@Mithrandir I concur -- keeping centralized abuse reports is only useful if we can really used the information in the reports for follow-up and coordination
FWIW added [tag:website] for webstarts.com and weebly.com in Pulse Monitor
@doppelgreener That pattern looks like it's already caught by Potentially bad keyword in body and Potentially bad keyword in answer; append -force if you really want to do that.
finding 'em by going through domain tags on metasmoke - I currently have #drugs, #streaming, and #fake-tech-support open (anyone have any other helpful ones?)
We could always send Medium a list of domains, then they could send us back a database of posts with those domains, then we can classify/pick out the ones which would be useful
Heh, that's going to sound really weird when we request it. 'Um, hi, in return for this hard work could you please buy us some of our own swag? Thanks'
Alright. Going through the first of eight pages of only domains that are tagged #drugs, I found a total of 1756 spam posts on Medium, now linked spread over three gists ([1][2][3]).
oh hang on, it's pretty clear from the actual links
e.g. abnehmpillen-test.com has only a single spam in Metasmoke metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/domains/922 -- do you have a record of how many Medium hits you got?
@tripleee That pattern looks like it's already caught by Pattern-matching website in answer and Pattern-matching website in body; append -force if you really want to do that.
if Medium would be willing to submit new posts to (some mutant variant of) SmokeDetector, we could improve our reach and their spam blocking rate at the same time, but it could be a significant developer undertaking on our part
Latest on Medium: They want more information on potential integration (i.e. are interested, if we can find a good method). Could be scanning stuff, or it could be sending 'em the blacklists regularly.
I've been thinking about approaching Wordpress.com to try to integrate SmokeDetector into akismet but we would probably need a bit of back and forth there too in order to get a spec of what their format looks like
@Mithrandir I can't find a single use in the SE network using search, and there's one TP for each of them (no FP's), so it's still worth a watch. If it turns out not to be only used a spam, it can be unwatched later.
Suggesting edits on vandalized posts is usually not worth it... Regulars (>2k) would rather rollback (singlehandedly) rather than wait for another use to approve the edit as well. (It's also a different place to rollback, so they don't necessarily see the pending edit.)
