@xnor You seem to have a marked lack of hats on you.

i haven't found a good fit yet

The nose and eyes could be rotated to look nice on your... spaceship? circuit?

Looks like an xnor gate. OHHHHHHH...
7

Can't believe I've never noticed that >.>

12:12 AM
Wait, really?

Come on guys, I noticed that and I set up my account on here yesterday

@AlexA. Really, I've never noticed that or really, that's a picture of an xnor gate? Both are true :P

The former
@xnor Your chat account is assocated with Arqade, not PPCG. ಠ_ಠ

@AlexA. I probably never chose something on the dropdown and it's the first alphabetically
lemme see if i can change it

You can change it on your chat profile

12:15 AM
that was easy

Yes :)
Nice, it's past midnight UTC, I can get rep again.

Me too!

I has moar hats than Golfmastah, wow.

I'm still in first place for hats here, although not by as wide of a margin anymore.
(this will change once I get my gold code-golf >:D)

anyone familiar with Xcode?

12:20 AM
I lost the game

@feersum I believe Alex and I are

^ what does this mean in Xcode?

@feersum It's an executable file
That's the Mac icon for executables
(or files it thinks are executables)

OK, thanks

No problem.
I thought you were a Windows user. Finally seen the light? :D

12:26 AM
Lesser of two evils...

I'm porting some code to Mac.

@Doorknob冰 ಠ_ಠ

Not seeing much light so far.

Q: How difficult would it be to get KOTH entries with a Scala controller?

J AtkinI am currently working on http://meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/7720/42736 as a KOTH challenge. As it happens, Lichess has an open source chess engine that would vastly simplify the amount of work I would have to do to write the controller, with the added advantage of me using the language I a...

The built-in wireless on this Macbook broke after rebooting, and then I tried 2 USB wireless things and couldn't get either to work.

12:28 AM
I've... never seen that happen. O_O

I finally gave up and used an ethernet cable.

What year and OS?

2011 I think
The latest El Captian or whatever.

Ah, okay. I have no experience with El Capitan.

I haven't heard very good things about El Capitan, unfortunately. I've held off on that upgrade.

12:33 AM
Oh really? I haven't heard much about it. I waited a long time to upgrade to Yosemite; I'll probably wait a while to upgrade to El Capitan as well.

Yosemite didn't have this many complaints at release, if I remember correctly. Just give it a couple months and I'm sure it'll get ironed out :D

It usually does. :) I upgraded to Yosemite when it was at patch 5 so it was pretty stable when I got it.

That's the most youtube-esque comment I've ever come across.
3

Most of the complaints I heard about Yosemite when it came out were asthetic.

When did Apple change from big cats to mountains?

12:42 AM
At OS X 10.9, Mavericks

Before/after OS names?

Is Mavericks a cat or a mountain?

It's a place in California

I'm guessing it's a mountain.

Neither?

12:43 AM
A beach IIRC

huh
So, big cat -> beach -> mountain.

Mavericks is a surfing location in Northern California about 2 miles (3 km) from shore outside Pillar Point Harbor, just north of the town of Half Moon Bay at the village of Princeton-by-the-Sea. After a strong winter storm in the northern Pacific Ocean, waves can routinely crest at over 25 feet (8 m) and top out at over 80 feet (24 m). The break is caused by an unusually shaped underwater rock formation. Mavericks is a winter destination for some of the world's best big wave surfers. Very few riders become big wave surfers, and of those, only a select few are willing to risk the hazardous, sometimes...

Ah, they all have a "danger" theme.

Hahaha
What's dangerous about Yosemite?

Well, it's a wilderness...

Alright

> On June 10, 2013, at its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced that the latest version of its Mac operating system OS X (version 10.9) would be entitled Mavericks. Apple said their new operating software generations would be named after places in California that have inspired them.
So really, it's big cats -> California.

Oh god, it's winter bash.

1:01 AM
YUP.

@El'endiaStarman Yes
@Calvin'sHobbies Quick, get a hat

Wheres the list of them?

@NewMainPosts This is hilarious

Additionally we've discovered a couple of secret hats.
I'm wearing one of them right now

1:04 AM

Mine is not secret

@Doorknob冰 yass

But it is a hat

> Apparently I am the first person to get this Onion Knight hat thing. Does that make me cool mummy

My favorite is still Timey-Wimey.
Don't blink.

I am slowly obtaining that hat :P

@quartata Likewise.
Answer on Christianity.SE:
> I like cheese i like cheese I like cheese

1:09 AM
@El'endiaStarman Link or it didn't happen.

@El'endiaStarman wat?

@El'endiaStarman Leviticus 3:22

hahahaha

lolz
Anyway, @FlaggedAsSpam.

1:11 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies I'm embarrassed to say I biblegatewayed that.

> Ok thanks rgwergwergergergewgrewggggger gwerg
an answer to a KOTH here

@El'endiaStarman nue it was deleted

@RikerW I did too, actually. :P

@El'endiaStarman rofl

Haven't read Leviticus yet, and I was prepared to be impressed. :P
@quartata .....did you expect it to not be deleted?

1:12 AM
@NewMainPosts Nice Question in 25 views; that's got to be some kind of record

@Doorknob冰 Are views not cached?

@Doorknob冰 If you get Onion Knight for that let us know

Oh, they are. It says 28 now. Still :P

@RikerW What is biblegatewayed?

1:13 AM
@Doorknob冰 I'd take that wager ;) (If we could test that sort of thing)
Doornob has a snowflake..

@AlexA. link

Ninja'ed.

Not totally.
I linked to Lev 3:22. :P

Can @AlexA. or anothe PPCG mod alter @El'endiaStarman's post pls?

1:14 AM
"his" being whom?

Holy shit I just saw gnibbler comment on a deleted post 7 hours ago

@AlexA. Bible Gateway is a site where you can lookup specific bible passages.

@RikerW I am a mod... :P

in The Twentieth Byte, 5 hours ago, by Doorknob 冰
A rare sighting sorry gnibbler

I think he's deliberately trying to stay just active enough so that he can maintain his moderator throne
@Doorknob冰 Ah, already noted
Also a rare Twentieth Byte sighting

1:16 AM
Why is this place called the 19th byte anyway?

@RikerW Because the 19th hole on a golf course is the nearest bar

APL is too OP

30
A: Let's think of a creative name for our chatroom

dmckeeWell, the traditional generic name for the country club bar is "the nineteenth hole", which suggests The Nineteenth Byte or something like that.

it also has 19 bytes

Thanks @Bathtub冰, I mean @Doorknob冰.

1:18 AM
😏 (that is a smirking face)

@RikerW Oh, okay.

You on Christianity SE?

Me? No

Alex's religion is ornithology
7

@RikerW And why would you want my post altered anyway?

1:22 AM
@El'endiaStarman So it can be more ninja'ed.
Random question: Why does the PPCG logo say PCG?

Lazy SE designers, I'm sure.

> looks up question on SO

(Well, actually, I think it's due to space constraints.)

> accepted answer is by Chris Jester-Young

4 chars doesn't fit?

1:23 AM
@RikerW People used to call it that

It wouldn't be legible at favicon size.

@Calvin'sHobbies I've only ever seen 1, 2, and 3 char names

> starts singing "it's a small world"

@quartata rofl
I ask bc this question:
4
A: Make the PPCG Logo

RikerWBrainfuck, 120,148 bytes This answer is now non-competitive. This was before the rules were changed, and this has absolutely no hope of winning as code-golf. Brainfuck code to output hex value of image. Very, very, long. Here is a pastebin link, and the first couple lines. https://paste.ee/p...

Oops, that is my answer. Oh well.
But it says make the PPCG, but has a picture with PCG.

1:27 AM
o_O

Well yeah, but look:

But we are PPCG?
Or are we ...

That's just about as small as you can make the letters while keeping them legible.
@RikerW....try making a logo in that size (it's 16x16) and put "PPCG" in it. Then post it here and we'll judge it.

my youtube doesn't work ;-;
@El'endiaStarman Challenge accepted

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Oh no, you'll have to use WiiTube!
(Not Totally a real thing.)

1:30 AM
Oh darn.

@El'endiaStarman Actually it is.

@El'endiaStarman The Wii has a Youtube app.

1:33 AM
Slightly bigger but still sucky
Got to go now.
Bye.

@RikerW You're also using half-pixels...

input() prints out the input you type in so i can shave 8 bytes off. :) — AH L 3 mins ago
Why on earth did this comment get an upvote

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ That's not terrible. Good job.

sigh

1:34 AM
@El'endiaStarman Thanks! Pixel art is one of my hobbies.
because of TI-BASIC cough cough

A: Implement a Truth-Machine

AH LPython 2.7, 35 33 25 bytes x=input() while x:print x Works pretty well. Just realized that input() prints out the input for you when you type it in.

nuke pls

danke
I'm still not sure what he meant by "input() prints out the input for you"
I'm guessing he meant the terminal echo which is just weird
Either way it was wrong, tried it out

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@quartata The owner deleted it himself

1:38 AM
@AlexA. I noticed
But the downvote corrected his flawed thinking
What I don't get is how that comment he posted got an upvote within a minute of it being posted

what is the SE query-maker thing called?

SEDE

Data Explorer

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Stack Exchange Data Explorer

1:39 AM
@quartata a sock?

all three are valid names :P

Mine is the most complete

@ThomasKwa possibly

I win

"Stack Exchange" is implied
I win

No I win because mine was the golfiest

but it's less complete

But Googling "SEDE" yields no relevant results
So I still win

but "Stack Exchange" is implied so mine is golfier and more correct

xknob = xnor + Doorknob

1:41 AM
Alexknob

Doolex Denner

@Doorknob冰 The ultimate moderator

Is there a tutorial for SEDE?

@Doorknob冰 You forget gnibbler

There's this too, written by a fellow SE mod: home.jtan.com/~cellio/sede/tutorial.html
And it's actually SEDE-specific.

Oh, Monica Cellio!
Where is she a mod again?

yeah, ~cellio is definitely Monica
@AlexA. Judaism, I think

Ah, okay

maybe more
Oh, she has 4 diamonds :P

1:47 AM
Worldbuilding too, I think.

Workplace and Writers as well

@Doorknob冰 Whoa

Yeah, I knew she had at least 3. :P

@AlexA. Think that's a lot? You should talk to Rory :P
or ChrisF

I know ChrisF but not Rory

1:48 AM
I don't know how many either of them have.

Almost certain that's the record

@Doorknob冰 whoa

4 diamonds but one of them is SO, which counts extra :P

His profile description is legit.

1:49 AM
haha, yeah

Obviously SE employees win though.

They don't count as moderators. :P

> The only things that are holding me back are lack of time and resources!
Well, yeah, you're a mod on SO and three other sites, ChrisF...

haha

@Doorknob冰 This guy is pretty cool
> Previous Chairman of the Institute of Information Security Professionals
I don't know what that means but it sounds prestigious

1:51 AM
@Doorknob冰 vim 7.4 doesn't let me use backspace halp

@AlexA. use x you scrub

@AlexA. set nocompatible?
or just have a vimrc

I have a vimrc

@Doorknob冰 Yeah having a .vimrc automagically disables no-comp mode

1:51 AM
Then nocompatible should be set already

@AlexA. Hm.

are you sure it's being loaded?

uh

Try :set nocompatible anyways

Or just :set cp?
to check

1:52 AM
Or :so ~/.vimrc

@Doorknob冰 This gave me a ton of space on the side

Or just use x like a normal person

@AlexA. you left off the question mark

Oh sorry that's not helpful

@quartata I'm in insert mode

1:53 AM
... fix that, also

@AlexA. wtf

@Doorknob冰 I didn't realize you weren't asking a question

@AlexA. That's why the ? is code-formatted, although it's hard to tell :P

@quartata I was in the middle of writing something, accidentally hit enter, wanted to just backspace a single char

Anyway, if stuff changed when you did :set cp then you were in nocompatible anyway

1:53 AM
Hm.

nocompatible

Sometimes terminals munge delete chars.

This didn't happen until I upgraded to vim 7.4.

Oh.

1:54 AM
It worked fine with 7.3

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Oh, what a great idea!

Something is very messed up ._____.
I pressed tab and it gave me a tab

@AlexA. eets a sign

So maybe your vimrc isn't being loaded
try vim -u ~/.vimrc

Or just :so ~/.vimrc just to test

1:57 AM
pavlov:~ ararslan$ vim -u ~/.vimrc
Error detected while processing /Users/ararslan/.vimrc:
line    2:
E117: Unknown function: pathogen#infect
E15: Invalid expression: pathogen#infect()
line   14:
E185: Cannot find color scheme 'solarized'
Press ENTER or type command to continue

Then you won't have to exit vi
@AlexA. Oh OK

@AlexA. um

dafuq

@quartata ikr

Oh I see the problem.

1:58 AM
!
What is

When you updated you didn't reinstall vim-pathogen
I'm not sure why you had it in the first place
Maybe it comes with vi by default on OS X?

@quartata I'm pretty sure you don't have to do this

^

@Doorknob冰 No but he obviously was using it since his vimrc had it
Oh.
I see what you mean.
Hm.

@AlexA. so, backspace just doesn't do anything?

1:59 AM
It bonks at me
And does nothing else

it does what now

Bell

It makes the bonking terminal sound

\o/ 2nd downvote

@quartata oh haha
