@ArdaXi This. "Crippled" can sometimes sort of imply that they're unable to do things as well as people who aren't, aka there's something wrong with them
@OrigamiRobot You're trying to tell me that there isn't something wrong with them? It doesn't make them a worse person, but trying to avoid acknowledging that they can't do some of the things other people can do isn't going to help anything either.
@GnomeSlice I just find it hard to believe you can't understand how some people might find this offensive. You're thick-skinned and logical thinking, clearly, but some people aren't.

@ArdaXi In the 1970s/1980s, in Germany, the autonomous disability rights movement , also called cripples movement, took confidently claim for themselves, this word in the sense of a Reappropriation.

This is why I try to bring up stuff that I find offensive here. Because you know what? I like this site and I like the people here. And I want other people to like it as much as I do. But other people are less likely to like it too if we have a chat environment where people feel unsafe about speaking up about how words affect them.
Now, you can argue about the validity of action to be taken on the offence, for example, if I claim to be offended by the word 'Hello', I doubt the message will be removed, but I still have the right to feel offended.
@alexanderpas You can't make a blanket statement about an entire population though by saying "It's okay to say it because they're taking it back!" Not everyone in that population feels the same way.
Sometimes you have to be insensitive to make your statement. People believing in fairytales, yet picking and choosing what they believe of that fairy tail are delusional.
@alexanderpas It's not to everyone. I know part of the issue here is base cultural differences, but it's not cool when somewhere you like to be isn't somewhere you feel comfortable.
