Sklivvz used to own the post. (He was an active member of the site during the beta, before he was a dev). He doesn't participate so much anymore except the occasional meta/main post, and found the constant pings on that post (there was one point where there were like two answers a day) annoying. He was considering deleting it and having someone start a new thread, I asked him to reassociate the owner (CMs/devs have that tool)
@hichris123 India was a British colony. The most prominent European language (besides English) is French. Not used by anyone, but if you want to learn a new language that isn't Hindi/English/the state language, you usually do French. So it's easy to find a French teacher, but not a Spanish one
I'm going to browse around the site, pick a random post, run it through Google Translate to English, make grammar changes, run it back through to Portugeez, and submit that as a suggested edit. Rinse wash repeat.
@hichris123 When I moved here I knew Marathi and basic Hindi. And I suck at reading the script. The level of Hindi at the 10th grade is very high, and most native speakers still have issues. It's a compulsory subject too. And I can't read Marathi fast, though I speak it well.
If I wanted to have any chance at passing the board, I would have to take a different language that would be expected to have been taught from the bottom up from the 8th grade, and that would mean taking French or Spanish or something. My school didn't have a teacher for either so we had to find one, and French was more easily found.

@hichris123 board examinations. Standard exams given by many people. There are multiple boards at each level, and each school teaches the material for some board. You sorta have to give the exams to get admission in high school (called "junior college" here)
