@M.A.R. thank you, just incorrect question guess reason is fair
Jul 20, 2024 23:08
If that's LLM related, hard for me to settle on "minimal use and mentioning on SO English" because tools like that weighted words graph ranking and easy frequency count can be useful if they work correctly
Jul 20, 2024 23:02
Can someone please hint, why question here was disliked a bit too much https://english.stackexchange.com/q/624484/377727?
Option 1) I suspect is that whole LLM mentioning is a bad tone here: I do know a lot of contributors put soul into answers and mentions may be unpleasant to them. And it was hinted in the comments, but not confirmed.
Option 2) I suspect is just too bad phrasing - since it was necessary to update question for the comments, it's a bit hard to update it fast correctly for me.
Option 3) may be just too easy mood, asking a questions requires more awareness

@Rubén exactly, imperfections are very visible... Still the best site on the internet! And a lot of great people
Oct 27, 2023 18:13
@Rubén Consider closed. I can't imagine solving such questions in packs - getting just this one right without dupe mess is not easy for me. Thanks for your work anyway – without any salt. It's really tough to clean up questions.
Oct 27, 2023 18:10
@Rubén alright, if you still ask this, I guess just let's consider discussion closed. Modders have a lot of problems, may it's too much to ask to dive in one specific subject that much.
Oct 27, 2023 18:07
@Rubén but it worked previously and that't why became famous abbreviation
Oct 27, 2023 18:06
@Rubén of course it's not! I wouldn't go far digging the actual solution and posting it if it worked currently
Oct 27, 2023 18:05
@Rubén it is not principal what Google does: I clearly see that some ways to search give local spam and others (very rare) do not
Oct 27, 2023 18:04
NCR and no local spam is same question - if that's what you mean
Oct 27, 2023 18:02
"Is worldwide Google search (Google NCR) still available?" - does this look better for you?
Oct 27, 2023 18:01
@Rubén you mean phrase "Is worldwide Google search (NCR) still available?" right?
Oct 27, 2023 18:01
@Rubén but people do understand since Safari question exists
Oct 27, 2023 17:52
@Rubén from the start of this discussion, I was trying to emphasise searchability of only working solution I know currently which is adding some REST in request, which I posted (and one other is digged in first duplicate)
Oct 27, 2023 17:49
@Rubén yes, alternative is important, it's just more educated way to ask same
Oct 27, 2023 17:48
@Rubén sites are like top folders – a question can't have both. It's unavoidable that some questions have 50% SU and 50% web and same thing happens consistently.
Oct 27, 2023 17:46
@Rubén I honesty don't want to distract that much about one question, but the last edit and duplicate is misleading, I edited again to try to clarify webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/172537/…
Oct 27, 2023 17:45
@Rubén strict categorization is impossible – this emerges everywhere, including file system tree when you must have one root folder. It's really about tag flexibiliy
Oct 27, 2023 17:41
@Rubén that's probably a classic unsolvable problem of categorization. SE stepped into this like jumping on fresh concrete. It wouldn't be a surprise is some sort of back merge will happen in the future. Tag system solves this with better flexibility.
Oct 26, 2023 22:57
NCR is well known abbreviation, it's supposed and expected to be part of the question... https://www.google.com/search?pws=0&gl=us&gws_rd=cr&fg=1&name=f&hl=en&q=google+ncr#gws_rd=cr&ip=1
Oh great, same subject on Safari not moved and not closed back on SU where I asked...

Oct 26, 2023 02:13
@Rubén was hoping there is a set of specific instructions to check against (like don't use short Q for question), How to Ask is too broad to give an idea - and I glanced it previously. Can't find another duplicate candidate for my question on the site.
Oct 26, 2023 01:58
It seems Goolge NCR ≠ Goolge US - which means it is not correct at all to edit old question and my question is not a duplicate. Oh well.
Oct 26, 2023 01:54
Just in case - I know "how to" is not a question, but can't find any good alternative english.stackexchange.com/a/14482/377727
Oct 26, 2023 01:41
I'm not even sure now if NCR completely equals USA version, of actually it was the holy worldwide Google.
Oct 26, 2023 01:39
To try to clarify: my priority is to ensure fast current 2023 solution search. And minimal duplication, of course.
Which means "NCR" and "ads" better be mentioned in the question.

But adding them to the old question changes it too much and leads to obsolete answers.
So either merge required, either multiple updates of the old question, either completely new question? Not sure what is best, that's why I started all this discussion.
Oh well, I'll just suggest an edit to the old question then - if it works, will delete my QA, if it will be rejected - will try to improve my QA so it was back o

*they matter only if solution is not helping people – related to multiple minor things, wish there was higher edit delay in this chat
Oct 25, 2023 04:41
You mean the old one question with obsolete answers has multiple problems? Sure, I suggested possible improvement O1) https://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/64621524#64621524. Actually, your useful comments about ncr should be in bold on top of the answers rather than just comments.
Or you mean mine question? It was closed as duplicate, not as incorrect.
Minor things like AD instead of ads – sure good fix, but that's just minor edit.
Major problems worth closing – not sure, they matter only if solution is not helping people. I'll try to check that guidance, but then again, questi
Oct 24, 2023 05:38
Ouch, you can't delete messages here ( One of two above not supposed to stay
Oct 24, 2023 05:37
Necessary better solutions:
O1) add Alternative questions (local AD's and NCR) in duplicate and "revive" it.
O2) Mark duplicate as obsolete and move only working answer from it to question similar to mine which is more about up-to-date solution and about NCR.

So my Q
https://webapps.stackexchange.com/q/172537
was closed as a duplicate of
https://webapps.stackexchange.com/q/4667/301323
but that's very far from perfect.
Answers are very close, but problems with close are:
1) my Q targets very different subjects: hiding local AD's and NCR, both not mentioned in duplicate at all.
2) Answers on duplicate are so obsolete, that it seems time to lock it rather than revive.

It's not a bad thing to ask for upvotes for someone else's answer, not related to you, right? It's just so well done answer, please upvote superuser.com/a/1784633/1140679

@JourneymanGeek oh, most I said is related to 1607 answer - virtual machine I got 95% is 1607. 1703 answer has very similar symptoms, cumulative update stuck etc, so duplicating there is just very probably correct idea until it downvoted or upvoted.

obviously in place install is incorrect solution compared to downloading a simple update! What I posted is 10 mins, inplace install may take hours

not necessarily that it worked

I waned to upvote one of the SM answers of good person to say thanks, but after reviewing dozen of them they all appear too complex to even understand. Harsh! Excuse me, good person, I tried. And ya all awesome visiting this chat and providing sometimes really desired hints to strangers!
Apr 25, 2023 18:07
It's same for me both on asking and answering, at least on random examples. Less than 1 sec to update. Browser is Firefox
I'd guess it's some markdown complication, try to divide question on two parts and to try them separately.
Apr 25, 2023 18:05
@geocalc33 Err, question. What exact question text you typing to try it too?
Apr 25, 2023 18:02
@geocalc33 could be something specific in answer markdown, something on your PC, or specific communication between server (firewall, etc). Post test answer example?
Apr 25, 2023 17:59
@geocalc33 Does immediately for me on short (and long too) answer, not after 5 sec
Apr 25, 2023 17:01
@leslietownes of course, misplaced 0 and 1. Thanks for details, will read/recall everything a bit more carefully. Oh finally, at least I have best guess for downvotes. But these details seem so unimportant when you just try to have simplest path to e number! Like simplest path to Pi is divide length to radius. You skip all the details and explanations during this introduction, you don't prove that L/R is constant. Seems so natural to have same path to E instead of Limit.
Apr 25, 2023 16:46
@leslietownes f(0+1) = f(0)f(1) seems means automatically pointless soultions or f(1) = 0
Apr 25, 2023 16:41
Looks like asking simple questions here is just alright? Is it correct that such function f(x+y)=f(x)∗f(y) is unique (continuous, real numbers only, etc)? Is there some incorrectness if you try to introduce e number via exp function, skipping all the limits, derivatives and series?
Apr 25, 2023 10:54
Hm, was this generally bad answer or bad path to e? math.stackexchange.com/a/4685552/1091751 Sometimes you indeed wish there was an option for anonymous comments so downvotes were less puzzling.
