I don't see why you're all so eager to harrass everyone that are just asking questions. We're not doing any harm, and I don't see why all my questions on different matters such as ubuntu or math should be in the same account for everyone to see.

@jrg I'm not sure the bug I mentionned in my question is my problem
as I said, I have a system that is on a 100GB disk, and it's full, although there's no personal files that account for this capacity. So this bug might be part of the problem, but not all of it
the file that regards the bug mentionned is /var/log/kern.log.1, which is 10GB. It's a lot, but not 100
and from what I've read, I also think that this bug actually only happens when the disk has been fulled at least once (it creates 0 length files), so maybe there's another problem (solvable) that created this disk
@jrg no it's only one partition. But I do have other disks (with windows, and personal files)
@aking1012 I was just pointed by someone very kind to this bug, so I included it in an edit to my question. But I'm not even sure it's that related, maybe it's just a symptom of another issue. I can remove the bug part of that question if it would calm you down
1 - Try to download some Ubuntu DVD versions with bit torrent (so it reserves space).
2 - Fill your disk to the maximum and leave something like 5GB.
3 - Wait
4 - Disk space will go to 0 (it doesn't make any sense since space has already been reserved)
5 - Ctrl+Alt+F1
There we can see some messages about ecryptfs :

I don't really know if it's really ecryptfs but it doesn't make any sense that disk space just get used up like this when only my firefox browser and bit torrent are open and not trying to write anything else.
While your disk space is at 0, it's slow as hell and it will swap quite much (even though your ram isn't full).
@jrg I'm trying to confirm it now. If only Virtualbox would hurry up! I just use an external 2TB HDD with some weird setups... Bootable with nouveau, bootable with nvidia-common, and some assorted VBox images... I hold at least 30 small ones, and I can fit about 200.
@bob They are - and this is the last I'm going to say on this topic: This reeks of a bug. And I think you have both of them. However, I will let the community decide what to do.
@jrg in any case both these bugs seem to occur when the disk is full, so we are going in circles. Why would my disk have ever been fulled, if I put nothing on it.
I've installed Matlab R2011a on ubuntu12.04. I've installed it in a folder I've created in the Home Folder.
I can run it if I run the code

Particularly since I've been informed that Stack Overflow has less than a dozen overall tag blacklists. Ask Ubuntu already has 5.
(Do note that at this point, I'm not arguing against this particularly case (more power to whatever we decide!) - I'm just putting this warning out there, since we really are going a little nutty with tag blacklist requests right now. :\ )
If you recall, back in December a lot of things were slipping through the cracks. Not just tag blacklists. ;P so yes, but really that just means someone needs to talk to SE.

I am using 12.04. It's only been installed for a few weeks, and the computer is new too. Yet my 100 GB partition is already full, though nothing is installed, no videos, no images, nothing that would account for 100GB anyway.
One of the problems seems to be coming from /var/log/kernel.log, which...
same as unity i guess. big buttons with no choices...but that's digressing. go with win7. it's more intuitive if you've ever used anything but a smartphone
Anyone know of an alternative to Compiz Annotate for Kubuntu? I'm looking for something that allows me to doodle anywhere on the desktop so I can take a screenshot of it later. I'd like to avoid stand-alone apps like shutter, inkscape, etc
re: wikipedia, i would move on to other things in life from ask ubuntu once i find it is not suitable for me. if it not rewarding or i find better things to do, i would happily move on.

np. which one were you talking about. progress on pyc disasm gui is faster than most, googlemap to obj is being refactored in to pygi opengl, and the game thing is always slow going

Using snd_hda_intel I can't see a microphone in ubuntu sound settings. After changing in pavucontrol from %anything to Analog Stereo Duplex my external mic is recognized and working for a few seconds and afterwards it ...
Sometimes a me-too reply is actually a different related question, so I recommend using a pro-forma comment that suggests that if they have a new question, they should post it separately.

@msPeachy I am not a mod. But yes. Posting a question that is a question that might be a duplicate is much, much better than posting an answer that is not an answer at all. Furthermore, if details differ, it might not really be the same question.
