So, I was on a boat in a storm and I thought... If anything bad happens with my laptop, I need to be able to port my Windows 8 with me, so... Why not put it in a portable VHD file such that I can drag it onto my USB stick? Let's do this!
@KronoS A lot of these [windows-8] posts are craptastic IMO... Really wouldn't hurt to add a few links to posts about good and bad questions in the contest info. =\ I might be handing out some liberal downvotes for the next three weeks. I don't see it getting any better after Oct. 26th.

Originally, there was going to be a requirement that you earn the Analytical badge (read the FAQ) to be eligible for any prizes. Not sure if that ended up getting in the final thing.
@nhinkle Thanks =D What kind of things would you want to see about WAIK? I'm not entirely sure about it's Windows 8 compatibility, but I'll definitely play around with it and find out.
@r.tanner.f whatever you think might be interesting. Network deployment might be cool. Maybe using WAIK to make an integrated installer for Windows 7 and Windows 8 (i have a blog post and SU post about something similar that might be useful)

i think you'd start to get annoyed by the latency before you'd get to the point of "oh my god how many 192.168's can there be on this path to the internet"
I dunno, modern routers are really nice hardware. 128mb+ RAM.. decently fast CPUs. The current one (which is awesome) pulls 10w from the wall, twice as much as the Asus N16 it replaced.
alternatively, if you're just downloading some drivers, download the packages manually to the laptop, then just use a network share to copy them to the desktop
