Personally for writing full dates I use 01 Jan 2014 for example.

@tchrist Ah, that represents the format I use, 2 digits, 3 letters, 4 digits.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31.

No such number as 01.
