Hello
Hey, @MattЭллен when did you start to speak German?
?

I can't :D if you see me speaking German, I've used Google translate!

Yea, GT is a survivor....
Virtually, you can impress someone

I am virtually impressive, it's true

Here comes the big fan of Justin

user19161
@MattЭллен Nice monologue.

10:19 AM
thanks!

user19161
@Noah Nice observation.

@JasperLoy thanks!

user19161
OK guys look at the main page and look for Reg's username. Do you see the middle A is shorter than the other two?

I dont
they are all the same

10:21 AM
I know only one is A
but I don't know which is what

user19161
By main, I mean english.stackexchange.com, on the conformity question, fifth from top.

I thought that was what you meant
[А](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_%28Cyrillic%29)
[Α](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha)
[A](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A)

No, still the same

user19161
I am not seeing things, but I see three A's and the middle one is shorter. In other places they are the same height.

Let me get my dads goggles

user19161
10:23 AM
I am on Ubuntu 12.04 now.

@JasperLoy No, it's not.

user19161
Also on Firefox release version.

Did you have a good night sleep?

user19161
Also installed Microsoft core fonts.

user19161
Hmm, this is mysterious. Anyone can divine the mystery please tell me.

10:24 AM
I love/hate MS

user19161
Microsoft core fonts is included in ubuntu-restricted-extras, together with flash.

I use Mac
so things are pretty much stable;)

user19161
@Noah There is a thin line between love and hate. You can only hate something strongly if you loved it strongly in the past.

I see the same issue on Ubuntu, but not on Windows

user19161
@MattЭллен JLO always speaks the truth!

10:27 AM
ubuntu's screen shot programme failed

@JasperLoy I dont really see that thin line... So I just wana live in the three ring circus :)

user19161
@Noah What is the three ring circus?

@JasperLoy a disorganized or frenetic scene or spectacle
According to OED, LOL
It's more like confusion
What does the three As mean in Reg's username ?

user19161
@Noah No idea. He just wants to show off what he knows about many languages.

@JasperLoy did you see that letter posted by Mahnax
If you scroll up, you will see a picture with a highlighted part

user19161
10:38 AM
@Noah Yes, is it a joke?

@JasperLoy Dont know. Maybe, maybe not.
Good that she is not my teacher

user19161
@Noah Well, a lot of teachers don't really know their stuff well. Everyone makes mistakes, yes, but some teachers are just so lousy...

@JasperLoy we discussed that before.
It's actually longer for me.

user19161
@RegDwightАΑA Yeah, I think it is the exact font the browser/OS uses that accounts for the difference.

@AbelJojo I have read your introduction. Now what?

user19161
10:47 AM
@RegDwightАΑA I see no intro anywhere...

user19161
Oh @kit I misspelled Snickers. It's not Sneakers.

I guessed.

Q: What does "want to " mean?

SubhraI often find people (mostly American people) telling to me "you will want to do this" or "you will not want to do this". Does it mean they are telling me that I'd better see it (in the sense of being authoritative) or just that they are requesting me to see something ?

Is this a question?

It is?

I don't see anything about seeing in the examples.
Maybe that is why I am confused.

10:53 AM
I think so. "Does 'you will want to X' mean I better see it, or that they want me to see it?"
Yes, seeing is an odd addition
do would make more sense

Some other user layman used "see" like that just an hour ago or so.
Perhaps this one is mimicking him.

perhaps
I like J.R.'s subtle campaigning ;)

user19161
@RegDwightАΑA Monkey see monkey do.

user19161
@MattЭллен Really? I did not notice.

@JasperLoy I'm only kidding.
1
A: What does "you will want to" mean?

J.R.“You will want to do X” is simply an informal yet animated way of saying, “I highly recommend trying X.” It's meant to be friendly, not authoritative; the speaker is sharing heartfelt enthusiasm. For example: You will so want to stay active on EL&U! They've got some great people there, ...

user19161
10:57 AM
@MattЭллен My campaigning is so subtle that I did not even run.

see how subtle it is? appealing to the regulars and newbies alike
@JasperLoy very subtle

That's just Evan bait.

user19161
I now know what Mitch meant when he said EC is weird.

EC?
European Commission?

user19161
Evan Carroll.

10:59 AM
Whos that?

user19161
@matt I now know why Carlo thought I could know his email. People see their own when logged in and assume everyone sees it too!

@JasperLoy I see. that is probably it

@Noah see, that's how much 2.5k users are aware of elections.

user19161
@MattЭллен I must ask him the next time he comes to chat again.

I fixed it anyway and commented on @J.R.'s answer.

user19161
11:01 AM
@RegDwightАΑA This sentence is polysemantic.

@JasperLoy unlike you.

@KitFox Kit 4 Mod

@RegDwightАΑA that's not fair

user19161
@RegDwightАΑA Me? I am lost. Oh, I am not polysemantic; I am only cryptic.

A: Difference between "tournament", "competition" and "match"

naved ansari1 down vote First, a "match" is usually between two parties as contestant, where as a "tournament" or a "competition" is for multiple contestant. A tournament, is a series of matches. There are generally a large number of contestants A competition can include a tournament, or a match. It's a mo...

11:03 AM
Is it a troll?

A new trend. Starting your answer with "1 down vote".

@MattЭллен A vote for me is a vote for foxen everywhere!

@RegDwightАΑA Because it is copypasted from somewhere?

Oh haha. You know what that is? It's a copy-and-paste of another answer.
Jinx.

user19161
11:04 AM
@Noah Is that EC?

Yep
looks like him

user19161
@Noah He looks cute.

Oh Jasper was in my dream last night.

@JasperLoy right

He was wearing a Superman tshirt and he was really tall.
Also, jumping off the dock into the lake with my boys.

TigerheadShould I say "data sets of race times of various cars" or something better? I am concerned that the "of" don't sound quite right.

Something better. Definitely say something better.

user19161
@KitFox Good, good.

@KitFox was he stuck in a teapot?

And speaking of boys, they have awoken. bbl

user19161
@Noah Where did the teapot come from?

Q: Is there any shorter pronounciation of W than double-U?

Tobias KienzlerWhen spelling, every letter in the Alphabet is pronounced by a single syllable, with the only exception of W being pronounced "double-U". (Fun fact, in German it's approximately pronounced like the "ve" in very, but in some strike of cosmic justice Y is pronounced "Yps-e-lon") Why is that? Is the...

@MattЭллен do you ever get offline;)

oh yes. around 10pm before each work day

@MattЭллен okay, i thought you never slept;)

Heh. No I need sleep. I'd like to be sleeping right now.

He is phone.

He is at least four phonemes.

@RegDwightАΑA phone?

@Robusto sounds phony.

@Robusto Is he a real person?

Define "person".

George Walker Bush (born July 6, 1946) is an American politician and businessman who was the 43rd President of the United States from 2001 to 2009 and the 46th Governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. The eldest son of Barbara Bush and George H. W. Bush, he was born in New Haven, Connecticut. After graduating from Yale University in 1968 and Harvard Business School in 1975, Bush worked in oil businesses. He married Laura Welch in 1977 and ran unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives shortly thereafter. He later co-owned the Texas Rangers baseball team before defeating Ann Richard...

12:02 PM
@Noah the explanation is right there in a comment on the question you linked.

Also, someone else deleted their question as I was telling them not to delete it :(

I'm just a gigolette, everywhere I jet people know the part I'm playing.

@RegDwightАΑA Did I link a question?

I was too late damnit!

@Noah yes you did, and Robusto was directly replying to you.
Click on the gray arrow in front of his message.
@MattЭллен which question was it?

12:04 PM
@MattЭллен Hasn't this question been asked recently another way? I distinctly recall suggesting "gigolo" to mean the male equivalent of mistress.

@MattЭллен There is a better answer. "Prostitute" doesn't mean the same thing as "gigolo."
@Robusto That's what I was thinking.

Q: "Sl*t" term for males

Thursagen"Slut" can have two meanings: an immoral woman, or prostitute a dirty and slovenly woman I would like a term for men that is the equivalent of the second meaning. Is there a term for describing a man that is dirty and slovenly?

@RegDwightАΑA it was asked by this user
I was about to say that if they edit the question to include what they don't understand then the question is fine, but when I hit send, the question was not accepting comments

12:07 PM
Maybe I only dreamed I answered. But it was a vivid dream.

I was going to comment again, though

I understood you the first time round. Looks like so did the OP.

I suppose. Although, why delete the question?

I don't think I understand materialize in that sentence either.

12:11 PM
@MattЭллен What else do you want us to do with it? Paint it with finger paint?
@KitFox because context.

Should we undelete it and make him have an answer?

@RegDwightАΑA no, I was just feeling bad that the asker deleted their question

People do that not that seldom.

Force him to let us help? And then we can close it as general reference once he clarifies it?

12:12 PM
@KitFox And then delete it again once it's closed? Perfect plan.

Looks like instructions, or even just a code comment, for some game that nobody ever plays.
Oh wait, spec sheet. Well, there.
If it's a spec sheet, you know whom to ask.

specsavers?

All specs should be written by Spocks.

@specsavers?

I like Lifesavers™ better. Specsavers™ only come in one flavor.

mmmm, yeah

That could be hot.

12:40 PM
@JSBձոգչ It doesn’t.

@JSBձոգչ you can spend the time guessing who the heck these people are and whether they know you at all.

@KitFox not if everyone thinks just that and votes for Evan instead.

how will they vote for Evan?
or do you mean not vote at all?

12:44 PM
It's just a way of saying.
But nice that you're paying attention.

I'm trying.

@MattЭллен of course the primaries will be unlike the real result. Nobody will get 100+ votes this time. You'll be lucky if you get 50.

Unless, of course, 850 people come out of nowhere and vote.

That's a lot of socks.

12:47 PM
Yes! they must do it now!

Where are we going to find that many socks at this hour?

In the drawer.

i'm pretty sure that my entire house doesn't have that many socks

Perhaps we could do it with underpants.

@JSBձոգչ you'd be surprised. If they disappear at a rate of just a sock a week...

> 4. What will happen to the help site when Google Apps for Teams is dropped in September?
This caused an uproar at the meeting yesterday.

12:52 PM
is that the Project Lead's site?

To be fair, something with a name as horrible as "Google Apps for Teams" must fail. Everything else just isn't par for the course.

@MattЭллен Yep.

@RegDwightАΑA Golf is an Olympic sport now?
