da doubt?

@0celo7 It's funny that he seemed to refuse the notion of vectors in that question of his, but uses them everywhere

Am I the only one who double checks spelling before posting?

I look for the red squiggly lines under words
So yes, I spell check too

@0celo7 ::looks around site:: Yes.

@KyleKanos He's just a swell guy.
And how do you refuse the notion of vectors?
Seriously.

user54412
9:01 PM
I'm confused how there are apparently so many browsers out there that don't spell check.

Why use anything other than Chrome?

user54412
Or maybe most of the world is red-white colorblind and unable to see red squiqqly lines?

If I were to type perfect German, it would underline (almost) everything.
So I could not tell between perfect and not-so-perfect German.

@ChrisWhite We've been over this, I haven't yet found a convenient way to toggle between languages, so I don't use spell-check ;)

@ACuriousMind essentially this
And @ACuriousMind does a very good job without spell check.
hit the limit
Looks like there's 3 left

9:05 PM
@0celo7 the 20 reviews or the 24 close votes limit?

@ACuriousMind former

@0celo7 Thanks

@ACuriousMind you should have misspelled that one

Damn...your right.

@ACuriousMind Your proud of that?
fuck that was actually a typo

9:08 PM
@0celo7 No, not really, but it was better than nothing :/

I think my f key is finally fixed
Only took an hour of cleaning

Could have just bought a new one

@EmilioPisanty I think he means the mouth as the open end of the tube and the lungs as the closed end. What I think he is asking is how we make sound ie talk with that structure

@KyleKanos the gunk was in the keyboard itself, right under the f key

but the answer to why we are a half open tube is simply evolution imo

9:10 PM
I ended up having to put in the key, push it a dozen time, take it out, clean it, etc.

@0celo7 NB: Oblivion speedrun tomorrow at 1:15p EDT, twitch.tv/gamesdonequick

I could not get to the last bit of gunk
@KyleKanos wtf is NB? Nebenbei?

Nota Bene = Note Well

I see, thanks.

Nota bene (/ˈnoʊtɑːˈbɛnɛ/; plural form notate bene) is an Italian and Latin phrase meaning "note well". The phrase first appeared in writing circa 1721. Often abbreviated as "N.B.", "N.b." or "n.b.", nota bene comes from the Latin roots notāre ("to note") and bene ("well"). It is in the singular imperative mood, instructing one individual to note well the matter at hand. In present-day English, it is used, particularly in legal papers, to draw the attention of the reader to a certain (side) aspect or detail of the subject on hand, translating it as "pay attention" or "take notice". While "N.B....

9:11 PM
Kids today don't know their Latin anymore...

@ACuriousMind I took Latin...
Herr Rademacher would be ashamed of me now

Integer to which precision? — Qmechanic ♦ 22 mins ago

I believe he would

@ACuriousMind He hugged me when I left :( he was such a cool guy
Aww now you made me sad

9:13 PM
:(

@KyleKanos I don't see the issue.

I had to think for a few minutes about that

10001 is more precise than 10000, both are integers.
Assume the answer is 10001.345.
Is that wrong?

Remember, I am a "see-ess guy" so my thoughts are about floats

@0celo7 I would feel bad for that, but, well, feelings:
2 hours ago, by ACuriousMind
I had those once.

You psychopath
You faked an emotion!

Who is flagging those Duffield posts?

@0celo7 :)

Flagging?

@0celo7 10k+ chat flags

@ACuriousMind You won't fool me this time

9:16 PM
Earn it buddy

@0celo7 :(

I'm not a spider.

You've only got like 7k rep to go

@ACuriousMind Is disappointment an emotion? Can psychopaths feel disappointment?

9:18 PM
@0celo7 Well, I think they feel disappointment when their plans go wrong, or something.
I don't know, my plans never went wrong ;)

oh god
He planned all of this

Bwahahahahaha

Physikerreich when?
All engineers are to be shot with proton accelerators

@ACuriousMind What about high-functioning sociopaths?

All liberal arts majors are to be enslaved
All math majors are to be enslaved and will work on physics math
oh the horror

9:20 PM
@0celo7 No, they're useful slaves. Unlike the liberal arts majors.

user54412
Huh? I thought we needed liberal arts majors to make us coffee.

Only until the engineers have built robots that make us coffee.

tfw I'm going to be a coffee robot builder
I'm only through the second module of this crap
Freaking PSE chat distracting me

@0celo7 A nuclear coffee robot builder!

@ACuriousMind Now with 15% less alpha rays!

9:25 PM
@0celo7 Can it make tea, too, or do I need a Nutri-Matic to do that?

@HDE226868 Just drink a Nuka Cola.
> With the freedom to make adult decisions
I'm not even an adult.

then why are you reading HE
sounds like a poor decision for a child

@Slereah Is that an adult book?

It's the adultest

HE has some index porn in it alright

9:28 PM
Perhaps only sold in the dark corners of book stores?

I mean all teens want to see boobies
But who wants to see topology

Wow, I love stereotypes!
2
Topology is cool.

topology is shit
I mean, it's not even calculus

. . . nobody got the Dr. Who reference?

you're the biggest nerd in here

9:29 PM
Yep.

Debatable. :P

(neeeerd)

since topology does not use calculus a high schooler can do it
I mean c'mon
anything that does not use calculus is just algebra, right?

pretty much
I mean topology is like

yeah, and no one likes algebra

9:30 PM
Hey, this high schooler's doing multivariable senior year! Back off. :P

Drawing potatoes around points
Not hard

@0celo7 "just"

QED no one likes HE

@0celo7 I dare you to make a remark about algebra in the math chat room.

@HDE226868 watch

9:31 PM
You may call that "just" after you've read through something like Hartshorne for me ;)

if you want to see the best math in all physics papers

I'll wait for the flags.

how do I get to math chat?

I would recommend the Stuperspace paper
It is the best

@0celo7 If you knew topology, maybe you could find a path there, because chat is pretty simply connected. . .

9:32 PM
hah

Actually, it isn't, come to think of it. Is it?
How could I prove that . . . ?

no clue

My favourite connectedness joke (yes, that's a thing!) (yes, 0celo7, it is what you probably think).

what should I say
@ACuriousMind :D I'm getting good at this

"We use the following notation : Greek letters for vile spinor indices, Roman letters for isospin indices, Cyrillic letters for vector indices, Hebrew letters for 10-dimensional vector indices, Roman numerals for Dirac spinor indices"
It is my favorite index joke of all times

9:34 PM
index joke?

"Also, we use the metric (+--+-+++--+-+x=→←/⊕⊗--)."
It is the only metric convention I use

>Reaganomic symmetry
@Slereah srs, I don't get the index joke

@ACuriousMind Haha.

my favorite AG joke is probably
2
"Using superfields, the calculation is trivial, so we will just quote the result:

Γ = ☎-1ΨΨ̄,

where ☎ is the telephone operator."
snort

9:39 PM
@Slereah Not sure that's a joke ;)

that entire paper is great

@Slereah is that funny or is the next line funny

" Quark Kent, Faddeev-Popov ghosts in the Phantom Zone using the Metropolis algorithm, Krypton J. Phys. 137 (1938) 777."
The bibliography is alos great
M. Spock, Wormhole production in time warps and its application to graviton-klingon scattering, Proc. Vulcan Acad. Sci. 3427561 (7943.6) 192.

> Angler and Trout, Kibbles for Piggs and Hoggs, Field
and Stream 79 (1964) 329.

The Super Genius Samuel Wade Boothe Junior has to be mentioned in this context.

> For convenience (ours, not yours) we restrict
ourselves to on-sh.ell background fields, which is
sufficient for our purposes (namely, getting this
paper written).

Argh
Typewriter paper
I hate those so much

Damn, that scan seems to be incomplete.

I. Nonabel, Semisimple groups (A & P, New York, 1856).
Ah, so that is where Nonabelian comes from!
(dohoho)

@HDE226868 found the math chat
What should I say about algebra?

Nothing, they don't understand fun as we do here, cf. recent starred messages here

9:46 PM
@ACuriousMind I shall try
"Since abstract algebra does not use calculus (by definition) and people learn calculus in high school, can't middle schoolers learn abstract algebra? Remind me why you guys need PhDs in this stuff?"

@0celo7 I'll wait for them to flag your posts as offensive. . . :-)

Does this mean OP actually came here before reading Wikipedia? Not sure if I'm angry or flattered.

I hate you

Lol, <10k peasants.

@ACuriousMind lol, DE peasant can't listen to music
Seriously?
Are they trying to profile potential criminals in the student body?

Mr. Kanos, I was just reading the posting "Induced Voltage By Dropped Magnet" in Physics Stack Exchange. I note that the author's note has been put on hold. If you follow that author's link, you will find that he is asking for help on his college lab report.

in the real world you go talk to the waiters

@DavidWhite The @ (and linking) works in chat just like on the main site, so you should write @KyleKanos to get Kyle's attention.

9:53 PM
@Slereah college $\not\subset$ real world

@0celo7 Sounds likely.

Thanks

@0celo7 What do they pretend this is for?

@ACuriousMind The school needs to improve freshman retention to boost rankings.
This is supposed to make us feel better/secure/some bullshit.

Personally I blame the poor state high schools for the dropout rate. I'd have to see data sorted by student home state to verify this of course.

@ACuriousMind, et. al., you are speaking EXACTLY to my point. I am a high school physics teacher who is trying mightily to also teach good study habits to my students.

The weird thing about the stuperspace paper is that it was published in a real journal

Also a whole fuckload of LGBT/diversity stuff. I guess rural Tennessians don't like that stuff.

and it wasn't even april 1st
