@nhinkle Ok, thanks! I appreciate the feedback very much!
I will work on that, though I don't know how much time I'll have.
sure thing. no rush on our side - we've got posts for a while ready.
Ok, thank you so much!
...timeouts....ack!!

so @nhinkle are we making the changes that @sblair wants?
post goes live in 15 mins
@KronoS I don't see any reason to, and we can always fix it later. I think it's better the way it is. Let it post!

After reading a review of the Drobo FS, I became obsessed with network attached storage (NAS). I realised that a NAS device would neatly solve a couple of long-standing problems I hadn’t got around to fixing: data backup and data organisation.

This post will explain how I picked the hardware and software for my NAS.

The Drobo FS itself, while a compelling product, is expensive. There are also some worrying stories of problems with poor read/write speeds, noise, and the slightly ropey client software. But mainly, I feel it’s my duty to build my own computers. …

Love that Building a NAS server post. Also like the fact the prices are in £, but as SE are a US-based company would it be best to have it in $, or $/£. As a Brit I'm not complaining, but, still...

@nhinkle well, obviously it's not hugely important, but I wanted the images to have tooltip text. If the images don't render, I think it's fine to display nothing, rather than the current alt text.
@sblair you can make Wordpress give images a "caption"
for example, all except the header in the most recent Gaming blog post
I'm pretty sure the SU blog would support the same
@tombull89 thanks! I included the total cost of the NAS in USD as a sort of compromise. I really just wanted to show that it can be much cheaper (and fairly straightforward) to build a NAS rather than going for an off the shelf product.
@DMA57361 yeah I played around with that, but I didn't like the way it rendered for the SU blog.
@sblair f/e, as long as you're aware it is an option :)
plus, not all the images needed a caption
@sblair (I went fo building a file server a while back, although thinking about it a NAS would probably be better)
