8:00 PM
@Undo +1

Looks good, @Undo, only I'd suggest leaving out say SO and some other site, just so site switching is fast.

Hmm, maybe.

I don't know.
Maybe we could switch the main site to SO now?

Oooh, yeah.
Sorry, @ManishEarth ;)

@Undo root authored? Um...
How'd you get the root user to commit something?

8:05 PM
Oh, I made a change on my new dev server and committed it, I was root at the time and it took my current username. Then I pushed it.
(it was me)

Ah, was going to say...

Hehe

@Undo The only thing I can think of is how does a user know what site they're on in Charcoal?
Well, besides the dropdown.

Hmm...
I know. Just a minute.

Good change.

8:11 PM
@hichris123 There, is that a little better?
Thanks

If I was pickier I'd be mad at the stackoverflow and not Stack Overflow, but I'll live. :)

Yeah, that's [status-planned] :P

Hmm... @Undo Maybe you could add in the mod/CM/whomever panel stats like per day, per site, others I can't think of...

Oooh, good idea.
@hichris123 Fixed :D

@Undo Thanks. Helped my OCD. :)

8:23 PM
Hehe
UI without functionality!

Isn't that the best?

Yup!
(BTW, @ManishEarth, the SE CM's use /cm)

@Undo huh?
/cm?

Yup

there also is a /developer

8:27 PM
Yes, but the CM's use /cm

look through dev.js

Yes...
I don't need to.
Digging through mSO posts I found where one of them had dropped a link to a tool they use.

Why is it so hard to find the js the CM's use?
It has to be somewhere.

@Undo they use /developer iirc

8:32 PM
But... there's nothing in developer.js

the CM tools are minimalistic. No js

So... they don't have any pretty thing for seeing voter names?
@ManishEarth Have you gotten a swag email yet?

@Undo they may just be using queries
@Undo nah
Tim said he'd send the mails out later I think

Good. I was about ready to dig through spam. >.<
(this is my first load of swag, I'm kinda excited :P)

8:49 PM
@Undo I'm getting a This method can't be called that way on this, any ideas?
payload = {'access_token': 'pxy4(I5uWSYNGjjJKmQjcg))','key': 'oBhIoUA)i7UXiHOFqgMaPw((', 'site': 'stackoverflow'
           ,'option_id': '5695'}
r = requests.get("https://api.stackexchange.com/2.2/questions/992389/flags/add", params=payload)

It needs to be a POST request.

It is a POST.
I think...
Let me check.

requests.get looks like a GET to me.
(also, you just exposed your access token. Better beg @ManishEarth to censor it :P)

Eh, sure. If someone comes in here and finds it, well... they did a lot to find it. :P
Your right, it isn't a POST request.
Fixed it.

Worky now?
gtg

8:53 PM
See ya.

9:13 PM
Back
@hichris123 Log in to Charcoal. I made a Users view, planning to add a create users thing soon.

@Undo I got my post flagging thingy working.

Oh good!

@Undo Wait, you got animuson to use Charcoal?

@hichris123 I got him to make an account. He hasn't really used it much, though.
I'm going to put per-user stats in that view too.

@Undo I was going to ask why you selected Text`, `UserID`, `Id`, `PostId`, `CreationDate`, `reason and didn't use most of it.

9:17 PM
@hichris123 For the comments view? Because at first I used most of it. Feel free to trim it down.
Actually, I think we do use all of those.

@Undo No, that's the users view.

Oh, that's weird :P
There, rm'ed

I pulled it for you.

Yay!
And pulled on main.

echo '<p>Heh, nice try</p>';

9:21 PM
That's for when Manish starts poking around.
What else could it be for?
Hehe

Good idea.
Now have him crack into it.

I have to take away his diamond first.
Diamond gone.

Make a mod view to appease him.

Hehe
got to go now for real, cya

Cya.

1 hour later…
10:48 PM
@Undo I partially started on the stats page.
When you're back I need your help on getting the site name to display.
@Undo Also, do we keep count of the number of comments a user handles per day?

11:14 PM
@Undo There are ways to circumvent the poke around. Like I just did :p (undo it if you want)
also, fixed a bug with stats
@Undo this bit ... shouldn't that be in login.php?

@Manish Thanks for the stats bit.

@Manish Hehe.
I'm kinda here, but not really. On a mobile phone.
@hichris Not really, but we have handle time stamps for every handled flag, so it's not hard to figure out.

Please, don't use mysql_* functions in new code. They are no longer maintained and are officially deprecated. See the red box? Learn about prepared statements instead, and use PDO or MySQLi - this article will help you decide which. If you choose PDO, here is a good tutorial.
(scnr :p)

@Thief mysql_* is all I know :p

@ThiefMaster gah
I expected that
eventually
I like PDO
@Undo PDO is ridiculously easy
plus less confusing

11:27 PM
I'm surprised it took so long for TM to notice that.
@Manish Will try when at laptop.

sure

At phone right now, pretty much the same as being in a wheelchair at a truck race.
s/being/racing
No editing in mobile?

What I usually do is keep a separate class (eg this horrible jumble of code ) that has all the database magic including the actual SQL and I call its functions everywhere else. Easy to play with
@Undo 'edit last" under menu

Huh, good idea.

I use mobile chat a lot

11:29 PM
Oh, neat!

no point doing it now though

ugh, why do you use pdo and mysqli at the same time? :o

@ThiefMaster because I haven't converted it yet
A friend wrote the original class, i am in the process of conversion

And I discovered PDO::FETCH_OBJECT only halfway through the conversion
So...basically steaming pile right now

11:30 PM
and heh, even not-super-bad PHP is somewhat awful to read after years of python..

works, but cannot be gazed upon for too long
@ThiefMaster Recently I've been sticking to python and JS, but usually PHP is what I need to use in pet projects

because of cheap shared hosting?

Too much blue in my chatroom!

Tomorrow I'm helping write an Android app, which also will have a PHP thingy
@ThiefMaster ?

> but usually PHP is what I need to use in pet projects

11:33 PM
@ThiefMaster I could run django or flask or whatever, and I find them both pretty fun, but others don't know python that well and I have more experience (not much though) with php. If I need to whip something up, php becomes the best choice

Is there any better PHP IDE than Sublime?
Like, with error highlighting and stuff.

@ThiefMaster WHat's your deleted comments total for the day?

same as last night before i went to bed

One can't star from chat, right? Just curious
And owner functions are a distant dream, right?

yep

11:37 PM
;(

@Manish You don't have a diamond in my users view. Hah!

@hichris123 ?
I can give myself one

@mani You would need to either change the DB or change to code. I wouldn't put it past you to change the code :P

@hichris123 yeah, but I effectively have a diamond

11:47 PM
@Manish I don't believe it unless I see it. :)
Diamondz are the only thing that counts.

He changed the auth code to allow anyone named 'ManishEarth' :P

@Undo I saw, but he doesn't have a diamond, so...

He'll just change the diamond-showing code :P
But you're right, diamonds are the only thing that really matters :p

@Undo He hasn't changed it yet.

He better not :p

11:49 PM
rubs palms

pats terminal with sudo rm -rf pull.php written in it
I like being the one with keys to the main host server :p
I would probably never cut Manish off from his tools. But I might. But probably not.

@Undo Or I could just add && $username != "manishearth"

Hehe
That would be mean.

Do you want me to make him an empty mod view to appease him?

If you want. Put a witty comment in it if you do. Something like, "what's a mod, and why do they need a view?"
Actually don't - we have no way of telling who's a network mod yet.
(Unless you make it only show to Manish)

11:58 PM
@Undo I was planning on just showing it to manish.

Sounds good.
