codecademy.com is great, it's where I first learnt how to code, but they only teach Python 2 (Python 3 is the current and future of the language). However, learning the differences between Python 2 and 3 will only take about 10mins from a beginner's perspective, so it shouldn't matter much

Automate the boring stuff with python is also pretty good, you can read it online free or buy an ebook. It's cool because it teaches you some of the more useful features of Python, especially stuff that would come in use when developing a larger application like Smokey

The same author has also written some other free CC licensed books

It's really easy to use and reads like english, while simultaneously being powerful enough for complex scientiffic data analysis and building huge applications (e.g. Google is written in Python)

Even if you're not interested in a tech-based career, learning how to code can be useful. Automate mundane tasks. Make something random. Become the most valuable person on your team because you have technical skills. on the other hand, DNS providers probably get fewer complaints than they should

It's the same fucking thing with popups and overly annoying display ads. It's gotten to a point where you need to be a cynical distrusting git on the internet to stand a chance to maintain your sanity between all the advertising and sponsored everything

It's almost like those people have such a low opinion of humanity that they don't see people as anything besides consumer bots that can be fine tuned to consume as much as possible. It's sickening how bad it's gotten over the years

these days you can't even play a video game without having gambling and more sales shoved in your face as you play.
