I recently noticed What was the first work to posit the equivalence of magic rituals and computer algorithms? being pushed to the front page. Currently, every answer is locked (maybe due to spam edits according to the comments). Is it still necessary to keep these posts locked?
@Undo IMO, we shouldn't have multiple records of a post where the post is the same revision (i.e. hadn't been edited) and the same detections (possibly ignoring detection changes; i.e just looking at post revision). There are many reports which are duplicate FP. As you said, there aren't nearly as many that are TP, as the TP tend to get deleted, but there are some.
Ideally, such duplicate reports wouldn't even get reported. I can understand that SD doesn't know the full history that's in MS. Perhaps MS could reply to an SD report telling SD it's a duplicate report. Then SD doesn't post any more chat reports that haven't made it into chat rooms yet, and deletes any reports that have already been posted.
@iBug Which would be a good refinement, but a bit more complicated. We'd have to check prior reports to see if the detections remained the same, but that may, or may not, require ignoring that the things detected have moved. But, yes, ideally, we wouldn't want a new report unless there was something new detected.
