@TimmyD Lexicographically?

A religious order is a lineage of communities and organizations of people who live in some way set apart from society in accordance with their specific religious devotion, usually characterized by the principles of its founder's religious practice. The order is composed of initiates (laity) and, in some traditions, ordained clergy. Religious orders exist in many of the world's religions. == Buddhist tradition == In Buddhist societies, a religious order is one of the number of monastic orders of monks and nuns, many of which follow under a different school of teaching, such as Zen. Is it just me or were a lot of people on PPCG (or at least in chat) raised with very strong Christian beliefs?

Not me.

Donald Duckism then?
(no offense meant...just in case...blah blah blah)

2/10

@HelkaHomba I was raised Christian but realized I didn't believe it when I was pretty young.
By late middle school or early high school I had "come out" to my parents as an atheist and they were a bit upset. (My mom is pretty Christian but my dad seems to give few if any shits about religion.)

@AlexA. Same here.

9:08 PM
Same for me as well.
Although I don't remember much about to what extent my mom tried to get me to be Christian when I was very young.

I was forced to attend Sunday school and/or church service

I was as well, a long time ago (from my perspective :P)

Haha

My dad's family is Jewish, but he's Jew... ish.
2

I'm sort of the inverse. I went to Church but vehemently denied Christianity and it's teachings. Then I became a Christian
@Doorknob XD

9:10 PM
@AlexA. Same for me too, except it took longer for me to realize (mid-teens).

For me it's more Agnosticism than Atheism. I basically don't care about anyone's beliefs as long as they don't do stupid sh*t (like hurt people or exploit children).

@HelkaHomba I was and currently am.
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ :D Same.

I was about to ping Alex. :P

@AlexA. dog for you.

9:22 PM
@HelkaHomba Was raised with and still have strong Christian beliefs, though they've....changed. I think I don't fit anyone's stereotype of "Christian".

> One day, Tuco (yes, he was name after that cray cray Mexican drug lord in Breaking Bad) will be a poop-ya-pants scary police dog, but back when this picture was taken he was just an insanely cute 9-week-old puppy called Batman, who was waaaay too small for his police vest.

@El'endiaStarman Most Christian stereotypes are bad.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Yeah, but I mean even those stereotypes that Christians have.

okai
Are you a young-earth believer?

9:23 PM
Was, not anymore.

The hell's a young Earth believer

@El'endiaStarman You assume I was stereotyping >_> (yeah, I probably was)

@El'endiaStarman So... what does that mean? Do you prescribe to Christian Tenants? Or no
@AlexA. what does this even mean ._.

@AlexA. That's a pun.

@AlexA. I would've said "Young Earth Creationist". The earth was made about 6,000 years ago, yada yada...

9:25 PM
*6k to 10k

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ "What the hell is a 'young Earth believer'?"

@AlexA. I certainly was not expecting that on the side

@AlexA. Oh, I see. :P there was no question mark, so I thought it was an Alex joke

@El'endiaStarman Huh, not familiar with that theory...

o_O it's the most popular Christian foundation theory

9:26 PM
Oh

iirc
The date of the world is had at by tracing lineages in the Bible

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I had to google to figure this out, but it's "tenets", not "tenants". Anyway, yes and no. In broad strokes, I believe much the same things. In details, however, I often believe differently, and I often have a different reason for the belief.

@Zizouz212 The side of what?

@AlexA. Sidebar :)
Oh, and I know absolutely nothing about christianity if that's what you folks are talking about

@El'endiaStarman whoops, meant tenets :P So, not a "stick-to-the-Bible" type of person?

9:28 PM
I don't either anymore. It's all been freed from main memory and purged from disk. :P

@AlexA. It's part of Biblical literalism, where the first 11 chapters of Genesis (from creation to the Tower of Babel, including the Flood) are treated as literal history.

To be, I'm seeing really fancy terms :P

@Zizouz212 It's just Christian Jargon :P

@El'endiaStarman Literal history as opposed to symbolism? (Or a series of poor translations over thousands of years? :P)

lol I'm not christian so...

9:29 PM
@AlexA. Symbolism.

did you scroll down

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ o_O

@AlexA. Jewish scribes were actually extremely meticulous in making new copies of scriptures with zero errors. If a single error was spotted, the manuscript was burned. On the Christian side, a lot of effort has been put into translating the message accurately, keeping in mind the culture of the times. It helps, also, that we have a ton of early manuscripts for the New Testament, so the text we have now is very close to the original.

9:31 PM

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Well, I consider the Bible to be the greatest book ever written (well, compiled), and that it's chock-full of truth. I, however, don't believe it is inerrant nor 100% historical/literal. As an example, I believe Adam and Eve existed in the sense of being the first humans to have full souls, which set them apart from fellow Homo Sapiens, all of whom evolved.

One of the higher rep users on SO has a thing on their profile "If I edited your question, it was probably about one of these grammar points" and then has a bunch of ELU question links

For that Kronecker product question, using J, I guess that using */ would count as performing an outer product, but I could also just do *"0 _, using ranks, that means to multiply each atom on the LHS with the entire value on the RHS. It still feels too similar to using a builtin for outer product, to me.

@miles what do they define an outer product to be?

@miles Sounds like a reimplementation of an outer product, which sounds fine to me.
