@CowperKettle It’s the fabric that’s distressed, e.g., distressed denim. Today this is often done mechanically, or with machines. Thus you can find jeans that have exactly the same tears or marks of wear in the fabric as an other pair.

There's probably not a single movie I can recommend after 2010.
More propaganda, less substance, definitely less substance, and right now these horseshit movies that pass for comedy but are really rather uncouth reactions to the uptight religious status quo
There were a few movies decades ago that passed for pre-SW sci-fi with very low budget but still with a good heart and often a good lead.

There were a few shows in the eighties, 2000–2005, that IIRC based their plot on sci-fi things, like this show "Travelers" which was about aliens visiting Earth, unaccustomed to any of the unsaid social traditions and tricks, but it had little to no CGI, and I wouldn't call it sci-fi
