ahh cool thanks!

add this diode
Jun 17, 2020 17:41
reading the datasheet the VREG_2V7 is a 2.7 V internal regulator output st.com/resource/en/datasheet/stusb4500.pdf and the typical application example in the datasheet doesn'
Jun 17, 2020 17:40
what is the purpose of the diode used in the VREG_2V7 pin in this schematic cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/9/2/6/8/6/…
Jun 15, 2020 17:16
I'm actually a software engineer but EE is pretty cool so i'm learning a lot
Jun 15, 2020 17:10
yeah I have been looking for a chip. I'll do some more research. USB type c PD is pretty cool and I can request 15v from charger. i will see If can find and easy to use chip for that. I'm designing my first PCB and it's already getting too crowded lol
Jun 15, 2020 16:59
how's something like this typically designed in modern electronics? current limiting + a switching regulator?
Jun 15, 2020 16:38
Page 13 in the data sheet i linked above "9.3.3 Precision Current-Limiter Circuit" basically this circuit attached to the second lm317 that regulates the voltage
Jun 15, 2020 16:33
The circuit using two LM317 uses the first one to limit the current and the second to fix the voltage right?
Jun 15, 2020 16:32
If I fix the voltage with LM317 to 14v what is the maximum current the battery can draw?
Jun 15, 2020 16:19
I guess the question should be what happens if I try to take more than 1.5A from LM317?
Jun 15, 2020 16:15
it's okay to charge it 1.5A even 2A but not more
Jun 15, 2020 16:15
my logic is that LM317 can't provide more than 1.5A anyway does it have a current limit protection?
Jun 15, 2020 16:14
both
Jun 15, 2020 16:05
basically use the schematic in the first page of the data sheet ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm317.pdf?ts=1592236938131
Jun 15, 2020 16:04
i want to charge a battery at 14v 1A. Can I use a single LM317 to regulate voltage from 19v without worrying about current limiting? I don't want the battery to draw more than 1.5A.
Jun 13, 2020 14:40
what does NOPB mean? there is LM2596SX-3.3 and LM2596SX-3.3/NOPB D
Jun 13, 2020 01:21
it communicates via UART
Jun 13, 2020 01:20
the lidar works with it but sends garbage data
Jun 13, 2020 01:19
5.1v i tested another D36V50F5 to make sure i don't have a faulty one
Jun 13, 2020 00:19
the only tool i have is a cheap multimeter
Jun 13, 2020 00:19
The power source is just a 12v battery connected to the D36V50F5 to step down the voltage to 5v. If I replace D36V50F5 with LM2596 it works.
Jun 12, 2020 23:20
I'm a noob in EE. is there a reason for this?
Jun 12, 2020 23:19
i have a lidar that seems very sensitive to the power source. When powered via the PC's usb it works great. It also works when powered via LM2596, but it doesn't seem to work with a "high-end" step-down regulator like the D36V50F5. pololu.com/product/4091

I have an IR range sensor that can do 60 Hz update rate. Does that mean that I can get 60 Reads per second ?
Mar 1, 2017 22:55
@NickAlexeev what keywords can I use to look this up?
Mar 1, 2017 22:50
The only reason I'm using 20Khz is to get rid of the annoying noise of the DC motors.
Mar 1, 2017 22:49
Why is it always that more powerful devices like Intel Edison and many others, have less GPIOs and PWM pins than regular MCUs. It is very handy for prototyping :(
Mar 1, 2017 22:46
Are you aware of any alternative to Intel edison that has good wifi connectivity with this amount of PWM pins ?
Mar 1, 2017 22:45
to drive six motors

If it is zero, then why it isn't Ω instead of O according to this i.imgur.com/XEp7Xn6.png
Oct 8, 2019 14:34
I'm not exactly sure what ratio of f(n)/g(n) would be when limit approaches infinity.
Oct 8, 2019 14:31
Can anyone explain how f(n) is O(g(n)) in this case i.imgur.com/sKGPlp5.png ?
Jul 25, 2019 04:44
oh because of ceil :)
Jul 25, 2019 04:42
but why would the possible values be 2,3,4,5. There could be 5.9 still less than 6
Jul 25, 2019 03:32
to get 1 < 2x+1 ≤ 5
Jul 25, 2019 03:32
definition of ceiling function is ⌈ x ⌉ = n - 1 < x ≤ n but I'm not sure how to apply it to 1 < ⌈ 2x+1⌉ < 6
Jul 25, 2019 03:24
ceiling function
Jul 25, 2019 03:23
Hello, any idea how 1 < ⌈ 2x+1⌉ < 6 is equivalent to 1 < 2x+1 ≤ 5 ?
Mar 4, 2017 20:43
No, i just lose points if did not include the unit of measurement so making sure it's just units
Mar 4, 2017 20:43
Ahh thats what i thought my math professor so bitchy about these things :(
Mar 4, 2017 20:42
yeah the general units. For instance "cubic units" "units" or what ever
Mar 4, 2017 20:42
Is it just the result for instance "10 units" and thats it?
Mar 4, 2017 20:41
What are the units of the arc length equation tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcII/ArcLength_files/… ?
