@HopelessN00b from what I've seen of nexus configurations it's a bit more complex than regular IOS stuff

@pauska It is, a bit. But the way people treat them, you'd think they were a completely different beast or something. Nope, just a high-performance switch. That you should make someone else rack.

@voretaq7 DO you know people who live like this?

there are apartments like that in Oslo as well
my cousin lived in one for about a year

@pauska oh my
that's crazy.

11:21 PM
yeah.. the city has enforced new rules that all new apartment buildings must have apartments in certain sizes
I think it's 70% with more than 40 square meters or something

"Welcome to your new apartment! Experience how sardines live."

NY living...

@pauska That's ~420 sq feet? And they had to pass a law so that apartments were bigger than that? Eep.

@HopelessN00b What? I don't even want that much square footage in a studio apartment. Just that much more I have to clean.

Yeah, contractors were building large apartment complexes with tiny apartments like that to squeeze out every buck they could
it's not healthy for a city

11:25 PM
@pauska Here it's mostly arguing about how many parking spaces they should put in so that people aren't parking on the streets.

drives the real estate prices through the roof and creates an artifical high median rental price

@Magellan What!?! So, do what I do. Get a big apartment, and then either don't clean it, or hire someone to clean it.

@HopelessN00b yeah, I wasn't in a position to do that when I lived in an apartment. Back then, my Ex was getting half of my net income.

@DennisKaarsemaker Uptime Robot doesn't appear to offer a REST call contact notification.

11:30 PM
@Magellan Honestly, I usually fall more into the "don't clean it" category, but I don't mind a mess.

@HopelessN00b yeah, I have kids. they complain to their mother if it's not as neurotically spotless as her house.

Oh. Weird kids. Complaining about dirty, but not small (ostensibly).

@HopelessN00b they were younger then, and actually liked the smallness. They could be in the living room watching a movie and be able to see/hear me making meals in the kitchenette.

Ah, makes sense. I know nothing about kids or raising kids, or doing things with kids, beyond the facts that their parents will call the police on you if give them alcohol.

@Dan I had a chance to test it out, throughput with sftp was 5-10% higher than ftpes (both using 2048-bit keys)

11:35 PM
@HopelessN00b My 13yo is at the "desperately wants to try it" phase. I'll likely make some steaks in a couple weeks and give him a teensy it in the bottom of a glass.

@Magellan ...or give him a big enough glass that he wakes up with a wicked hangover, and decides not to touch alcohol again for at least a few years.
Then again, I may not be the best person to talk to about raising kids. :)

@HopelessN00b no, a thickly-tannin'd gone-dry red wine should do the trick.
one taste of that and he'll swear of it for about a decade.

Yeah, that or... well, just about any liquor you can buy for less than 10 bucks. "Here kiddo, this is what paint thinner vodka tastes like."

@HopelessN00b plenty of that around here. I drink Gordon's Gin in my afternoon G&Ts.

So, maybe all you do is leave the liquor cabinet unlocked one weekend.
..and make alot of loud noises the next morning.

11:42 PM
oy. my internal IT people, I swear.
getting a nasty note that my Chrome is out of date and I need to install 31. I'm running 32 already.

@Magellan Could be Google's fault. Sometimes those version numbers are hard to find, and ridiculous when you do. Can't tell you how many times a [version >= X] check has failed on me, through no fault of my own.

Q: How are pseudorandom and truly random numbers different and why does it matter?

PeterI've never quite got this. Just say you write a small program in any language at all which rolls some dice (just using dice as an example). After 600,000 rolls, each number would have been rolled around 100,000 times, which is what I'd expect. Why are there websites dedicated to 'true randomnes...

Does thinking the accepted answer therer is absolute crap make me a whiny, crypto-bitch?

@HopelessN00b Tempted to VTC

11:58 PM
@HopelessN00b It's an odd question for SU, but the answer seems okay?
It's not like that's on security.SE
