Q: Which is the best image hosting site for hosting images for website?

rahul dagliI currently have a website and blog and using a limited web hosting plan. When I upload images on my hosting server it consumes a lot of bandwidth and space. oops

@jokerdino i might as well delete my question, basically the problem is hd0 out of disk and there are several existing questions with the same title....

ooh

@jokerdino and i did all the recommended fix and answers but none worked

8:26 AM
ok so
want me to do something?

@jokerdino don't know how to answer that
lol

hmm

i'll cleanup the question

gimme the list of dupe questions. we can comb them.

@jokerdino I wonder if the answer has something to do with /dev/disk and it's 'subfolders'.

8:32 AM
oh i totally forgot i don't know the correct answer.

@jokerdino well, thank you.

none of the solutions work do they?

no. not one of them

izx
8:38 AM
What's the problem again?
First time I had to refer to one of my own answers, ***** Ralink wifi cards

besides the error i got doesn't drop to the grub rescue prompt
same hd0 out of disk. Press any key to continue
after pressing a key nothing happens

it sounds like some other issue though

i guess
i think i may have to reinstall ubuntu

that sounds a good idea.

:((
i don't hear any sound

8:45 AM
lol but really

lol
i'm tired of doing the updates and the upgrades and installing all the apps that i use and setting up vbox

well what does that mean?

this will be the 5th time that I will reinstall Ubuntu

:/ why do you do so many times?

because I've encountered boot errors several times already with 12.04 back when i was using oneiric i didn't encounter any problem at all
i've encountered this hd0 out of disk error twice already, if it isn't that the boot time will be toooo slow and if not that initramfs or grub issues. i think precise pangolin doesn't like me at all!

8:49 AM
i can't quite seem to nail the problem :/

me neither
i'm thinking of switching to mint

o.O

what does that mean?

most of the problem is boot issues yes?

yes boot issues most of the time it doesn't boot at all

8:51 AM
wipe the harddrive may be? :D

after reinstalling it would be fine for a few weeks then the boot issues will be back again
:((
i don't have an external hdd

:(

A friend promised to send one for me, but until now I haven't received it yet :((

hmm that is your choice

how does an image backup work?

8:55 AM
no idea. never tried

is there a way to preserve my previous Ubuntu installation and copy it to a partition? would that work?

never tried...

i guess i'm gonna have to do it

good luck

been running ubuntu on a livecd for almost a week now
thanks anyway for trying to help me out

8:57 AM
at least you use it
@msPeachy if in case you need more help, i can put a bounty of 100.

that's the good thing about linux distros, you can always try it with a livecd
a 100? that's very generous...but it would be a waste i guess...

better than not trying

yes i know...

well i want to stay above 10k rep + 50 as buffer. anything above, i can put as bounty

i can put a bounty...hehe i have 113...lol
can i put a bounty for 13 rep?

9:03 AM
na
lowest is 50

thought so
where did everybody go?

@jokerdino Is 'na' for "no" is tamil language?

@AnwarShah na

hey @AnwarShah

@msPeachy I am here.

9:04 AM
illai in tamil.

in our language, "na" is for "no".

oh.
nahi is no in Hindi

that's what he meant "no:

so, what is meant by 'na'
isn't it 'no'?

yes

9:06 AM
if i say naa then ppl understand it as no.

I am glad to see that, somebody is using our language
Thanks to everybody for using na

izx
@AnwarShah Actually the root is not "our" language; see wiktionary:nah
The reason why so many languages -- Such as German and Bengali -- share that word/meaning is most likely because they have a common ancestor:
The Proto-Indo-European language (PIE) is the reconstructed common ancestor of the Indo-European languages, spoken by the Proto-Indo-Europeans. The existence of such a language has been accepted by linguists for over a century, and reconstruction is advanced and detailed. Scholars estimate that PIE may have been spoken as a single language (before divergence began) around 3700 BC, though estimates by different authorities can vary by more than a millennium. The most popular hypothesis for the origin and spread of the language is the Kurgan hypothesis, which postulates an origin in the P...

i sort of liked compiz cube with the depth and cylinder transforms. i think they should have stuck with that and made a scroller at the bottom you could click/drag + throw to spin the cube
would have fit for this touch noise everyone is so excited about

they broke the cube

boo. breaking anything that works in 12.04 is just vendor lock-in
of which i am NOT a fan

o.O

10:27 AM
12.04 was some vendor lock-in...if it keeps progressing i will get progressively upset

Wait, was the workspace picture demonstrating 12.10? Or just another disappointing attempt from 12.04 to make everything more... Mac.

@Flabricorn 12.10

i heard on either linuxactionshow or mintcast or linux for the rest of us, about a program called "actfast" or has a similar sound... but now I can't find the program and can't remember which episode I heard it on
it was probably the linuxactionshow
the program seems to help machines with low memory or slower machines behave more speedily

11:15 AM
hmm don't remember that tool :/

actfast or backfast or acfast or something

:/

izx
You know, ultimately if you have insufficient RAM, nothing can really help you except using fewer/lighter programs.
breakfast (or whatever) is like one of those fuel additives that are advertised to make your car go faster... ;)

hmm. i tend to agree. but jupiter does help a lot and this program was a really clever process manager I think

izx
On the other hand, if you have LOTS of memory, there are programs that will make your computer appear faster by preloading things in RAM (like Superfetch in Windows)

11:24 AM
hmm... maybe im thinking of apt-fast
speeds up apt-get update

probably. i thought the same myself

alright. thanks a lot... again
knew i'd get an answer in here

yo, delete your question?

i guess that would be a good idea
@jokerdino, ok i put a vote to delete on it

on an unrelated note... ive been using unity for a while now .... and just switched to ubuntu gnome-shell... and really loving this

morning yo o/

@JoshuaRobison hm you love gnome-shell?
@BrunoPereira yo morning!

welp my favorite is kde... but most debian branches like ubuntu are usually kind of behind in kde
and ubuntu works best with my printer

hmm well if you like it, you should use it

so ive been using ubuntu-unity for a while now ... a few months

11:30 AM
i regularly switch between unity, gnome-shell, kde and lxdm

i knew I could boot into gnome-shell at any time but then would have to deal wth configurationss.... long story short I put in the work and it is slicker than i thought it would be
with themes and extensions, gnome shell is just really nice

well yeah.
if i can access the launcher a little easier, i won't mind.
and then the notifications are a little ugly

tht is true
it would be nice to get similar notifications as kde

yeah

i had unity notifications tweaked to work like kde notifications

11:32 AM
i like notify-osd very much

just putting them right next to the top bar
notify-osd?
does that work with gnome-shell?

the unity notifications
it doesn't and that is my problem

just found an extension called shell-osd

it is buggy

@jokerdino Unusable, or just annoying?
