7:01 PM
I'm learning to program in Fugue atm
And this is my keyboard
It's great being both a musician and a programmer

You're gonna need a bigger board :P

Bas
Fugue doesn't have so much instructions :p
Plus it's all midi, I can shift octaves by the simple push of a button

And can a submission produce extra output?

Still not much space for code though, for anything mildly complex

Bas
@Sp3000 I don't know, Fugue doesn't seem too complex

7:03 PM
@Bas I can't quite make it out from the picture. Novation?

Bas
@TimmyD Ableton push 2
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ What do you mean?

Like output after the requested output in the challenge.
Like if the correct output is 0 and it prints 0 and then 2.7.

Bas
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Well, I can record any key I press, add some instruments and have myself a lovely beat running through my code :P

how do you score fugue?

@Bas Try writing your own quine then report back :P

7:05 PM
length of song?

Bas
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'm not doing this for a specific challenge lol

no not for you
for my code.. :P

Bas
Ooohhhhhh

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Use Prelude instead

Bas
@Sp3000 Am on it

7:06 PM
hmph
well using extra output, let me know if I can't do that.

@Dennis can you pull cinnamon gum?

@quartata Pulled.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I thought we had a meta post on that, but I can't seem to find it

VTCAKAVSMoACEOn a recent question, the following was brought up by @Sp3000: In fact, I'm almost starting to wonder what a "function" is, since it seems like every language with goto could define a "function" the same way... Doorknob it is, then.

@Sp3000 I'd say @Downgoat's answer is a good consensus (+6/-0)

@Dennis Thanks
Dammit still doesn't work.
How hard is it to just escape a damn caret
relevant I suppose: xkcd.com/1638

Bas
@quartata Depends on how fast it runs

Also depends on whether it's a damn caret or a regular one

@Dennis i decrypted the evolution of the back&forth series recursively but dont think it helps in term of golfing standards :|

don't reply to completely different messages please.
with that, you just ping.
@Sp3000 fixed, is now a true function.

@Agawa001 I tried too. If there is a golfy way, I can't seem to find it.

I might join if I can finish the work I have to do before then.

@mınxomaτ Duration of class?

I'm super procrastinating.
Yes

Ping Helka in that room's chat and he'll whitelist you

@HelkaHomba Technically making a PPCG server was my idea though... ;D

Bas
My younger brother once bought me a Minecraft account, as birthday present. He named it CerealGrapeist.....

@Doorknob Yeah, those are annoying. There are a couple websites where my username is "elendia" because "elendiastarman" is too long. Which is just silly.

@Mego No, that kinda ruins my joke

But yeah ararslan is a silly name. It'd be even worse if some child got named that.

Granted, the joke isn't really appropriate for chat.

Bas
@Mego Better than calling your daughter Porsche or Mercedes tbh
@AlexA. Glad you didn't delete it then xoxo

My best friend many, many years ago was named Mercedes.

Bas
@AlexA. You make it really hard for me not to make inappropriate jokes you know

not as the whole name though

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Must be uncomfortable.

@Bas Oh but he could make it very easy. Not many clicks to chatban someone :P

@mınxomaτ idk

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Good childhood friends had the last name "Sexton".

@El'endiaStarman yeah, sexton

7:51 PM
@El'endiaStarman A coworker of mine has that last name

I don't use my middle name because my first name is much harder to pronounce and I like to see people struggle.

I do use my middle name because I don't like my first name. :P

@mınxomaτ I still don't know if it's minx-o-mat or min-x-o-mat...

@Geobits I "say" it the former way.

@Geobits I always thought minx-o-mat

All I know about the greek is that there was some god who had a very pissed off wife

7:53 PM
Uh... Athena?

because he cheated on her with like everybody

Bas
Athena had a wife?

Zeus/Hera, almost certainly.

No, was Athena the wife
is what I meant

7:53 PM
@AlexA. ... no
@Bas ... no

Athena was never married.

Okay

Yea, Hera had plenty of reason to be pissed.

Much too proud and self-sufficient for that anyway.

I've never studied that stuff, I just know a few names.

7:54 PM
Then again... if you were a god, it'd be awful tempting...

@El'endiaStarman Ares was always busy playing with swords and stuff though.

7:56 PM
move to trash

Why?
I moved all of the unnecessary carets

@Geobits Well. See, in Germany the "megaminx" is a Rubik's cube flavour. So my first ever online handle was "minx" because I thought at the time the it was a cool wordoid. Then I learned what "minx" means in *English". This is when I changed to minxomat by just appening "o-mat" (German for "o-Matic").

Bas
@AlexA. You escaped the carets! Wooh

I imagine Hephaestus was too busy making those swords for Ares.

Caret blocks/chains are the epitome of trash (prepares for inevitable carets)

17 hours is plenty of time to get enough chat traffic and a spec. And a solution.

@quartata That's what I knew it from. I was like "A minx is a little fox, right?", then I googled. Apparently, the slang/real meaning is different. :P

The animal is mink... plural minks. Not minx.

7:59 PM
wordoid is cool wordoid

Minks are also not foxes, but they are little furry creatures. :P

8:01 PM
@mınxomaτ 10/10
@mınxomaτ ... definitely

@Geobits I honestly did not know/realize that the animal was "mink", not "minx".

@mınxomaτ So your name means: Automatic Minx????
Or Minx-maker

Or automatic mink skinner

It's not much for anagrams either. Maybe Tax In Mom?

@El'endiaStarman I do not think so, but I'm struggling to find the right translation^^
According to wikipedia possums only live in australia?

Try "opossum" as well.

Possums Australians are cute enough until you mess with them.

@El'endiaStarman Those are (apparently) quite different things.
But I do not think any of them live here=)

8:06 PM
@mınxomaτ rofl
@mınxomaτ @Quill are you or australians in general cute until provoked?

@flawr Opossums are usually just called possums informally.

@Geobits In the german WP opossums and possums are quite distinct species.

Here's something cute from Australia. The almost invisible "wrap-around" spider. Sleep well.

@flawr I know. They are different species. I'm just saying nobody here calls them opossums unless they're specifically trying to show the difference.

@mınxomaτ And I bet the thing it wraps around is not a stick but some deadly animal thing.
@Geobits Confusing stuff=)
Anyway, we do not have them here

8:09 PM
Everything in Australia is a deadly animal thing.

Well, a while ago, I saw something about how there was a conversation between an American and an Australian about [o]possums, and they were confused since it seemed like they were talking about different animals. Eventually they sent pictures to the other, and understood why.
Cute in Australia, terrifying in America. :P

> In our green, sustainable, cybernetic future, when we access the internet through neural implants powered by propeller hats, we shall no longer wear gold rings. We'll need the gold for all the microchips, especially once the nanobot injections take off. Instead, our fingers will be clad in trained, jewel encrusted Wrap-around Spiders.
wtf

@El'endiaStarman Drunk in the UK

> jewel encrusted Wrap-around Spiders.

But we do have european minks

8:10 PM
Why can't people show pictures of kinkajous and koalas instead of terrifying spiders and poisonous plants from Australia

@quartata Those things only exist in zoos to placate the rest of the world. If they knew the truth, they'd wipe Australia out.

And stoats:

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ No way, I like cute and cool stuff, like pink lasers

@El'endiaStarman I've had squirrels come right up to me pretty often. Especially the ones that live near restaurants :P

@El'endiaStarman Well, this specific invasive kind of squirrel is completely mental. They are so aggressive that they have to be hunted. You can buy certain squirrel meat products in the UK.

@El'endiaStarman I've had a ton of chipmunks in the us trying to steal my food.

@mınxomaτ Sounds like the crows in New York. There's no kill limit on hunting those.

8:13 PM
PS: And in certain parts of france, there are water deers.
Yes, with fangs.

Sciurus carolinensis, common name eastern gray squirrel or grey squirrel depending on region, is a tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus. It is native to eastern North America, but has since been introduced to European regions. == Distribution == Sciurus carolinensis is native to the eastern and midwestern United States, and to the southerly portions of the eastern provinces of Canada. The native range of the eastern gray squirrel overlaps with that of the fox squirrel (Sciurus niger), with which it is sometimes confused, although the core of the fox squirrel's range is slightly more to the west....

Bas
@flawr Do they float?

@Bas Probably?

@flawr And in certain parts of the US, there are water beers.

@mınxomaτ Yep, those are the ones I meant too :)

8:14 PM
@TimmyD Haha, but there are also a lot of great beers=)

@Geobits Not as bad a Asian carp though.

I actually like the squirrels for the most part. They like to pose for pictures:

They're also great entertainment if you've got contraptions/obstacles setup for them to get to food.

@Geobits A very hostile facial expression.

8:18 PM
@mınxomaτ asian carp are evil, and taste bad too. :/

@mınxomaτ He probably thought I wanted his food. I'd be hostile too :P

Why are we posting pictures of various mammals

Here's another fairly hostile expression I've gotten with my camera:

That makes it a lot more clear.

Freshman year of college, I introduced a friend (with his permission) as Jewish to everyone new we met. This was at an all-men Catholic university. I think he was eventually even invited by one of the Theology professors to seder, since he was from out-of-state and thus didn't have anywhere else to attend, despite the fact that he regularly and routinely participated in Mass. :D

I'm hardcore into math education. The only right thing to believe in.

We had a partnership with an all-woman college that was ~2 miles away. Pretty much the only thing that was all-men or all-women were the dorms. Classes, intramurals, cafeterias, etc., all mixed.

Ah, okay

@TimmyD so... pseudo-(all-men)

> all-pseudo-men

The schools grew out of a nunnery and a monkery, so that's why there was the distinction.

8:59 PM
Oh, I see. XD

What could possibly have lead to that partnership? :D
