I've heard a few stories of people who get screwed over by shitty landlords and it always frustrated me when they refuse to do nothing about it since they don't think it's worth the trouble or that'll turn out in their favour. Did you consider that he did crimes but then the deep state was jealous over how good he was at doing crimes so they made him do more crimes?

And/or the holdout refused to accept he could be faulted for being a foreign agent more than once or something dumb which would explain the definiteness of them not reaching a verdict
