@thesecretmaster That would be better, as it's more specific than just a status code, but it could distinguish based just on status.

Alright, if I pushed that change now, would that mess smokey up somehow?

@thesecretmaster Nope. SD currently completely ignores the response from reporting posts. It even just logs if there's an exception.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Bad keyword in body (95): What do you think about this anime idea? by ParadoxBJJ on anime.SE

@thesecretmaster Given the difference in response, we now could/should do something different, but the changes won't mess up SD.

Are domains only ever added manually?

Would we want to apply this retroactively?

@thesecretmaster At first glance, I wouldn't have a problem with that, but we should check with the other admins.

@metasmoke @Rubiksmoose although affiliation is disclosed, it sounds a bit promotional to me.

@double-beep so it does! I think that was just a misclick because I definitely remember intending to tp there.

@Undo @ArtOfCode MS has been updated by @thesecretmaster to not create new MS post records for the same SE post, if all of title, body, username, and why are all identical. We're wondering if we should apply that retroactively, which would remove duplicate reports. Thoughts?
@thesecretmaster Ideally, if we do a retroactive removal, we would merge feedback (down to one per user) and comments. Anything else that should merge?

@Makyen I'd probably say no - that's a hell of a lot of work to correctly identify those posts, let alone transfer/merge data between them and ensure their surroundings don't break
or, to look at it another way: what harm are they doing by existing?

@Makyen Why is the username relevant? If the postid hasn't changed...

4:17 PM
if all the harm is "might have to manually hack a URL to find any duplicates", that's nowhere near worth the work

Good points, all.

@Mast That's a relatively low rate of occurrence, but I could see that it might be better to check for user_id. OTOH, it doesn't sound like it's going to be all that significant.
