The "Helpful" state is just a result of a post getting deleted after a spam flag.

If you cast the last spam flag, the flag is automagically "helpful"

The downside is, I can only write 80~100 characters every minute in that font.

pretty much. This is why I bring my own laptop to work regularly, because IExplore is chaotic evil

whereas my own laptop is LINUX and Firefox so :P

I still use Windows (and WSL + VMware so everything is covered)

I threw away all those MSYS and Cygwin after updating to Anniversary Update.

yeah we're on Win7 so no WSL here at the workplace. Yay for my own laptop xD

but i digress

im only 18 and is a freshman in a university in China, so using a Linux distro as my primary system is somewhat impractical (in the environment)

@iBug didn't know China was your country of origin. In my case, I've been using Linux since 2009 so...

it's one of those things that I just prefer becasue I don't have to pay Microsoft for stuff that is insecure, and I don't have to buy overpriced Mac hardware.

no Mac hardware aren't overpriced. You're buying FAITH, not hardware. Faith can never be overpriced

sounds like "China" implies software piracy, which I can't deny...

@iBug the equipment in Mac hardware is overpriced for the quality because of the brand name. And only because of the brand name.

@Undo The (scheduled) performance degradation is quite a big news recently.

some tests show that even iPhone X gets degraded when battery falls under 10% (or 15%).

@ThomasWard I'm planning to run my laptop (4710HQ, 860M, 16G) for 7 years (or more, since I no longer play those 3A games so frequently)

@iBug well... Yeah, that's how electricity works. Either you can have a slightly slower phone, or one that reboots when you push it too hard.

(simplest explanation I can muster: Low batteries can't provide enough voltage to run the processor at maximum. Imagine a house with four showers during a drought - the water company lowers your pressure, and your family finds that running all four at once doesn't really work out well for anyone. So you schedule that only two of you will take a shower at any one time)

Same thing with processor scheduling - instead of doing a hundred things in one microsecond, then nothing for a few microseconds, then another hundred things, you smooth out the peaks. It looks horrible... In benchmarks.

Some people may be able to tell the difference, which is valid, but a majority doesn't.
