There's a difference between a desktop manager and a window manager.

@LordStryker KDE comes with a desktop manager called kdm which automatically manages login sessions and Xorg instances; if you aren't using it (it sounds like you aren't from having to run startx) you should use it

@LordStryker XFS is pretty darn solid and regularly deals with data much larger than it sounds like you're using (single hard drive, right) -- XFS works with volumes in petabytes in production systems

You can use EasyBCD which has the ability to control the bootloader and with it you can delete the bootloader entry.
