One of the kids I tutored sprang from the roof. It was horrible, I had no fucking clue. He always seemed cheerful and extremely nice, a promising kid, school went OK, he was in all sorts of artistic programmes.
one-letter edits are not allowed. I remember reading about this a while back on some meta site and it was decided that they were a bad idea... but so often typos are one-letter edits.

@rumtscho /'a-nə-kə van 'xiːrs-bɛrxə/, but van will easily become /fa/ in casual speech. My IPA my not be completely right, but it will be reasonably close.
@Cerberus The end is different, if it is the same sound as in the English word "farmer". But Cyrillic is not that specific, so it goes with the slightly wrong transliteration.
I speak German, and written Dutch has always looked like 35% German and 25% English to me, with some misleading endings thrown in. So I tend to imagine it is pronounced like German.
@rumtscho Right, the n at the end in Cyrillic is how perhaps some Dutch dialects would pronounce it, and how I would pronounce it on the telephone, if I had to make sure you understood the name correctly. But the n at the end is normally not pronounced in Dutch.

@MattEllenД It has a characteristic taste, a tangy or tart flavor. I would think it has properties that mean it can't easily be made into some kinds of cheese. I have most often encountered softer goat's milk cheeses, and never, for example, a goat's milk cheddar.
@aediaλ There are goat's milk cheeses of all types. I haven't seen cheddar, but I've eaten goat's gouda. You can make cheese from practically any milk, the trouble is to get it out of the animal first.
I have always wondered what there is no cheese made by other milks either than cow, goat or sheep. Are they not suitable for humans? Do they taste bad? Is it even possible to make dairy products with them?
@Cerberus The d is quite wrong, but at least to me, sound better than the "z" Germans pronounce when confronted with the hard "th" sound. The "ng" has a more pronounced "g" than the original.
Now I want a hard cheddar and some chèvre. It's hours until I'm home for dinner. Who started this!? Shouldn't oughtn't to be able to make me hungry glares at stomach.
@Cerberus The Germans do the exactly same thing. Funny how Germans and Dutch don't pronounce their languages in the same way, but make the same mistakes when pronouncing English.
And I don't know many Germans who speak Plattdütsch. More Bairisch and Schwäbisch.

@rumtscho Deletion is irreversible, and a lot of people commit a lot to their contributions. As such we make deletion difficult to make sure it doesn't happen without confirming that the owner of the account is absolutely certain behind the action.
@Cerberus Because as a user, I like to think that I have that much control over my own account. I'd like to be able to delete it if I feel like it, instead of having to go through hoops for it, and wonder if the site owner will ever allow it or not.
@rumtscho That's something I like on most sites, but when you license your work with a CC license, I do think it makes sense to be sure someone doesn't want public attribution anymore.
"Motioning for" sounded like a parliament member who is begging for the right to say something even when he knows that the other MPs won't listen to him anyway, if they've come to work at all.
@rumtscho I'm not exactly the wisest in my word choices. Sometimes I pick words that mean things horribly different than what I intend because they're the first word that comes to mind that is remotely associated with the concept I wish to portray.

If people are willing to draw random people on the internet that they've never met as cute girls, then there's going to be renditions of things from books as well. Naturally, Alice in Wonderland is the most popular but you could find stuff if one endeavored to look far enough.
Sure there is fanart of books. But if I want to post Liesel Meminger from The book thief as my avatar, and somebody has drawn her, there isn't much sense of using the drawing.

I like the details in the anime chogath, with beauty spots and all. But some teeth could have made her more recognizable, especially when shown in half height.
I have tethered my laptop to my phone over bluetooth, using the phone's Internet connection.
The phone is on the charger.
And the combination of bluetooth and gprs uses up a full battery within 3 hours.
I understand that it happens when the phone is used on the road, but when it is connected to the mains, it should be able to cover its energy from the grid, instead of discharging at a higher rate than it is charging.
