@KevinSoviero it's actually pretty cool - we're not using it internally because I only have 2 slaves (one in the datacenter, one at the office we use for stats and reporting - and the one in the datacenter goes down every night for backups so I don't want to replicate form it :-)

@MikeyB Seriously, they flatly told me my packet captures were wrong and I was wrong for seeing their box even ask for AAAA records. And they told me my firewall was tunneling and packet mangling and wouldn't hear me out or respond to my analysis. I was... angry.

@Wesley Telnet doesn't do the DNS resolution...the OS does. And unless the OS isn't ipv6-aware (i.e, they're running Win2k or some ancient shit) it could request AAAA records

@Wesley I had an issue with my machine at home getting AAAA records back for google. My router didn't support ipv6 traffic, but the modem (and the ISP) did

@kce you could create a Data Collector Set on your DC with core AD event trace data. analyzing that might help you suss out what is hammering your logs. probably only need to grab a minute's worth of data.
