@SmokeDetector fp

tsk tsk

NitroShare for Android 0.4.0.21 is rolling out.

tsk tsk

12:27 AM
It is the first release to support Android => PC transfers.
You'll also need to grab a daily build of the desktop app.

don wanna

Maybe later when I finish getting PC => Android transfers working?

mebeh
someone made an Xposed module for Nougat...
and claims it'll work when Xposed for Nougat comes out

Uhm.
Nougat is already out.

Xposed for Nougat is not out

12:31 AM
Oh.

read
pls
oh Android Pay and the Huawei P10 are coming to Canada soon

nitroshare for browser when

hue
who's making the SE chat app?

@TheWanderer I already have the app.
Problem is, my Visa won't work with it.

I think that's the point
doesn't accept Canadian cards

12:33 AM
@Avery That is planned for the distant future, but it is planned.
@TheWanderer I am if things ever settle down here.

@NathanOsman wanna try a collab?

I is too busy.
@TheWanderer Possibly. How would you go about this?

GH and VCS?

My initial plan was to just take my sechat Go binary and use Process to interact with it.

meh
let's go full Java
orrrrrrrr

12:35 AM
Since my Go binary already connects to the chat API and does all the things.

wait until AS 3.0 and do it in Kotlin :D

That sounds tempting.

I think a native app would be best though

If we did do it in Java/Kotlin, would there be a foreground service that keeps a WebSocket connection open or would we just do occasional polling?
Polling means we lose realtime notifications.

well what about GCM?

12:36 AM
Foreground means we have an ugly notification all the time.
@TheWanderer Doesn't that require a server running something somewhere?

SE does it in the app
@NathanOsman idk

...and therefore everyone handing us their login credentials? >:)

NitroShare listens for TCP connections so it has to do the ugly notification. At least I can keep it out of the top bar.

ah it does I guess
we could put an option in

12:38 AM
Poll vs. realtime?

Okay.
I have an icon and name for the app that I'm willing to donate for this purpose.

orly
hmm

we're gonna need to figure out the Google Play part

12:39 AM
Never mind the background.
@TheWanderer One of us can host it and the other can be granted access to the console.

yeah
I know that, but what about the developer name part

Let's come up with a joint name?
Or something.
"HueToYou"

but that means one of us will have to change our dev name right?
@NathanOsman lol

@TheWanderer No.

orly

12:40 AM
Nobody should have to change anything.
NitroShare is using net.nitroshare.android and that isn't a problem.
So com.huetoyou.chatexchange shouldn't be either.

no I mean the developer name seen in the Play listing

Ah.
Well, one of us will just have to be the "lead developer" then.

hmm

Since I'm fairly busy with NitroShare, I'm okay with it being you.

what's your GH name?
@NathanOsman odear lol

12:42 AM
nathan-osman

thx
added to empty repo

Cool, an empty repo.

it's a start
I'll make an empty project now and push it :p

Cool.

zach using git properly???

12:43 AM
Once that's done, I'll add the icon I had made.

ok
@NathanOsman should e have a website for this?

Not yet.
It really doesn't make sense until we have a working prototype.

well would it be something you think we should do eventaully

Eventually, maybe. Although the Play Store listing is usually the "home page" for an app.
That'll be the first place anyone lands.

yeah
I'm just thinking we should match the app ID to the potential domain name

12:48 AM
huetoyou.com is available.

alright lol
we'll do it
@NathanOsman you what's great?
Google handles APK signing keys now
so I can just do all that, and we can both download the keys we need from Console

Yeah, that was a nice addition.
They can also optimize the APK that way.
Though it hasn't made any difference for me yet.

nor here
@NathanOsman had to send you a new invite
I made a repo but Android Studio had other ideas....

Lol.

@NathanOsman license?
MIT?

1:01 AM
@NathanOsman Gonna give that a go! Just upgrade to 17.04 and it downgraded my go from 1.8 to 1.7.4, so I'm dealing with getting that back working
@NathanOsman Any idea why it's installing it to /usr/local/go/bin/go? Installing it via sudo apt install golang-1.8 golang-1.8-go

guess what the keystore password is @NathanOsman

@TheWanderer Sure.
@TheWanderer I gives up. (Do I need to know?)
@RPiAwesomeness The package in the archives is installing to /usr/local...?
That is not supposed to happen.

Yeah...

@NathanOsman huehuehue

#SoundsLegit

1:05 AM
:>

I previously installed it there when I manually installed it in when I was on 16.10, could that be why?

Cannot open project.
@TheWanderer Files is missing.

wat files

@TheWanderer The Gradle project files for one.

oke hang on
pushed
can you put the icon in there so I can upload it to Google?

1:09 AM
Lemme see if the project opens.
Upload it to Google? It doesn't do anything, lol.

yeah but private listing so I can get the keystore to you

Oh.
One sec.
What haz you done...

the gradle configs are looking in Windows directories

Le sigh.

yeah it's annoying

1:13 AM
Want me to nuke the files and create a new empty project?

let me see which files can be deleted
@NathanOsman try deleting the gradle/wrapper directory
and I still need that icon

Nope.
Can't load it still.
Are you sure I can't just nuke the project and create an empty one.

go ahead I guess

Okay.

and then copy the files in?

1:27 AM
Give me 10-15 minutes.
@TheWanderer Yes.

I think I'm going to make an icon with Android Asset Studio
at least temporarily

I have an SVG...

gim

Can I send you that in the meantime.
K. One sec.

@NathanOsman OK app signing set up
what's your Play email?

1:31 AM
Almost has SVG.
nathan.osman@gmail.com

oke

thank
OK GIMP wasn't playing nicely with this vector for some reason so it's gonna be a little pixelly for now
also, invite sent

> Does the app share user-provided personal information with third parties?
hmm

1:36 AM
I'm in.

do it?

No, I don't think it does.

oke
we can always change it

That would mean we were taking the users' information and handing it to someone else.
We aren't doing that.

or are we >:}

1:38 AM
That'll not go well with the victims users.

and we're live-ish
published to private alpha

Woot-ish.

lol-ish

Well that took longer than it should've.

that's what she said

1:40 AM
>.>

wow my first time making that joke...

@NathanOsman That doesn't seem to have fixed it :(

@RPiAwesomeness What?

Oh! Never mind!
That was the issue!
I had to change all of the methods to use pointers
Huzzah \o/

1:42 AM
time for bed
@NathanOsman pls don't break everything
(even though it would more likely be me doing that)

@TheWanderer @NathanOsman What're y'all working on?

Android client for SEChat

Oh cool

Yup.
A combined project.
(Let the horror of that concept slowly sink in...)

oh @NathanOsman we could probably use Azure or Google or Amazon for G/FCM

1:43 AM
I have all kinds of servers.
That won't be an issue when we get that far.

Ooo! I want a server!
:P

no

Q: list all components of an ARM computer in Linux?

PankajI have an ARM based computer that seems to work alright running Ubuntu Linux (non GUI). How do I get a list of all the components that are on this computer ? like type of Ethernet chip, Wifi chip, Bluetooth, CPU, power management chip etc if possible.

@TheWanderer some code was pushed.

@NathanOsman slowly. sinks. in.

Q: How to fix missing characters from font after awakening from suspend?

Paranoid PandaI find that often after awakening from suspend on Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20 (I have only found this issue on the latest version, though I have not tried with GNOME 3.18 on 16.04) that I get this strange font issue which can't be fixed by restarting gnome-shell and seemingly only by resta...

9:53 AM
@ParanoidPanda well it is a good worded question and an annoying issue :=D

10:22 AM
Apologies to users who saw home page errors today (8,372 hits). A single web server went off the rails and is being punished appropriately.

10:40 AM
and "appropriately" means...?

How do I check where the time is spent between typing the password on login and appearing of the desktop?
It's taking too much time

hmm
good question
maybe you should Ask it

When I install and run some applications(video editing tools like OpenShot, Kdenlive or Flowblade), and try to run, it wont work. When i try to run from cmd For example,

$sudo openshot

It gives an error,

Bus error (core dumped)

This is the same error when i try to run other softwares also. I googled but no solution

@Amjith why sudo?

openshot isnt working
when I try to open from the menu, then crash window opens and i can see the same erorr there also

12:45 PM
Why were you using sudo openshot?

no particular reason. i was just confused whether this may be because of permission. So i used sudo in front

Did you try without sudo first?

it didnot work
What might be the reason for error "Bus error (core dumped)"

So you tried without sudo first from terminal?

yes
i did

12:49 PM
what's the output of apt policy openshot and apt policy?

@Amjith It's not that output I wanted.
output of the command "apt policy openshot" and "apt policy"

Let me know how to get the report. I will paste
ok

without the quot marks of course!

apt policy openshot - pastebin.com/fmPpa7ns

12:54 PM
Need to go. I'll be back within 15-20 mins

ok, thanks

Q: Openshot doesn't launch with "failed to import" message

Jorge CastroOpenshot stopped working on my friend's laptop. Running it in a terminal produces this. I suspect a python library it needs was removed. ------------------------- ERROR 1 ------------------------------ Failed to import 'from openshot import main' Error Message: cannot import name main ----------...

@Amjith have you tried this^

I think this isnt an openshot issue. I have Same Bus error when opening other softwares also like Kdenlive or Flowblade

have you tried that one?

logout and login to a guest session and start openshot from there.

1:25 PM
tried
also same error, but the error is differnet. it says some scanned failed

the error isn't same. Now have you grabbed the error message?

Sorry, the error is same in cmd, but the crash popup says some scanner failed to load initially
in the crash window, I am unable to copy the message

You installed it using apt-get right?

yes

Ask a question on the main site

1:32 PM
ok

with all details, how you installed it etc
one thing. What's the output of which openshot?

1:54 PM
@NathanOsman we should use that apl intro slider library for this
that could be where people log in and such

@Amjith have you asked the question?

@Anwar Hi, It was in the pastebin link
I will give now

2:18 PM
@Amjith what's this?

You asked me, What's the output of which openshot?
Openshot isnt giving any output except error message as in the screen

That wasn't the output
You'll type in a terminal "which openshot" and copy paste the output here

$ which openshot
/usr/bin/openshot

I suggested you to ask a question on the site. Did you understand what I mean?

Yes Anwar, I did.

2:22 PM
Have you asked yet?

Q: Ubuntu - Bus error (core dumped)

AmjithRecently i have installed some softwares, mainly video editing softwares like kednlive, Flowblade etc. They all didnot work. When I run on cmd sudo flowblade, I am getting the folowing error *~$ sudo flowblade FLOWBLADE MOVIE EDITOR 0.14rc Launch script dir: /usr/bin Running from installation....

You didn't. I meant ask question on Ask Ubuntu. Here askubuntu.com/questions/ask
And for the sake of God, don't use sudo everywhere. sudo is not a silver bullet for all problem

ok

that's exactly what sudo is though @Anwar
it's just you don't know if what you're shooting should be shot

@TheWanderer open shot?

2:27 PM
wat

kidding :)

I hope this will do

Q: Ubuntu - Bus error (core dumped)

AmjithRecently i have installed some softwares, mainly video editing softwares like kednlive, Flowblade etc. They all didnot work. When I run on those softwares, I am getting the following error $ openshot Added /usr/share/openshot to system path ------------------------- ERROR 1 ---------...

@Amjith good. Add the output of the commands you provided here before. 1) apt policy openshot 2) apt policy 3) which openshot. And don't use > for formatting.

if not formated, all text will be joined

Don't worry. Select them all and then press Ctrl-K

@Anwar what

@TheWanderer it's lifted from the launchpad page

@TheWanderer login is probably too complicated for that. Don't forget, we may eventually want to support OpenID.

yeah hmm

We also need to push the page back in front of the user if the credentials stop working.

4:19 PM
I just want an excuse to use that library :p

We can use it. Just not yet. And not for login.

WE NEED TEH INTROEZ

We need to focus on getting a working prototype.
THEN we add an intro.

INTRO FIRST
AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHGHGHSHS

Otherwise, we're introducing the user to something that doesn't exist :P

4:25 PM
:p
@NathanOsman WELCOME TO.....nothing
we can steal as needed :p
@NathanOsman we should join with that app I think

4:40 PM
Lol.
@TheWanderer Nah, let's do our own thing.
It isn't released under an OSI license anyway.

@NathanOsman I'm talking to them right now

Wat.

it's the room-15 people (Android)

We can do our own thing.

oke

4:49 PM
@Anwar askubuntu.com/questions/919144/… I dont think this is "from openshot import main" issue. The actual problem is "Bus error (core dumped)" which i receive not only for Opensot, but also other software as well. So this might be something else.
