Unless you happen to be able to read the language it was written in, you wouldn't be able to tell whether or not it answered the question - so it wouldn't fit the "not an answer" option. This is sort of splitting hairs really. I just think it was obvious that the answer should have been deleted, and that it's very petty to dispute my flag, when I reckon it would have been ultimately helpful in guiding a mod to the best action.
@Sathya ok, and sorry about the delayed reply. So a mod's action does not automatically reverse the opinions of +10k users, even when the same post is flagged. I can understand that. But surely voting VLQ was the best-fitting flag option in this case, specifically because the post fits the "severe formatting or content problems"?
Can a mod clarify why a flag I made was disputed, but the post was deleted anyway? The post wasn't in English, so I flagged it as "very low quality", which seemed to be the best fit. Thanks!
well, that's far more likely to be reason because, even for best case mentioned in the post, you would need an average write speed of about 21MB/s for about a year to wear out the drive
Jeff Atwood's recent SSD blog post doesn't describe SSD failures due to exhausting all flash p/e cycles, but due to the controller hardware or software failing.
@JourneymanGeek ah, good point actually, I didn't downvote the bad answer I mentioned before, because I was worried it might get deleted by the author - and all the useful details in the comments lost...
so... is no one actually going to make the changes I asked for ages ago? I really don't understand why not - it involves just a few simple find and replace changes. I designed the article that way, and it would be that way now if it wasn't for an unusual bug in WordPress.
@tombull89 thanks! I included the total cost of the NAS in USD as a sort of compromise. I really just wanted to show that it can be much cheaper (and fairly straightforward) to build a NAS rather than going for an off the shelf product.
@nhinkle well, obviously it's not hugely important, but I wanted the images to have tooltip text. If the images don't render, I think it's fine to display nothing, rather than the current alt text.
@KronoS could you or an SU blog super-admin change all the image alt attributes in the NAS post to be title attributes? Due to this bug, any title attributes get chucked out when I save my post... Thanks!
@IvoFlipse Thanks again for adding my NAS post while I was away from home. Unfortunately, I can't view it or edit it, so I just created a new draft using my account.
