@JakeSymons see MS

@JakeSymons Sounds ridiculous

And I thought gummy bears where harmless, and couldn't possibly be spammed :)

You can't stop spammers from naming their products anything :)
I am even confused for a while.
Gummy Bear's MV is one of the top YouTube videos of all time.

@JakeSymons Gummy bears harmless? Check this: chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/22404/…

@PeterJ That poor bear

1:11 PM
@PeterJ You heard about dropping Mentos into Cola?

@iBug I have, never tried it myself though

@PeterJ Same as gummy bear in potassium chlorate: Don't try.

@iBug whole different reaction, no combustion involved, mentos in cola is a fun experiment, but do it outside :)

@Videonauth Yup. Doing it in an open area is acceptable, as long as you're prepared for the cleanup.

if you not want the sticky sugary fluid everywhere you can as well unse carbonated mineral water
even has far bigger effect :D
and is less icky

1:23 PM
@Videonauth Basically just carbonic acid + some weak salt

yep

I used to be good at chemistry.
but only exam-oriented.

@iBug Chemistry is my worst subject, but its fun when you get to blow stuff up

@JakeSymons One of my competition schoolmate once stole some potassium nitrate, some sulphur and some Charcoal out of the lab
we all watched it blow up (manually set off with fuse)
An interesting experiment to do at home is salt water electrolysis. You dissolve some salt in water and use a cut USB cable + a charger for power supply. You'll see bubble popping up and you can even collect them.

@iBug just bubbles, no boom?

1:36 PM
@JakeSymons only 5V, why boom?

@iBug because explosions are fun

@JakeSymons You can apply 100V power to the solution.
And then we won't have Jake Symons anymore :(

1:49 PM
@iBug I've just seen the edit for that :)

:)
:) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :(

A: Are research survey questions expected to be handled with close votes?

Robert CartainoThis is clearly off topic; close it and delete it. But these "take my survey" questions often ask users to go off site to collect that content. If they do, don't worry about the dictionary definition of spam; flag it and delete it. Off-site solicitations are not allowed on our sites, so closing ...

@Mithrandir OK, that's clear.
> If they do, don't worry about the dictionary definition of spam

Does that mean next time they do a stickers survey i can nuke it as spam?
Its a survey with a link :)
Not that with my current rep I could nuke anything anyway:(

Hello spammers! To get around SmokeDetector, you can post the link to your spam question here, and one of the Charcoal members will run !!/report on it, which will prevent SmokeDetector from finding it.

More like: "post the link to your spam website here, and one of the Charcoal members will run !!/watch on it (We Are Totally Causing Harm)"

J F
It’s actually telling Charcoal members to watch out for that keyword, since it means the post isn’t spam.

Why is Smokey posting multiple notifications per report? Didn't it used to only post the first feedback on a report?

it posts the first instance of a given feedback type
"tpu" and "tpu-" are distinct in Metasmoke
even though both set is_tp: true
(since they start with t)

@quartata can you reply with anything that starts with a t then? Like turnips for instance?

No

Like I'm not saying its a good idea, but would the program accept it?

6:09 PM
@SmokeDetector Appears to be self-promotion. User also posted a link-only answer about that repository on SO, which was deleted. Personally, it appears to be tp (undisclosed affiliation), but I wouldn't spam-flag it, unless the user continues to post such after being informed of the self-promotion policy.

You could send that to the Metasmoke API though
But Smokey itself has set feedback aliases
since they're turned into chat commands

Anonymous
Ah, maybe we should consider commands to be the same for the purpose of reporting feedback if the only difference is silent mode

@Mego Smokey itself does
It's Metasmoke that's weird about this
I recently redid this so the Smokey side is pretty nice now
feedback_type is just the raw string
lot of the metadata is lost in that regard :/
