The combat is active and engaging, the art style is gorgeous, they're really focusing on bringing the strong co-operative elements into the game by removing stuff like having to "tag" a kill first to ensure you get xp (people get credit for kills simply by participating), making it so crafting nodes are personal so you don't end up missing harvesting a node because someone else took it while you were fighting to clear mobs.

There's a big emphasis on exploration to find quests rather than just being being told to go from quest hub to quest hub. Your "Personal Story" quests are marked, and you'll be told where to find some NPCs, but you can often just organically find quests just by running into them.

Also, the amount of experience it takes to level doesn't go up continuously, so you don't need to spend more and more time grinding leveling like in other games. The amount of xp needed to level caps out at around 30, iirc.

And they will also have a "sidekicking" system similar to City of Heroes' system, where you can team with friends and your power level is adjusted to be the same, so you don't have to worry about not being able to team with people because you've outleveled them or aren't caught up with them.

If you're into PvP, you can also level via PvP without doing PvE stuff, should you so desire to do so.

It's fairly evident due to all these things that the GW2 team took the time to look at what parts of MMOs aren't fun, and either remove those things, or improve upon them.

The main thing that I am worried about in the game that there is no news on yet is whether or not the game will be region-locked.

Because if I have to buy a US-copy to play with US friends even though I live in the EU, I'm going to be super sadface.

I like the way it worked in the original GW where there was the international servers you could jump on.

@Wipqozn Yeah, it's a really big concern for me. For example, City of Heroes, until recently, had it so that the US and EU clients were completely separate, so if you bought the game in the US, you couldn't access the EU server list at all and vice versa.

Aion did the same.

I dunno how SWTOR did it.
