Guys, I am trying to start an open source project to make a software (app) for writing that is cross platform and easy to use, so writers can get into writing and don't get overwhelmed by the app features, I have the design in mind, and I have a programmer (my sister, and she is not so good, this is her first project) so what do you think? Anyone would like to help?

What are you using for development?

Or are you asking for suggestions?

@NathanOsman I am not sure what to use, I am trying to get as much help as possible, all I have is an idea and a design (in mind) and what I want the app to be.

Python with PyQt would be a good choice.

Python because it is an easy language to get started with.

@NathanOsman my sister only knows c++ but the language to use doesn't have to be c++ if that means the app will be better

Qt is actually written in C++, so that might even be easier.

Believe it or not, Qt does actually run on both of those platforms.

But developing for them requires quite a bit of extra learning - QML, deployment, etc.

If you do decide to go C++/Qt, definitely use CMake for building the project.

So I'll give you an idea about the app I want to be made

It will focus on three things, 1 novel writing 2 short-story(articles) 3 moviescript writing.

It will not require the writer to do anything manual, just the wiring, everything should be ready for him as expected in the compelling process.

Is it just me or does setting up a bridged network get easier with every release?

Only had to add three lines to a file and reboot.
