bx-zone is a site that has been getting spammed around the internet by its owner, one Abhishek Nagar. (See their twitter claiming ownership of Abhishek's posts.) Apparently it's an old book marketplace. We've just nuked such an answer on RPG.SE, and other sites may also see spam about it.

I don't see any problem with the current watch?
It'll pick it up even without the \.com

As it is, iBug watched the domain yesterday I just found out
Closed the PR
My reasoning for changing it @Mithrandir was I personally would prefer it to end up on blacklisted domains rather than blacklisted keyword if it got to that stage.

@ArtOfCode Shall we talk to CM to grant Astronomy 3-flag nuke, OR increase autoflag number to 4 from our side?

I don't understand why Astronomy, Graphic Design are hit by an abnormal amount of spam (in correlation with it's activity etc.)

GD is pretty active to some extent
We're currently having one autoflag on EL&U and Workplace, and 3 everywhere else.

@iBug the latter we can't do (yet)
the former might happen, but we'd also have to reduce the number of autoflags to 1

@ArtOfCode why's that?

Required by CM not to exceed 3?

1:38 PM
@WELZ we haven't built any way of doing it

Talking about CMs @Art - Pops is no more no?

It's literally only possible to do 3?

@iBug our current SOP is "we don't nuke posts unilaterally"
@WELZ we can do more, but not per-site

Yep, but increasing to 4 doesn't nuke it.
It only drops human requirement from 3 guys to 2

@iBug I'm talking about if the CMs reduce the nuke threshold to 3

1:40 PM
4 total, and then most sites will go down to 3, no?

@WELZ huh?

Yeah, and I'm adding note to inform us before they implement it.

We need at least 99.9% autoflagging accuracy before that, if not 99.99%

@ArtOfCode We aren't able to change the autoflagging number for a single site?
1
Q: Can we have 3 flags destruction for some time?

iBugThis site has attracted extra spam in the past few months. As the current case is on English Language & Usage and The Workplace, only 3 flags are required before a spam or offensive post is nuked. Can we have the same mechanism here so spams don't last too long before it pollutes more? Related: ...

@iBug This will hardly make a difference - one less manual flag?

@ArtOfCode can you get an average time to deletion on Astronomy?

tpu- by WELZ

@WELZ That'd be dangerous.

1:46 PM
@WELZ A few years ago I wondered the same about Drupal and tracked down one at least one possible reason, I did a Google search on a common recurring spam there and found a few other places where the same thing had been posted. I picked a few that were in no way related and did a search on something like +Drupal +RandomBlog1 +RandomBlog2 and found a forum post that appeared to be a list of places you could post without delays / captchas etc.

@CalvT븃 standby

@CalvT븃 I guess it's a bit too high on inactive hours.
inactive = less people active here, in CHQ
I can observe an aggregate of ~30min/day when I'm the only one giving feedback in CHQ.
So the need for 3 manual flags is surely slowing down the nuking of spams.
Especially on Astronomy where there isn't enough local activity (unlike Ask Ubuntu)

@CalvT븃 156.9711 seconds

ooooh that's long

@ArtOfCode Thanks. That on your data explorer?

1:50 PM
@CalvT븃 Nah, I'm doing queries against my local MS

2 minutes 37 seconds

BTW, I think Super User and Ask Ubuntu can handle most of the spams even when Smokey's down.

apple and stackoverflow as well.

Autoflagged posts on Astronomy: average TTD is 149.4993
Non-autoflagged posts on Astronomy: average TTD is 448.3684

Actually SO gets less blatant spam.

1:52 PM
Just a question though - has the old policy of "We don't go to sites, they come to us if they see a problem" been reversed?

448... That's 7 minutes and a half.

so... 3 autoflags reduced the time by 298.8691 seconds, or 99.6230 seconds per flag. So, in theory, if only two manual flags were required, the avg TTD would be 49.8790 seconds
@CalvT븃 I'm not sure we ever wrote that one down, honestly

@ArtOfCode And if only one manual flag is required, a spam would have gone 49.3840 seconds even before it's posted :)

@ArtOfCode It was kinda because of the whole GD issue anyway right?

@CalvT븃 aye
@iBug if only stats worked like that
