6:00 PM
I feel like the new room description is what it should've been years ago, pre-Valorum ban.

You didn't have Alex at the time. See, Alex, it's your fault.

My fault for not existing?

Yes. How dare you.

The blame has to go somewhere

Well, we did use to blame @SQB.
Nov 28 '18 at 13:47, by TheLethalCarrot
Blame @SQB is always the default though right? :P
So congrats, @Alex, you just got a promotion.

6:07 PM
@Alex I would argue against this. Puns should never have to be explained.

@Jenayah I was going to respond by blaming you for not existing when France lost wars, but I thought insulting France would be a distraction from insulting you.
@Jenayah Nice!

@Alex I think French people are used to it by now

@DCOPTimDowd So what's supposed to happen when the punner makes a pun in a language no one else understands?
@DCOPTimDowd Jenayah at least is, since I've done it several times in this room already.

@Alex We don't lose wars, we go on strike of doing it, that's very different.

@Jenayah And I quit my job two minutes before I got fired...

6:11 PM
@Alex The same thing that happens when you don't get a pun that someone makes in a language you do understand: make a weird face and feel bad that you're out of the loop

But perhaps there's a difference when no one in the audience can get it?

@Alex That's the risk of being edgy

In that case, let me make lots of foreign language puns.

@Alex you had a job? And they tell us employers read cover letters...
2

Well, doing it to be obnoxious is...well, obnoxious

6:14 PM
@Jenayah I may or may not have had a job, but that statement wasn't meant to reflect reality. It was a sarcastic response to your war excuse.

@Jenayah [citation needed]

@Alex you may or may not have had a job, but that statement wasn't meant to reflect reality. It was a sarcastic response to your sarcastic response.
@DCOPTimDowd I'm French?

@Jenayah Can we lower the level of metaness in here?

Never!

@Jenayah To an American, that doesn't help your case

6:18 PM
Wow, France is being insulted in two of my chats simultaneously.

SQB
@Mithrandir yes!

@Alex We're good at making friends.

@Alex Asking for sources isn't insulting
Credible sources

@DCOPTimDowd True, but the context of the conversation is (albeit in a lighthearted manner).

@DCOPTimDowd eeeehh... I'd fire a "wait, Americans get a say in cases now?" but as we haven't chatted for long and you don't necessarily know me, I wouldn't want you to miss the irony ahah :D
So, I guess I just won't, albeit I just did. :P

6:21 PM
@Alex I dunno. I think coming from an American, I'm being pretty mild towards a Frenchy.
"Please be nice", right?

@DCOPTimDowd Well, they're very sensitive.

@Jenayah Americans get a say in everything. That's kinda how we do things.

@DCOPTimDowd by the way, probably silly to ask since from what I know, only US people describe themselves as Americans, but you're from the US then, I guess?*

@Jenayah Loud and proud.
Except when in person.

6:23 PM
Then I'm quiet and dismissive.

^ partly NSFW...
@Alex we are?

@Jenayah obligatory American stereotype

You're telling me Team America: World Police is NOT an accurate depiction of the US? Like, it may be a parody or something? I'm shocked.

Apr 30 at 16:23, by Jenayah
@Randal'Thor hey, that's not true!

@Jenayah I didn't say it was an inaccurate stereotype, but a stereotype nonetheless
Believe it or not, I've never seen that movie
But the song sums us up pretty well

6:26 PM
you haven't? Watch it, it's awesome :D

@Jenayah Let me borrow it

Well, I guess one enjoys it much more when they're used to be snarky about the US to begin with...

@Jenayah That's probably true

I mean, it's probably in the top 5 of stupidest movies I've seen, and I've seen The Villain. But still, overall it's a good laugh

I've heard good things
Do you not generally enjoy stupid movies?

6:29 PM
It depends of the kind of stupid I guess.
And the amount of available neurons I have upon watching it.

What "kinds" of stupid do you like?
The less neurons, the better

Q: What's something technological or scientific that has NOT been done in Star Wars?

MaxI'm sure this question will be put on hold because it is very broad, but I don't know where else to turn. I'm trying to write a Star Wars fan fic about a scientist researching something during the time of the canon New Republic. I have searched many different ideas and almost all of them are on W...

Q: Samwell Tarlys status after S08E04 and punishment

starseeker29In the episode: From my understanding he is still part of the Night's Watch and cannot father any children, this being a really big treason to the oath he took when he joined the Night's watch, especially since from my understanding it can happen to "sleep around", but this feels like a way bi...

@DCOPTimDowd out of the stuff I've recently thought about, TAWP, Rooster Teeth shows, and the kind of mess Zoo season 3 was, for instance... So basically, it's more about the number of neurons ;)

@Jenayah It's interesting. I've known people from Colombia and Venezuela who bristle at people from the U.S. describing themselves as "Americans," but nevertheless only ever describe themselves as "Colombian" or "Venezuelan." And of course Mexicans (from "Estados Unidos Mexicanos") always refer to yanquis as "Americanos."

Eh. Though the sixth season of The 100 is out and the first episode had some of these epic science moments as well...
> It's radiation, it won't affect me.
Clarke, honey, I know you want to save your friend, but on top of radiation, there's also a dozen of electric arcs, you noticed?
Oh, your radiation immunity turns out to bring an optional immunity to electricity, I guess.
That's handy. Congrats, you hit the jackpot on this one. Too bad your friend died, though.
Well, mild spoilers, but I didn't name anyone, did I?
Except for "main character", but those are protected by plot armor anyway.

6:40 PM
@Jenayah Haven't seen that either. I'm not really into superhero shows.
Have you seen DBZA?

It's not superhero, it's sci-fi. Or rather it's supposed to be sci-fi, but the science works in ways so far from ours, and there are weird animals, and they're not even on Earth anymore, it might turn into a fantasy show.

@Jenayah Close enough

@DCOPTimDowd not really into anime and what's done around it, hence nope

It seems the only thing we have in common is the overall opinion for each other's country of origin

@DavidW well if they start calling themselves American, isn't that a bit ironic/hypocrite?
@DCOPTimDowd If you don't like British food, then we'll have that in common and will be able to poke fun at the local Brits around here :P

6:46 PM
Is there an example of a specific British food that is bad?

@Alex All of it
Even American food cooked in Britain is awful
Did you know they didn't even have salt and pepper until the 1960's?

Pudding, marmite...

I can make tags on Meta now, that’s cool

Pudding, amirite?

Nice one.

6:51 PM
Pudding is terrible irrespective of its origin, though.

...
*shuns*

@NapoleonWilson Clearly you've never had Southern pudding

Q: Is it possible to speak wookie?

Z-manso I was wondering if the website https://wookietranslator.com has any logic behind it or if it's just a guy smashing his face against a keyboard.

By the way, @Mithrandir, did you get a reply from the DBA?

@Marvin No, it's somebody else smashing some guy's face into a keyboard.
@Jenayah Unfortunately not.

@Jenayah I think they want to use the term when expressing community/solidarity with people not of their country but also from their region.
So someone from Colombia can speak with someone from Costa Rica and Cuba, and they're all "Americans."

@DavidW Not yet.

But I'm guessing a bit there; I've never been party to that conversation (no hablo Español).

I got Outspoken

@Mithrandir too bad :/ well, maybe later.

7:08 PM
@DCOPTimDowd I want a "looks at with tilted head" emoji.

@Stormblessed the disappearing chat message from three days ago

@DavidW Isn't that :/ ?

@DavidW who needs an emoji, puppies are better.
@Stormblessed congrats!

Q: Cartoon about a monkey-like green curly hair boy

Miguel PalauI remember from my childhood watching some kind of educational euro-style animation about a boy named PocoPoco (something like that, it was Spanish-dubbed) who had curly green hair that was moving all the time, his skin was all white (as in #FFFFFF) and had a monkey tail. He looked a bit like a ...

Q: How is it believable that Euron could so easily pull off this ambush?

avmohanDaenerys has Varys on her side who is some kind of master spy. She also has Bran who can scout for her easily. > Harry: all that is new to me. I just learned I'm a wizard, and then I learned I'm rich. I've been told the wand chooses its owner. Is that true?

Ollivander: *tucks a discount wand in* absolutely, Mr Potter, absolutely...

Yeah, the wand choosing the wizard thing is not really true.
I mean, come on, you believe that there’s a wand that would have chosen Ron?

Maybe the wand lost a bet?

Sentenced to community service, more like.
There are actually six people on the network who care about the app.

How many of those are your sockpuppets?

Q: Can all scions make “the choice” or is it just Changelings?

anonIt’s said that Changelings are apparently just a specific type/subgroup of Scions, which raises the question: Since changelings can decide to “choose” one side or the other of their heritage (or remain neutral), is there any information/evidence on whether this is in general a capability of all ...

Q: how many fights on titan did doctor strange see out of the 14,000,605

Z-manI was wondering how many of the direct fights against thanos on titan turned out negatively?

@Marvin Oh, he says it in a deleted scene on the Special Extended Director's Cut, it's 2,004,067 of them.

@Jenayah I couldn't resist. It's your fault; if I'd done it here I would just have been copying you. :)

It's Napoleon's fault.

At least it’s not my fault.

@NapoleonWilson Is it just me, or is the claim that he managed somehow to accurately count to 14 000 065 one of the least believable aspects of this? I mean, the junk science in superhero movies is absolutely over the top but you kind of roll with it. But someone performing a non-instantaneous task, where he must actually pay attention to what's going on, and still keeping track of counting instances as he passes 10^7?

@Alex stop that. It can't always be your fault. You have to learn to share with other people - seriously, that's childish, how old are you, 7?
@DavidW he's the Sorcerer Supreme, he must have a sparky counter thingy going.

He wasn't even trying to take the blame for himself, you're doing him injustice.

But great minds think alike, I wondered that as well.
@NapoleonWilson now don't you start encouraging this kind of behaviour.

For a definition of "great".

9:19 PM

Therefore, Alex is seven and a half years old, and thus underage for SE.

I have seen all episodes of Game of Thrones, from the very first one to the one of this week. But I guess I am going to stop now. It simply became too bad.

@Loong from what I hear, there are only three left. C'mon, you made it this far.
No loser you are.
One more time, one more try!

I hear they finally invented coffee, though.

@Mithrandir they made it this far without coffee?

@Loong That just makes no sense. It's literally only 2 episodes remaining. Stopping now would just be ridiculous.

So last chance to make the statement that I don't accept everything. ;-)

To make a point to...noone then?

Just for me then.

I'd posit if you're genuinely willing to do that, you never had much interest in the series to begin with, though.
