Q: can I safely use my English xbox 360 in slovakia

JimHi just a quick question for anybody with the knowledge I've brought my xbox 360 from England with me to slovakia can I use it here or will it blow up if plug it in?

Q: How do I enable bumper cars on any map?

meme scientistHow do I enable the bumper cars function on my map? What command would let me use bumper cars on any map? I've heard sometimes that if you try to add bumper cars they won't show, is this actually an issue, and if so, how do I fix this?

Q: Company of Heroes 2: How is the artilery in compare to CoH1?

Andreas M.In CoH 1 the artilery was quite annoying, because it had high range (almoust over whole map) and could be fired quite frequently. If you build a bunker it could be destroyed by one artilery. Or your base could be attack by artilery whole game. How is it in CoH 2 in comparison to CoH 1?

I agree it was unneeded!
I AGREE WITH FRANK. BURN YOUR COMPUTERS

I think the edit was an improvement, but I'm fine with the original title as well.
I alo need to go home.

I also agree with @Wipqozn. Unneeded != must be rolled back

@Sterno Nah, not going to do that.
But if @James wants to, he has my support.

6:05 PM
Crap. I think my PS4 (which has been updated) is currently in rest mode

WHAT IS THIS
PEOPLE AGREEING WITH EACH OTHER
I CANNOT TURN MY BACK AND IT'S ALL AGREEMENT
I HAVEN'T SEEN SO MUCH AGREEMENT SINCE THE LAST EULA I HAVE READ

Don't worry, there's some disagreement over on Parenting
Some of the answers help explain that guy in the Kohl's dressing room /cc @LessPop_MoreFizz

@Frank If I want to what?

@James Rollback that edit that changed your title.

Ah yeah
Ill roll back
because that is taken from a line in the intro of the game
So people with the answer will get the reference :)

6:08 PM
Oh, hmm, do Youtube videos not get one-boxed in answers?

@Frank Thanks for letting me know

@Powerlord they should

@Powerlord Only on gaming and one other site iirc

@James Not a problem.

I wonder why it's not one-boxing in an answer I'm writing.

6:09 PM
I dunno. It might not in the preview

Some per-site preprocessing steps don't show up in the preview

A: How do I enable bumper cars on any map?

PowerlordWhile you can addcond 82 to do it using cheats, the bumpercar model and sounds won't be loaded if you do that. You really need a server plugin to do it correctly. As of right now, there are 3: Kartify by Dr. McKay Bumper Cars by Chdata Bumpa Cars! by Matt_ Of these 3, the first two were upd...

There should be a video one-boxed at the bottom of that

@Powerlord there is

Yep, shows up for me

What they said

6:10 PM
Hmm, must be blocked where I work

Service launch in 2 hours
We are all kind of nervous and preoccupied here today :D

Which is weird seeing as how Youtube isn't blocked.

@Powerlord I think embed requests go to a different server

Wait, maybe not

6:12 PM

@Powerlord You could always check the network tab of the dev console to see if some request is failing

@murgatroid99 Good point

@Rapitor No automation?

@Batophobia idk i just started

@JasonBerkan Keep in mind that some heroes are just plain worse then others when it comes to keeping your gilds on them. Fisherman is pretty bad IIRC see here for some more info.

6:14 PM
For those of you who play Destiny, I'm having trouble seeing how this question is answerable:
4
Q: What Are the Implications of the Destiny Reporting System

dsaraWithin Destiny you can report players. At first I thought this was for only negative feedback but after using it to report someone for a negative thing I found out that you can report people for positive behavior as well. I searched around and was unable to find whether any amount of reporting ...

@Frank unless you are Bungie, it's not

Everything in the question and single answer point to this being a developer only thing.
@Rapitor Well, we're going to need more close votes on it.

@JasonBerkan when I had 3 heroes gilded, I had Brittany, Samurai and Frostleaf and they were really good.

@Frank There's nothing inherent in the question that says Bungie couldn't have released information about it

@murgatroid99 But that's still developer only information.

6:16 PM
@Frank I don't think we should close questions because it turns out that only the developer has the information

@murgatroid99 Well, I don't even see a network request for it... it does show up as unblocked in the Adblock Plus option, but I'm also seeing some "blockpage" things, meaning that something is being blocked by our web filter here.

@Frank if the information is released to public, is it developer only though?

Informatino!
I just wrote a database migratino a moment ago, too!

@Sterno I have no idea what you're talking about

@murgatroid99 No, we close questions that we, as gamers, cannot answer.
@Chippies Yes. Because it requires a developer to have actually talked about it.
And Arqade isn't a news site, for us to just repeat what developers have said.

user15026
6:18 PM
@Frank I disagree - if the infomation can be found publicly, and thus linked to/quoted in some way, it works

We're back to differing definitions of "intent", just like that league question weeks ago

@Frank we mostly just google information and repeat it, so how is this different?

@AshleyNunn That's...a stance our current policy does not support.

@Frank That's incorrect

user15026
@Frank I disagree wholeheartedly

6:19 PM
@Chippies Is this information something you can objectively test and verify?

@Frank yes, I have answered multiple questions without even playing the game in question, because I can google stuff

@Frank Many of our answers don't satisfy that

@murgatroid99 Wanna point me at the policy that says we allow these questions if a developer has answered them?
@Chippies And can players objectively test and verify your information?

@Frank You're the one making the assertion. Point to the part of the policy that says we close questions because we don't have the answer

@Frank I see your point

6:20 PM
@murgatroid99 That's been my understanding from the beginning. If it requires a developer to have talked about it in order for us to answer it, it doesn't belong here.

user15026
@Frank I've answered many this way, and they have been accepted by the community. Heck, people have accepted and encouraged me EMAILING indie devs and such to ask them things.

@Frank I'm not asking for your understanding. Can you point to a rule that says that?

@murgatroid99 Can you point me to a rule that says otherwise?

user15026
For example, if a Blizz dev pops into a forum and says "thing x works way y" and thus it is posted where ANYONE can see it, why can't we use it?

user15026
@Frank I don't think we have a clear hard policy on what "dev only" is, really

user15026
6:22 PM
Mind you, we have various rules around "publicly available knowledge"

@AshleyNunn A question getting a dev answer doesn't automatically mean we keep the question.

@Frank You're the one saying it should be closed. You should back that up with a close reason

@murgatroid99 I am.

user15026
@Frank I am not saying it does, but it is a valid answer.

> Questions about Game Design and Development are off topic. This includes speculative questions about developer intent, with respect to both mechanics and narrative.
From the close reason.

6:22 PM

Q: Is "This question requires developer only knowledge" the same thing as developer intent?

UnionhawkThe question I have in mind, in particular, is this one. There are arguments being made that this question is off topic because it requires developer insight in order to have a 100% authoritative answer. Does this fall under the category of developer intent or not?

user15026
@Frank Key word - "speculative"

^ relevant

@Frank This isn't about "developer intent"

@murgatroid99 What else is it?

@Frank Developer knowledge. It is a factual question about the game, not what the developer intended to do

user15026
6:23 PM
If I can say "word of God says x" for some value of God and x, with backup proof from a screen shot/forum post/blog post etc, why cant it be true?

user15026
Why is that unacceptable to you?

@murgatroid99 Okay, point me to where in the game it tells you where this is.

If the question is "why did Bungie make the reporting system work that way", yes, that's intent. The question is "How does this thing work?".

user15026
@Frank Just because it isn't IN the game does NOT make it a bad answer

@Frank Not everything that's not answered in the game is developer intent
That's a false dichotomy

user15026
6:24 PM
Just because you found it from other places doesn't mean it doesn't relate to the game and work.

@AshleyNunn And repeating what a developer has said isn't on-topic. Unless you can objectively verify and test it.

user15026
@Frank Why?

@Unionhawk And the answer is, "We dunno. Only Bungie does."

@Frank That's not an on-topicness test in any actual rule we actually have

@Frank I would like to point out that this has been discussed before, and consensus disagrees.

user15026
6:25 PM
If a dev says x, then we now know it.

@AshleyNunn Because that's our on-topic stance.

user15026
@Frank Where?

user15026
I have NEVER seen that.

@Frank You keep saying that, but you haven't actually given a reference for that

@AshleyNunn We are not a news site.

user15026
6:26 PM
@Frank I fail to see what this assertion has to do with the matter at hand

We don't play to just repeating what devs have said.

@Frank That doesn't mean that everything developers has ever said is off topic

user15026
@Frank WHy not?

Which is all we can do for those types of questions.

user15026
6:26 PM
If it answers the question, and solves the problem, then it is a VALID response

@AshleyNunn Because what they say != what is true.

user15026
@Frank That makes zero sense

@AshleyNunn Xbone.
They said it was always online.
It's not.
Case in point.

user15026
@Frank And then the info CHANGED.

6:27 PM
If you would like to make another case as to why this is developer intent, go ahead

user15026
Change happens.

@Frank They didn't lie. They changed their minds
@Unionhawk go away with your facts. We're arguing

As it is, the community seems to disagree with you.

user15026
They didn't give false info, they gave the best info they had at the moment they said it

@murgatroid99 But just repeating what devs say doesn't help us, Arqade, nor the internet at large.

user15026
6:27 PM
by that metric giving anything that changes with a patch should be closed

@Frank That's not for you to decide

user15026
@Frank How does that even? That makes zero sense. It helps plenty!

user15026
I don't think you can speak for the entire internet, just saying.

@AshleyNunn How? How does parrotting what a dev has said help?

We don't have any rule that says we shouldn't have these questions, and community consensus disagrees with you

6:28 PM
How does that play to our expertise?

How does that do anything but risk information changing. Information that we can't test, nor verify.

21 different people disagree with what you are saying right now.

Q: What does "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" do?

BatophobiaI realize that many times when there is an issue with a game on Steam, it can be solved with "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". But, what exactly does this do? I tried running Darksiders and it gave me an error of "Missing Executable", so I figured the verify would easily catch that and install ...

@murgatroid99 I'd say that's exactly what you're doing.

user15026
6:29 PM
@Frank It answers the question asked!

Just because the developers can answer it easily does not mean players cannot figure it out

@AshleyNunn A question that was off-topic to begin with!

@Frank You're the one who started this conversation by saying we should close a question. You're the one who said we have a rule against this

@murgatroid99 And I'm pointing to exactly why it is.

But you haven't provided any justification for those claims

6:29 PM
Look at the answer!
It's a sheer, straight up guess!
It's speculation!

Questions don't start closed and require people to prove it should be re-opened.

it's no different than figuring out the exact capture rate of different Pokeballs or best builds for a certain character

@Frank That doesn't mean the question is speculative

How is that not developer only information!?

6:30 PM
@Frank WE DON'T HAVE A RULE AGAINST THAT

@Unionhawk Yes. Shut up. I'm arguing.
@murgatroid99 Yes, we do.

All right, if you are going to ignore the community, then I'm done arguing.

@Frank No, we don't

@Frank I thought we weren't allowed to ban questions based on what the answers will be

That's literally why we don't allow questions that only developers can answer.

6:31 PM
intent != knowledge

Ah, THIS is the bridge
What's the question we're talking about?

@Unionhawk Same. This is like talking to a wall

"Can you enter an unwinnable situation in game x" is not inherently unanswerable, it may be unanswerable in a specific case

Talking to a wall would be more productive.

We don't allow questions that only developers can answer so we wouldn't have to argue with @Frank!

I think

@TimStone yeah

@murgatroid99 Nothing you've said has been anything but, "We allow questions that require dev only knowledge". And I am specifically pointing to our stance that has said we don't.

I love you guys. So much drama today

@Frank are you arguing that the answer should be deleted or that the question should be closed?

6:32 PM
That question is in no way developer only knowledge. Players can apply science to it

1 min ago, by Origami Robot
intent != knowledge

@badp Question closed.

@Frank Unionhawk has repeatedly linked to the answer that says that the rule you referenced didn't apply. And you just ignored it

@OrigamiRobot If you're going to play semantics, I'm not even going to bother.
@murgatroid99 Yes, because I'm arguing one point at a time.

@Frank That is the point

6:33 PM
I'm not getting sucked into separate side discussions.

I popped in my head on mobile and saw drama so I decided to come join the room.

We're all making that same point
That's the same argument everyone else in the room has been making the entire time

user15026
@Frank I am still not convinced.

@murgatroid99 And, as usual, I'm getting dogpiled. So sue me for trying to argue with one person at a time.

Yeah I'm not seeing it

6:34 PM
It's not a separate side-discussion. You asked for the rule that says this is not off-topic. I delivered that for you.

You don't have to argue with one person at a time. Everyone is saying the same thing.

@Frank If everyone disagrees with you, maybe it's time to reconsider your position

Can we answer this question? As it currently stands, is this answerable?
That's what I was asking from the beginning.

@Frank That's not a criteria for determining whether a question is on topic. And it never has been

@murgatroid99 Perhaps people should not dogpile?

user15026
6:35 PM
@Frank Just because a lot of people disagree with you, and are trying to explain and express such, does not mean that we are dogpiling, we just all happen to have a different shared stance than the one you possess.

OK, how about this. Forget all other discussions and read the link that @Unionhawk provided.

@AshleyNunn And you're all arguing different aspects of that argument.

@Frank Perhaps you shouldn't characterize everyone disagreeing with your stance as an attack on you

user15026
@Frank Because we are separate people with separate views that are part of one relatively cohesive whole.

@murgatroid99 Kinda hard not to when I'm getting three different people saying I'm wrong.

6:36 PM
Nothing else matters. We have +20/-4 that this sort of thing is not developer intent.

user15026
This is a risk that one takes when arguing an unfavoured position in a large group.

user15026
@Unionhawk That sounds like a pretty clear decision to me

@Frank Don't take disagreement so personally. If everyone thinks you're wrong, maybe you are

Everything you are saying is very neatly refuted in @Unionhawk's link.

SO, no. I'm not going to argue this with more than one person at a time. Don't like it, don't care.
Are you ceding your spot, @murgatroid99?

user15026
6:37 PM
@Frank That's fine, that's the joy of async chat

user15026
But it is also a public, open room, so people can and will respond as they like, regardless of what order you are responding in

user15026
@Frank Hostility helps not in this sort of case.

@AshleyNunn That's not hostility. That's me imposing some order on it.

@Frank Key word: imposing

user15026
@Frank Also, a good thing to remember, is that you don't necessarily need to respond to every statement. It is not up to you to solo "impose" order here

6:38 PM
I will take all comers, and I'm much more open to changing my mind when I'm not trying to juggle several different strands at the same time.

Q: Can trapping one goblin prevent all spawns in a biome?

Someguy112161I had an interesting thought while browsing the terraria wikis. It claims that the goblin army blocks biome spawns. Could someone lure a goblin into a hole and trap it to avoid fighting any enemies in that biome? If so, will it work in the corruption for farming The Eater of Worlds (or any othe...

@Frank OK, fine, how about you respond to the highly voted answer linked by Unionhawk next?

@AshleyNunn If you'll notice, I've been focusing on trying to respond to only a single person.
Only to have that characterized as talking to a wall.

user15026
@Frank I am not sure why you are saying this to me specifically

read the answer I posted, then come back to me.

6:40 PM
@AshleyNunn Because you're the one saying I don't have to respond to every statement.

I also vote for you to read @Unionhawk's link

Apparently, not responding = talking to a wall.
I don't play Destiny, which is why I was asking in the first place.
This specific question, is this data testable?
Is there any feedback given to when you vote for or against someone?

user15026
@Frank I am not sure where you assume that me saying you don't have to respond to everything also implies some sort of talking to a wall

@Frank We have now all asked you to respond to a specific argument. Will you?

10 mins ago, by Unionhawk
Talking to a wall would be more productive.
@murgatroid99 That's what I'm doing.
The LoL question at least had something to point to and test.

6:42 PM
@Frank It's frankly not our fault that you actively refuse to use meta

user15026
@Frank That's fine but that has NOTHING at all to do with ANYTHING I personally have said.

@Frank That was rude and I apologize, however, I would like to point out that the community disagrees with you.

pun not intended

@Frank: The question is essentially asking "What does this in-game feature do?", which is perfectly on-topic. That's how I view the question, which is why I think it's fine.

user15026
We've discussed dev intent/dev knowledge before on Meta, take it there if you have a problem with the current decision

user15026
6:43 PM
Question seems to ask "what does x do" and while we might not know what x does, it doesn't mean no one will, or no one does

@Frank As this quote was prompted by a similar quote from me, I also apologize

@Unionhawk I wasn't all that polite, either, so I guess we can call it a wash.

user15026
it just means none of us currently do, and thus people may postulate

@Wipqozn And that's a good viewpoint. I didn't see it like that.

In lore, people may seek an answer where there just isn't one

6:44 PM
@AshleyNunn and, hopefully, the long tail will pick up with a real answer when one becomes obvious

This isn't the case here.

I read the second paragraph, "I searched around and was unable to find whether any amount of reporting (good or bad) actually has an affect on the players you're reporting. If anyone knows what the implications of the reporting system is I would welcome the information."
And then I asked for someone that plays Destiny to answer a question for me.

user15026
@Frank Again, this is something that will, in all likelihood, be revealed at some point

@Frank Yeah, I suspected you were looking at it differently than I was.

It looked like someone asking for developer information, to me.

6:48 PM
Developer information is irrelevant. Intent is not the same as knowledge.

user15026
@Frank Which is, I think, where things went south, because developer intent and developer info are not the same thing

@AshleyNunn coming back into the conversation, but Bungie used a similar reporting system in the halo games. there was still no definitive answer.

@Frank OK, now that we've established that, can you please respond to the meta answer that indicates that developer information != developer intent?

user15026
@Rapitor Which is fair, but it doesn't mean that there can't be one

user15026
Just because there hasn't been in the past doesn't mean that there can't be one in the future

6:49 PM
@Rapitor And that's also not a good reason to keep someone from asking

@murgatroid99 That's still not something I'm clear on. A question that requires knowledge from the developer to answer is still off-topic. For the LoL question, there's something to point to and test to at least get close to what the answer probably is.
The difference for this question, so far as I know, is that there's nothing there for us to be able to test.
Destiny players, feel free to correct me.

@Frank That second sentence contradicts that meta answer

@murgatroid99 Can we make a reasonable assessment on what this functionality does?
Serious question. I don't play Destiny. I don't know.

@Frank If you want to handle stuff one at a time, can you stick to the topic at hand

@murgatroid99 That's what I'm doing.

6:52 PM
You said that "A question that requires knowledge from the developer to answer is still off-topic"
The meta answer disagrees

Last paragraph from the answer: Sure we can't prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt, but we can make a reasonable assessment based on experience, and the knowledge we can uncover. But that does not make it off-topic.

Having reported people for both good and bad nothing seems to happen.

Can you justify your statement?

One could theoretically organize hundreds of players to report eachother, a hundred other players to not report eachother, try to synch the entering of an instance as they each play a hundred games, and see whether there are statistically significant differences

@murgatroid99 That's the whole reasoning for the, "Why did they design it that way?" type of question. And is there to prevent speculation and rumors from clogging up answers.

6:53 PM
I'm not saying it would be easy, but it is certainly testable

@Frank That's not what I'm asking. The meta question says it's on topic. You say it's off topic

or as simple as have hundreds of people report BanTest123, and see if he gets banned

For a full answer on this question, right now I'm getting the feeling that it requires a developer to properly answer. In which case, the fallback: is this something we can objectively test?

Sure, I could buy destiny and you could all report me as negative, and we'll see if anything happens.
I won't, but we can

@murgatroid99 The meta says something that we can test to get to a reasonably close objective answer is something we would allow.

6:54 PM
@Frank OK, if you're just going to ignore that meta, can you provide a source indicating that objective testability is a criteria for determining whether a question is on topic

@murgatroid99 I'm not ignoring it! I'm trying to point out the difference between the question it was about, and the one we're currently talking about!

Is answerability something we decided was a good metric recently? I thought answerability being a bad metric was one of the reasons we had trouble with a lot of Lore questions

@Frank The most important quot from that answer:
> As we have discussed before, answerability is a horrible metric for whether or not a question should be considered on-topic or not.

@murgatroid99 And I agree with that.
But developer only knowledge is a separate issue.

@Frank So we shouldn't close a question because we can't answer it

6:56 PM
@Frank Literally nowhere do I mention ability to test in that meta answer.

Last paragraph from the answer: Sure we can't prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt, but we can make a reasonable assessment based on experience, and the knowledge we can uncover. But that does not make it off-topic.
reasonable assessment = something to point to and verify, no?

user15026
@Frank But that DOES NOT make it off topic

> that does not make it off-topic

Okay, we're starting the whole different stance thing again.

@Frank I'm sorry that there are multiple reasons why you're wrong

6:58 PM
@Frank No.

@AshleyNunn I admit, I didn't see that question as asking about an in-game mechanic. Now that I see it as that, alright, yeah, we can keep it.
We just need to police answers so that they back up their statements, and aren't speculation or based on rumors.

"point to and verify" would be the "sure we might not be able to prove something beyond a reasonable doubt but" bit

@Unionhawk Which makes it a reasonable assessment, no?

@Frank That's called voting, no?

is speculation bad for an answer? I thought that was just something that got downvoted if it was insufficiently supported

@OrigamiRobot Yup. And I'm happy to downvote answers that don't back up their speculation.

Q: Skip mantle question when launching game

KexloxI have an nvidia gpu and as such will not be launching Beyond Earth with the mantle option. Is there a way to bypass the start up option of launching in normal mode or mantle mode, and just always default to normal?

Oh hey, it's lunch time

So, do we still want to discuss this in the general case? Because I agree with seeing it as a mechanic question makes it on-topic.

user15026
@Frank Nope

7:02 PM
@AshleyNunn TOO LATE! I ALREADY CONCEDED! NOT STARTING THIS AGAIN!

@Frank aka wipqozn saved the day and is a hero

Q: What determines how strong a fish is?

BatophobiaOccasionally while fishing, I will get a message like this: What affects these events? Do all instances of a single fish type have the same strength? How can I lower the chance of these happening?

@Powerlord @Unionhawk what's not to enjoy?

7:56 PM
