3:03 AM
looks at code

Should it be like that, @Undo?
Or should it be "+flagoption+"?

@hichris123 It should have my custom flag message.
But I'm not sure.

Let's see.
Do you have a test post for me?

@hichris123 Use /charcoaldev
Oh
Hmm...
Find one on Physics and flag it there

@Undo Any post, I'm kind of out.

3:12 AM
I think I have it fixed.
Just need to commit the change.

What was it?

the big queue finished

@ThiefMaster How about our other ones?

@ThiefMaster Yay!

6258 crap comments in total - so it contained quite a few that were in one of the previous runs

3:13 AM
This is quite fun

which ones are still missing?

55 mins ago, by hichris123
@ThiefMaster Here's one: http://data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/156824/obsolete-comments

@Undo Duh.

Hehe

3:17 AM
So what do we need to add to Charcoal, @Undo?

@hichris123 What kind of add?
For what?

@Undo Like feature-wise, anything. Most bugs are gone...

@hichris123 Anything you want.
(make a new branch or something)
I don't have anything on my wishlist.

@Undo I'm trying to think of stuff...
@Undo Do we need any of these comments? data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/revision/156846/197037
Some are just names, others...

Heh
Uhmm
...
Hmmm
@hichris123 There's only 85 of them, not sure it's worth it.

3:21 AM
@Undo True.
Hmm... how can we write that script to check if comments are still there @Undo?

@hichris123 We can batch them 100 at a time with api.stackexchange.com/docs/comments-by-ids
And use a really basic filter.

@Undo I was hoping there was an API for it.

@hichris123 There is - it's right there. What's wrong with it?
(other than the 100 at a time thing)

@Undo No, I meant that before I was hoping that there was.
Otherwise...
It would have taken forever
@Undo Then I guess you would have to check for [] if there wasn't a comment.

@hichris123 Exactly.
Oooh @hichris123 I have a feature we could add

3:33 AM
@Undo Please tell.

Add a flag-handling history.

@hichris123 done

(@ThiefMaster is there any way we can see a screenshot of what a flag looks like in a mod's flag-handling history?)

@Undo So read from SQL? And global?

@hichris123 Sure! We can add another tab for it.
(and maybe do it on another branch)

3:35 AM
@Undo I think I have another thousand or so comments: data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/revision/156824/197043/…
Check it for me?

@Undo: Nothing fancy at all
> Comment deleted: "blah blah" 1 min ago - Post 13275970

@hichris123 For Charcoal or for TM?
@hichris A quick run through says those all look good, but: we can't just have @ThiefMaster mass-delete them, because obsolete comments almost always have comments around them that need deleted.
(and those are all probably in Charcoal already)

@Undo Let's create a mass-delete list for TM in Charcoal

@hichris123 Hmm...

That way we get the surrounding comments and don't flag manually.

3:38 AM
^ this

Soo... @hichris123 you're thinking a special view for @ThiefMaster in Charcoal?

would be great if you could limit the mass-delete stuff to obviously obsolete comments btw - i need to check all of them after all (using SEDE)

@Undo Could, or, we could do a review queue and put comment ID's in a list. Then give the list to TM.

Hmm

Or, we could have a button add it to that list.

3:40 AM
and let's call it a mod view ;)

:D

I'm sure e.g. some other mods will use it on their sites, too

@ThiefMaster What do you mean by obviously obsolete? Like the SEDE stuff?

@ThiefMaster wants his mod views wherever he goes ;)

@hichris123: yes, comments that don't need lots of context to see that they are obsolete

3:41 AM
@ThiefMaster do you want a diamond there too?

lol :D
the 6.5k list for example was like that: easy to scroll through with ~80 lines per screen page - so the page-down made skimmin over it easy

7 hours ago, by ThiefMaster
>>> print u'\u2666'
♦
@Undo There you go.

works on giving ThiefMaster a diamond
Heck, I can give myself a diamond too!

@ThiefMaster I have a list of such comments, but as Undo says they have obsolete comments around them. List here: data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/revision/156824/197043/…
@Undo Plz plz me wantz diamondz!
:)

Hehe ok

3:44 AM
7011 deleted comments - i think i can call it a day and go to sleep :p
almost 5am here anyway

@ThiefMaster 'Night

@ThiefMaster Nighty night.

I kind of like being able to dispense diamonds.

Use pitchforks or cats! :D

Hehe

3:46 AM
😻

Ok
Or little squares.

@Undo That's why you made your own website. You knew, subconsiously, that you wanted to give diamonds to people. That was your purpose in life.

@hichris123 Yes. I now know why Shog likes his job.

@Undo Look here, at Shog's picture and hat: codegolf.stackexchange.com/users/1144/shog9

@hichris123 You and me get these: ♦︎. Real mods get these: ◎
Or maybe §

3:50 AM
@Undo Playing around with UTF-8 I see.

Yup!
^ A pitchfork!

@Undo Please don't kill me with it.

Ok

Anonymous
crazy shit yo

Uhmm...

3:54 AM
@Undo what I like the most about unicode is

sigh
Got to go now. Diamonds tomorrow.
I've always wanted a diamond.

See ya'
@Pato Why are you in here?

@hichris He isn't right now.

@Undo I got this from a Physics mod "declined - The script you are using to flag is buggy, I'm seeing "+flagoption+" as the reason."

4:09 AM
@hichris123 why wouldn't i be here

Anonymous
anyway bye and good luck with your bot thingy

Anonymous
seems promising... if done right

Thanks.

1 hour later…
5:21 AM
@Undo oops, sorry, my bug. Yesterday TM mentioned that the JSONparse was unnecessary, but I didn't fix it in its entirety.

4 hours later…
8:59 AM
@Undo pull.php doesn't seem to be pulling hard enough
it's stuck on c61d4b7..1978b85

6 hours later…
3:04 PM
@Manish Dev or main?

@Undo both

Okay, one sec.

@Undo It's basically not pulling anything newer than your last commit

K
And just like that my laptop won't connect to my primary network ;(
@Manish Question: should we have a dev branch on GH that /charcoaldev pulls from, then have /charcoal pull from master?
I know almost nothing about Git branches, other than that they're magic.
Yay I'm back in wifi land now!
@ManishEarth I hope it's all fixed now.

3:54 PM
@hichris123 You and me has diamondz now!

@Undo Yayz!
Working on your new mode for TM?

4:21 PM
@Undo Why is the valid/all ratio only like 90%?

5:06 PM
@Undo both of us are wall-coloring grand prize winners

@Manish Linky?

46
Q: Work is hard, let's color the walls

Tiny TimPicture pages! Picture pages! Time to get your picture pages! ... time to get your crayons and your pencils! That's right, it's time to realize that you're simply not going to get anything meaningful accomplished this week, and your time would be better rewarded by joining in on the last of th...

Congrats.

@ManishEarth No way.
@hichris123 The percent-calculating gizmo is wrong. I weighted stuff in the wrong way.
@hichris123 You and me should call ourselves CM's: Charcoal Managers :D

@Undo not for me?

5:21 PM
@ManishEarth You already haz a diamond :P
But ok.

@Undo Nah. Though an optional ?branch= parameter would be nice. Not too useful though -- I have used something similar on larger projects, but don't see a need here

Ok

@Undo CM's? Okay.

There must be something wrong with Tim's query if it chose me as a winner :P
I never win things.

But you did.

5:24 PM
I know. I can't say that I never win things anymore ;(

Aww... did you take pride in not winning things?

Yes.

so....a diamond is just a diamond

Yes. Nothing special yet.

wonderfully tautological

5:27 PM
(except that it makes me feel better about myself :P)

@Undo I looked at the code, I don't see where the diamond comes in on the website.

@hichris123 In index.php

@hichris123 look at the latest commit

where it prints the username. It adds a diamond after it if $_SESSION['ischarcoalmod']==1

@Undo When'd you add that?

5:28 PM
Let's see...

Why is GitHub so slow?

two hours ago.
not slow for me.

also, just added a new feature
sub feature

It's always slow to load for me, @Undo.

Oh
@ManishEarth which would be... ?

5:30 PM
@Undo Then why me no see diamond?

When that is on, all the comments get collected as individual flags

@Manish That was there a few hours ago.

Even if you flag all the comments on a post
@hichris123 it didn't work though
I added the button, and was stumped by lack of pull so I didn't add the js

Ah...

SE adds hidden functionality without UI. I add UI without functionality :p

5:32 PM
@hichris123 No diamond? ;(

@Undo On dev.

Oh.
You should see it on main.

Nope.

log out and back in.
It's a session var, set on login.

I'm still seeing this:

5:34 PM
:(
Hmm...
@hichris123 try it now.

@Undo Yep.

Good

Me likes diamonds.

Diamond is fun.
@hichris123 We get full diamonds. Real mods will only get hollowed-out diamonds: ♢

@Undo Hah!

5:37 PM
@Undo Ow. Right in the ego :P

Hehe
@hichris123 I'm planning to make us a special view where we can create users.

@Undo Finally!

:D

@Undo So what's the difference between dev and master Charcoal? It seems like they both have the same commits....

@hichris123 They do. dev is a staging area where we push things before we push them to main - so we can test if they break things.

5:47 PM
@Undo So does dev auto-pull?

@hichris123 No, you just visit /charcoaldev/pull.php

@Undo So when you say the percent thing is wrong, what do you mean?

@hichris123 I'm actually taking the percentage from each site, then averaging the percentages - which means that a site with a 50% accuracy rate over two handled flags has the same weight as one with a 99% rate over 2300 flags :P
(so those two sites would output 75% or something :P)

@Undo I have an idea.

Do tell.

5:50 PM
Add together all the handled items, then add together all valid items from each site.

Exactly.
now someone just needs to do it :P

I'll work on it.

Yay!

hope I don't break anything

Meh, we use Git so we can undo the breaking.
Heck, Manish broke the flag-generating thingy, making me look foolish in front of the SF mods. You'd have to beat that to make anyone unhappy :P

5:53 PM
@Undo haha
I did it on purpose

Of course.

making you look stupid is fun
@hichris123 you should try it sometime

No, I'm not that mean @Manish

/moving to lab

Like my relationship with SF mods isn't strained enough :P

5:53 PM
You see, I'm a nice person.
@Undo So how can I add together the results of this to create the total of all sites?
          $aQuery = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM " . $row["siteTableName"] . " WHERE handled=1 AND wasValid=1");
          $bQuery = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM " . $row["siteTableName"] . " WHERE handled=1");
          // $count = $count + mysql_num_rows($aQuery);
          $valid = mysql_fetch_array($aQuery);
          $handled = mysql_fetch_array($bQuery);

Hmm.
@hichris123 I think there's a mysql_num_array($aQuery) or something similar.

@Undo This looks like it should work: stackoverflow.com/a/6907776/2581872

@hichris123 Yup!

@Undo So do I have to do anything like this to get the result, $count[] = $row["percentage"];?

Not sure.

6:13 PM
@Undo Does this look like it would work?
                while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($query))
                {
                  $aQuery = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(*) AS number FROM " . $row["siteTableName"] . " WHERE handled=1 AND wasValid=1");
                  $bQuery = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(*) AS number FROM " . $row["siteTableName"] . " WHERE handled=1");
                  // $count = $count + mysql_num_rows($aQuery);
                  $valid = mysql_fetch_assoc($aQuery);
                  $handled = mysql_fetch_assoc($bQuery);

Sure looks like it. Commit it and run pull.php on dev.

Okay.
Almost.
0.95860805860806 %

Sure looks a lot better.
Just multiply by 100

Maybe this: echo (($totalvalid / $totalhandled) * 100) . " %";

Yep

6:17 PM
There we go!
95.860805860806 %

Woohoo!
Pushed to main.

PHP isn't that bad.

Not at all.

You just have to get used to the $ on everything.

Hehe

6:34 PM
@hichris123 ugh. why no JOIN or nested SQL?

@Manish Cause it worked.

cause MY EYYYES WHYYYY

Hey, I fixed something.
You like your code pretty, @Manish?

bah
@hichris123 nested sqls and joins are far from pretty. But putting $row elements in php sql statements that are themselves looped over a result fetch .... ick

@Manish I don't really know my PHP, so.... if you want it to be better, you fix it. :)

6:37 PM
@hichris123 what is the exact query you want to do?

@ManishEarth We want to know the percentage of handled flags that were marked valid.

oh
you're looping over tables
my bad
yeah, nested query makes sense then :p

Yeah, unless there's some master table of valid flags, @Undo.

@hichris123 one can be made

There isn't.

6:40 PM
@hichris123 ahem *coughs*

I could probably write a nested sql statement with UNIONs and JOINs and GROUP BYs
but ... meh
when it's looping over tables that's fine. Since there are only a couple. It gets icky if you had put $row elements after the WHERE. That's when JOINs become awesome

@ThiefMaster What are you replying to? (And how do you see that if it's further back in the message history?)

@hichris123 click the little arrow

> PHP isn't that bad.

@Manish Thank you.

@ThiefMaster I never said pretty PHP code isn't bad. :)

7:15 PM
@Undo So how is the flag-history thing going to work?

@hichris123 Just a list of recently-handled flags, probably.

@Undo User who handled it? Or just body and valid/invalid?

@hichris123 Hmm.
For Charcoal mods, we see who handled it.
(that's you and me ;))

@Undo TM and Manish are going to want their own mod view. :)

@hichris123 Of course they will.
And a mod view we shall give them. But not as powerful as ours :D
Right now I'm working on getting this old HP laptop to run Apache so I can work on Charcoal locally.

7:21 PM
@Undo How old?

Uhmm... Not sure.
Compaq nc6220

What's with the screen?
And that is pretty old.

I'm on an HP dv6-1253cl

I'm on an '09 MacBook Pro

7:24 PM
$40?

Much nicer than the HP laptop.

@Undo why not just run it locally on your comp?
Or do you want to move it off EC2?

@ManishEarth No, I want a local dev server
Just so I can say I have a local dev server

7:26 PM
EC2 is handling it just fine.
/me likes EC2
@ManishEarth So what do you think would be nice to have in a Charcoal mod view? (for you and TM)

@Undo yes plz
oh
I dunno
The feature I added with the two buttons under it enabled works wonders for mods

Yay server all set up!

7:59 PM
I made the sites all go into a dropdown to make room for more sites & more buttons (think mod views)
Whatcha think, @hichris123 @ManishEarth ?
