Hello dear people of Charcoal. We have been impressed by your efforts and have come up with some of our own.
Basically the CRUDE chat exists as a place where people can "fight the crap", among other goals. We would like to improve the effectiveness of handling this.
Basically we would like a bot to survey our room for chat messages that contain a number of links of posts to be closed or deleted, and then keep track of whether the targets have been taken care of.
Is this a matter you could support us in, or provide directions, approaches, etc.?

The easiest way would be to subscribe the room to reports that Smokey already makes.

except that Smokey searches for red-flaggable posts

@Lord_Farin I think your room is similar to SOCVR by the sounds of things?

Yes, but we also want to clean the site of "benign crap", so to speak. Plainly bad questions, which received answers so will not be removed automagically.

You aren't looking for spam or abusive stuff, instead closable questions?

6:08 PM
@CalvT I think so, yes.
Yes, we've got some heuristic queries to find the posts ourselves.
Judgement is manual, though. It's just that it gets tiresome to keep checking of deletion candidates have indeed been deleted.
In that sense it's simpler than Smokey.

that's how it's done everywhere where there are bots... :P

Not sure to what extent Smokey supports heuristics that don't get reported here, but if he doesn't, a fork should do.

in CRUDE, 47 mins ago, by RRL
For deletion: D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6, D7, D8

Smokey is the wrong bot to be looking at really

We have posts like the above, and we would like to know when D1-D8 have been taken care of.

6:10 PM
also, yeah, I've noticed that people aren't using a consistent format, but two

Let me get the name of what SOCVR use to do exactly what you want

Yeah I know it's different, was just curious if you could give us any directions.

Ah, Smokey can't help with that.

actually, you might have better luck with SOBotics... :P (note: you might not have luck either)

I actually think it's a userscript…?

6:11 PM
@Erik Right, but there is consensus that we can standardise if it helps automation.

Autoflag Information and More is a userscript that does that for Smokey's reports, but I doubt it can be adapted.

@CalvT you mean the URRS?

@EriktheOutgolfer The one that cleans up requests

Ah, that one might be helpful - and adaptable.

Lets see if @rene is around

6:14 PM
hm, that's the CVRA

Yep that's right
It's a userscript that when run looks at requests to see if they are still around, and if they are not, moves them to a different room

although... the A part is probably irrelevant to CRUDE, they don't seem to archive old requests

@EriktheOutgolfer they want to delete them instead

but there is a handy check inside

But I guess archiving would work?

6:16 PM
archiving is actually better
although I can't see one deleted message over there... just joined

@CalvT @EriktheOutgolfer Archiving would definitely be good enough.

and it also keeps a record for non-ROs
and... it also has a transcript :P

You can't actually delete chat messages older than 2 minutes, you can merely archive them in the community garbage bin.

*2.5 minutes
(and mods can delete them after that too)
