As the Christian God is the God of Jesus, yes.
but what the Christians (at least the trinitarian ones) define as 'God' is not what Muslims define as God.
so the question, as phrased, is ambiguous.

in islam we worship one and only one god

at least that's how I see it.

yeah... I have to think about the question some more.
Moham, Christians would say that they believe in one God too.

and as there is a Unitarian thread in the tapestry that is Christianity, clarifying what you mean by the "Christian God" is probably necessary.

I believe in one God and the teachings of Jesus - thus I consider myself Christian. However I have trouble with the trinity - which puts me at odds with some friends.

7:02 PM
but 1=3 in Christianity and that doesn't make sense

The theory is as water can be ice, water, or steam, God can be man, God, and the Holy Spirit. But I'm not trying to debate that in the question
I have a 5 year old son. Want to guess what the first things he heard was? It was me telling him that there was only one God, 3 times.

hhhhhhhhh

He was still wet from the womb
but anyway.
back to work. I'll rephrase the question later if it doesn't get downvoted. If it gets downvoted then I'll ask to close or delete it myself.

i voted to close it already.
nothing personal, just don't want anyone to worry about answering it until it's clear.

@DanAndrews that is awesome :) acquaint your son with his Lord the moment he steps into this world
some Muslims do similar things
whisper the call to prayer in a newborn's ears
(which includes the testimony of faith - that there is no deity worth worshipping except Allah)

@Ansari The recent discussion.. bring a question to my mind. Does islam have a flag? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_flags

good question
i'm not sure about the answer

*brings

i know sometimes the sahaba carried standards into battle

yes..

but i don't know whether they were always the same or whether they were tied to a specific commander or what

7:15 PM
with "La ilaha illa Allah"
white or black flages

i see

*flags

haha well black flags have a different connotation now

lol

"an army of 70,000 from khurasan with black flags"

7:17 PM
iirc, the prophet tended to just use a plain black or green standard, no symbols.

I should find some hadeeth regarding it
if there is one

(this feels like a good question to post)
even if you end up answering it yourself, the question is legit.

+1 @goldPseudo for recognizing the obvious :P

okay :D Now, that I have approval from the community..I can ask :)

7:36 PM
I guess I missed @DanAndrews, I don't think he should have deleted his question.
/me shrugs

salam alaykum all

@Ershad Well, it's generally known as Turkish delight, but I think it's fair to say that Cyprus and Turkey have somewhat strained relations. (My granddad was from Famagusta. He was living in England at the time of the invasion, and never went back to Cyprus.)
@goldPseudo There certainly are non-Trinitarian versions of Christianity, but it's fair to say they're in the minority.

@TRiG There seems to be some history behind the sweet.
@HaLaBi Walaykkum assalam
@ashes999 Long time, no see
assalamu alaykkum

The question per time rate seem to be decreasing on the main site, is it normal?

we're still early in beta. it's fine.
we just need to get our traffic up first.

7:50 PM
I don't suppose we exhausted questions right :D

a lot of our questions so far have been the so-called "easy questions." now that they've been asked, we're dealing with the regular day-to-day questions that people come up with.
which are supposed to make up the majority of our site traffic.
so once we get our visits per day up to recommended levels, the questions per day should go up as well.
God willing.

yeah most of the askers seem to be the usual suspects
very few new users
and the new users we do get
seem to want to peddle an agenda :S

as long as they're peddling within the rules of the site, more power to 'em.

@Ansari I didn't understand your last sentence.

i meant they are pushing some kind of agenda

7:53 PM
Oh, I see.

?
Any recommendations for tags for my question
?

Which one?

I am going to ask one.. Does Islam have a flag
caliph is a good tag

real-or-not ?
myth-or-not?

is there a pre-existing tag like that?

8:00 PM
I don't think so.

your questions is good.. but hard to answer...

'history' would probably be a good tag. since in essence it's asking what, historically, the muslim flag originally was.

it is reallllly quite today.. whats up

@TRiG I am not sure if your question is on topic or not :/

Q: How do Deaf Muslims interact?

TRiGSigned languages depend not just on movements of the hands, but on subtle facial cues. Direction of eye gaze, puffed cheeks, and mouth movements are all essential elements of a signed language. Given that, are deaf Muslim women expected to be completely isolated from society, or are there special...

seems like more about Muslims (the people) than Islam (the religion) to me, but it seems to be on borderline.
I wonder what @goldPseudo would think, but I guess he is idle.
I mean away.

10:12 PM
yo

yo!

the question looks on topic, but it needs scope to be answered.
i left a comment.
since there's (fundamentally) no reason in Islam a muslim woman can't just use sign language like any other deaf person.
the question is, in particular, looking for perspective from the "mandatory face-covering veil" schools, and whether they have special rulings for deaf people.
in my opinion, it should be closed as not-a-real-question until it's fixed. it needs work.
but it is fundamentally on-topic.
