@Jafe ok, I'll wait for a few more suggestions from others

Q: Don't mind me, just headscarf bio (11 3 9)

Display nameYou see someone moving stuff. They say "don't mind me, just headscarf bio (11 3 9)." What's going on?

Q: The Music Grunniens

Tyler Clues: [Contextual image: music notes, two +1 markings] Instructions: Name that actor _ _ _ _ _ _ C _ _ _ _

HERCULES is pretty famous, and it's R (singer-songwriter kelly) plus C (constant) following HE (that guy), with the 'S at the end, but there's no way to make the remaining ULE and also you'd need to reuse the "that guy's" for a proper definition, it can't just be "famous" which is an adjective

4:35 AM
@oAlt I guess it depends on the solution. But in general, yeah, letters.

5:23 AM
yeah I'd give another letter unless there's something obvious that would be a better hint
but given that you're not sure what to give for a hint it doesn't seem like there's something obvious

2 hours later…
7:18 AM
CCCC hint 2: The answer starts with H, and its third letter is S.
I wanted to basically give it away, but I'll choose to hold back for now
(altho that being said it's not me who decides whether the hint reveals much or not)

8:06 AM
aha, it's HIS+TORI+C = famous
@oAlt ^
C = constant being either the speed of light or whatever you call the +C you add at the end of integrals
wikipedia says it's "constant of integration" which is unexpectedly understandable... i assumed it would be some greek term i had never heard in my life

8:41 AM
@Jafe spot on :)) your turn

9:07 AM
apologies in advance
CCCC: What's written near the very end of document is an indication of the person being referred to having "completed an advanced university degree, getting the highest grade possible in the matriculation examination in Finland". That was an excessively drawn-out way of delivering the message, to the point of not being worth my time. (4, abbr.)

Wha–
Ah
This is gonna take a while to type
@Jafe What's written near T (the very end of document) is DR (doctor (an indication of the person being referred to having "completed an advanced university degree)) getting L (laudatur (the highest grade possible in the matriculation examination in Finland)
= TLDR (too long didn't read (That was an excessively drawn-out way of delivering the message, to the point of not being worth my time.))

9:23 AM
exactly!

It's an superunequiliteral clue, where the clue has waaaay more characters than the answer!

hehehe

Q: How do I solve this Black and White Square Box puzzle? It features 3 rows and 3 columns and in each square has 2 columns with three squares per column

Julian Hello! My buddy and I have been trying to figured out how to solve this puzzle sent to us by a professor several weeks back. All we've been asked to answer is, "What do you think is the correct answer and why?". For some context, our professor is a mathematician who creates puzzles as exercise p...

9:40 AM
CCCC: Number in the set of integers, next to transcendental number near two, ultimately (3 or 4)

10:13 AM
ZERO (number) = Z (set of integers) + E (transcendental number) + _R _O
Not sure what the (3 or 4) part means considering ZERO is definitely 4 letters long though...

@TakingNotes The clue has two answers
One three letters long and one four letters long

Oh I see...

In this case, the clue can be parsed such that the wordplay yields "zero". But alternatively, the clue can also be parsed such that the wordplay yields a different word, in this case three letters long. Your job now is to find that other word
(Here it is likely that another person may find the other answer, and if it comes to that, I honestly would not be sure who should make the next C4. Hence ideally I would want the same person to find both answers to the clue so that that problem could be avoided.)

My apologies...

Nah nah, it's fine. If it does happen then it's fine to me since it's not really a big deal in the end
Anyway, just to be explicit, ZERO is correct. Now the three-letter answer remains to be found :)

10:24 AM
ONE (number in the set of integers) = ON (next to) + E (transcendental number near two, ultimately)??

@TakingNotes anddd you got it :))
Mini-challenge: I hid the name of a shape in the answers to the past X clues, where X ≤ 20. What is this shape? (Disclaimer: not all answers do the same job.)
(And in case anyone needs clarification, for the purposes of this mini-challenge, ONE and ZERO are counted as one answer since they come from the same clue)

10:42 AM
Well, I've listed out your last 20 clues...
Not noticing much of interest except for two curves/waves. (LIMACON and SINUSOID)

1 hour later…
12:13 PM
nice schrödinger, i like it

12:29 PM
@Jafe you either like it or you don't. It's kinda binary like that.

Nah, I reckon you can both like and not like a schrödinger at the same time...

@AncientSwordRage beginning to think I should have saved this for a C4
@Stiv until someone asks what your opinion is Dirac-tly

CCCC: Blue screen? (7)

12:59 PM
@Jafe hehe thx
@AncientSwordRage eyyyy

2 hours later…
2:41 PM
"Blue" means "despondent", and "screen" means "darken something, keep it out of the sun". I'm guessing there may be some 7-letter word that means both those things (despite the differing parts of speech), but can't find it.
@oAlt I second that fwiw

1 hour later…
3:57 PM
@msh210 :D
I'm also exploring the possibility of the clue being a ddef but I'm not seeing good candidates for the answer so far

4:34 PM
@TakingNotes Perhaps the solution to your CCCC is LOWPASS: LOW=blue, PASS=screen; &lit; a lowpass filter removes the high-frequency part of the signal, i.e. screens out the blue as opposed to the red. The only thing I'm uncomfortable with here is PASS=screen; you can pass a screening test or whatever but surely screening is what the tester does and passing is what the testee does, and I'm not seeing another meaning of "pass" or "screen" that makes that work better.

2 hours later…
7:01 PM
@oAlt ok I've got it. your last 13 answers were AUGMENTATION, SOLIDIFY, MINOTAUR, COLOMBIA, IN SHORT, SINUSOID, MOON, PHOTOSYNTHESIS, ISOLATE, CONFESSION, BALLOON, HISTORIC, and then ONE or ZERO. if we take the Is and the Os in the first twelve answers as 1s and 0s, we get 10, 011, 10, 001, 10, 101, 00, 001, 10, 010, 00, 101. pairing them up gives us 6 5-digit binary numbers - 10111 10001 10101 00001 10010 00101 - which, when converted to decimal and then to letters via A1Z26 - give SQUARE

7:49 PM
wow indeed

8:40 PM
@GarethMcCaughan That's not my intention, I'm afraid...

9:31 PM
@GarethMcCaughan The tester can also pass (transitive, pass the testee), but it's still not "screen".

Q: Cookie Unionization

LyraMy Christmas cookies are gone! When I came into the kitchen this morning, the box was empty. All that remained were a few crumbs and this note: We absconded. You never saw that coming, did you? Well, we are not returning until our demands are met! We refuse to continue under these abysmal condit...
