! Huge Michigan news today: A ballot initiative that contains a package of big voting-rights reforms (automatic registration, same-day registration, no-excuse absentee, & more) was certified for the November ballot.
One of the fall's most important campaigns for voting rights. https://twitter.com/Promote_VoteMI/status/1037709595685343233

Super small story but a great example of knowing your rights and acting on them
I've heard a few stories of people who get screwed over by shitty landlords and it always frustrated me when they refuse to do nothing about it since they don't think it's worth the trouble or that'll turn out in their favour. The tenancy board isn't perfect, but they are there to help you, and a phone call is free.
TRUMP, UNHINGED: "But Ronny Jackson is a doctor, he is actually the doctor that gave me my physical. And he said that I am in great shape. And the Democrats, liberals, deep state, they were very upset to hear that. So they got tougher & tougher and they write more books now." https://t.co/P7mvQZzXfQ
> Betsy Harden, a spokeswoman for Whole Foods, said the company believes its wages and benefits are competitive with the rest of the market. She also pushed back on the need for a labor union.
She's probably completely right, the wages are competitive with the rest of the market, but the wages are also lower than they should be.

They're talking about Kavanaugh right now saying the Democrats are pushing him on his politics because they expect court nominees to act in a partisan fashion 🤔
Oh man, if they didn't expect court nominees to act in a partisan fashion, I wonder why they stalled for a year and half so they could get Trump to nominate Gorsuch.

@GodEmperorDune I love how this is the thing that's being memed about in the subreddit now instead of the actual problematic shitshow that was publicized days/weeks before.
Yes, clearly the thing that strikes a chord is an event that bans straight white males from attendance.
That's the real discriminatory problem in Silicon Valley.
It's the dude who went to the women only showing of wonder woman except even dumber because there is objectively a value in creating an industry space for non-men
Professional LoL is arguably more popular than OWL or even DOTA 2. But it's so mismanaged that their top sponsors are State Farm and Jersey Mike's. Their best sponsor has less money than the smallest sponsor in OWL.
Hopefully, the fact that they're doing a terrible job on the finances means that Tencent might clear out management.
Speaking of gamer/bro culture, there were some stories awhile back of professional players being assaulted after games because Riot insists on a handshake line where the winning team passes in front of the front-row fans (they have since made this handshake line optional). tl;dr one of the players apparently had his nipples twisted by a spectator in one of these lines.
@GodEmperorDune Oh, don't even get me started on how mistreatment of a transgender professional player is somehow a controversial/hot-button issue that has sides.
Incidentally, @Unionhawk, if Monte is still a big-time OWL name, reminders that I still hate him.
the tl;dr is that a professional team owned by Monte was managed by a guy who coerced a transgender player into playing for the team in return for him paying for a gender-change operation.
You can look up the story of Remilia on Google or something if you really want to break a punching bag at the end of the day.
In this case, Riot actually did the good thing of removing Monte's ownership and essentially banning him from having a management position in any professional team.
But the community, of course, thinks this was a controversial move.
You still have a minority of Monte fans on the subreddit.
He claims that he was completely unaware of what happened and that Riot punished him for something not his fault, but you do not own a team and not know that this was happening.
Either you are complicit or monumentally incompetent.
Either one means you should never manage a team in the future.
Aren't the teams only made up of 4 or 5 people? I don't see how anything could happen on such a small team without everyone on the team knowing, let alone something like that
@Wipqozn Sometimes, I want to portion some of the blame to Remilia's fellow players, but I remember that the power dynamic between players and management is incredibly skewed even right now (unless you're a big name pro like Bjergsen or Doublelift) let alone several years ago.
"Like India, like China, like others, they say, 'we're growing.' I want to be in that category," says @POTUS. "They call themselves developing nations. I want to be a developing nation, too."
@GodEmperorDune Among the myriad fuct things in that situation was that Riot actually did the right thing, imo, and the community backlash was dumb as f--k.
Like, they actually did something that went against their shit work culture, which is good, and it blew up in their faces.
@GodEmperorDune this seems really weird because last I looked Riot Games was actually doing a lot of work (and active research) in how to make their playerbase specifically and MOBAs and online games more general less toxic
So I kind of expected them to be not completely shit on this topic
He was in charge of a lot of the community management and worked a lot with toxicity.
He used to write a lot on managing and minimizing player toxicity.
He may have been somewhat heavy-handed. He used to comment on posts where people whined about being banned and post chat logs to show exactly why they got banned.

Former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos will spend 14 days in prison, pay a $9500 fine, and perform community service, a federal judge ordered Friday afternoon.
@GodEmperorDune You'll be happy to know this hasn't impacted his interview with Tapper then
I think it was pretty much only the false statements charge though so it's light but also not surprising
