminal version of the cryptogame thing...

@aking1012 anyway, having separate apps, like @jrg said, for every app doesn't make sense.

that would be easy...

8:39 PM
@jrg I have 2 terminal windows open by default, QtCreator, Chrome....

jrg
@aking1012 that's my development workflow. Since I do development the majority of my time, that's my workflow. Playing games? Open it up, rock out.

@hakermania true enough. i wonder if someone is going to put together a window grabber to put all your windows in tabs with gtk sockets?

@jrg any lack with Format Junkie so far?

jrg
@hakermania i use byobu with tmux backend in my terminal, so i'll have a good dozen plus tabs.

@aking1012 why not to use a browser, then?
Hey, have you tried cmus, by the way? It's a command line music player, I love it!

8:41 PM

@hakermania haven't tried it yet, been busy adding stuff to the ever growing todo list.

@aking1012 I see.

@hakermania normally todo.txt, but lately i've been using toodledo.

wunderlist doesn't have it, i just hate wunderkit.

I see, wunder match my needs, though :/ Use what it works for you best
