11:00 AM
Sorry.

No, it's not an accusation; it's a question.

@Vitaly I agree.
The trick about problem-solving is finding interesting problems to solve; the best are those that provide short- and medium-term insights but lead to a long-term satisfaction because of discoveries that lead to new knowledge and capabilities.
Yet even figuring out a new way to take out the trash yields its rewards.

@DavidWallace Something about your style of thought whenever syntax comes up in discussions. I find it hard to pinpoint the feeling, but maybe it's because I haven't seen you come up with sentences to support or falsify some grammatical analysis.

OK, that's an excellent answer.
I am certainly untrained in the dark arts of grammatical analysis.
I know only enough linguistics to endanger myself therewith.

@Robusto Hmm, I took the hunting to be derived from hunter-gatherer. I find problem-solving inherently rewarding because my mind's comfortable in the “hunting” mode.

11:21 AM
@DavidWallace I'm only one data point :D if many people agree with me, perhaps consider it.

Yeah, nobody else has offered me an opinion on the fish.

Q: Is this Batman equation for real?

a_hardinHardOCP has an image with an equation which apparently draws the Batman logo. Is this for real?

The first answer to that question is awesome!

indeed :D

@DavidWallace I saw a bit of New Zealand vs. Samoa in some football-like game on TV the other night. Was that rugby?

The rep I got from the "please yourself" question is certainly pleasing myself.

@Robusto Umm, it might have been. Do you know when the match was played? Could it have been "rugby sevens" maybe?
The most common form of Rugby football is a 15-a-side game that lasts 80 minutes. But there are two other forms. One is a 7-a-side game that lasts either 14 or 20 minutes. One is a 13-a-side game that lasts 80 minutes.
But if it was NZ vs Samoa, it was probably 7-a-side.

@DavidWallace It was three or four days ago, IIRC.

3:53 PM
Hi.

4:11 PM
I won't say hi because I found out it's a trick. You say hi and flee as soon as someone replies.

Like when?

Like yesterday.

I don't remember.

Was it someone else?
Oh, it was Otavio!

Hi, Cerb.

Hello!

4:38 PM
Hello people!

Hi!

How are you this evening?

Good, good. And you? How is your cold?

Eh, I'm still not quite at feeling 100%, but the cold is mostly gone. I am going to work today, so I'm well enough to work.

Ah OK.
You won't cough and sneeze on people's food?
Or wait, did you quit that job?

4:47 PM
I've not quit.
No, I won't cough or sneeze on the food.

OK, and good.
How is your Smash Bros going?
Still playing Link all the time?

Yep. My French teacher said he might come by and buy some KFC.
@Cerberus Of course!

@Mahnax Oh that will be funny.

@Cerberus I played at school with a friend yesterday, that was fun. She kept jumping off of the edge though.

Yeah I hate edges too.

4:50 PM
@Cerberus Yes, it'll be interesting, at least.

That's why I always play the Spaceship.

I'm getting better at not falling off.
But the Spaceship is still my favourite, for its sheer size.

Yeah!
I do like playing other characters for a change.
Like Pikachu. Or Roy.

I occasionally use Samus.

Or Samus.
Jinx!

4:53 PM
sighs

My cousin always played Fox or Samus.
He preferred them, probably considered them the best.

There's your Coca-Cola.
@Cerberus Ugh, I can't play as Fox.

Oh God...what is that!?
I haven't much experience with Samus or Fox.

A coffee Coke.
It didn't do very well.

Yuck.
I mean, I appreciate it.

4:56 PM
Heh.
You don't have to fake appreciation, I'll get you something else.
grumbles
There you are.

Yay!
Weird, but better.
I'm such an impolite guest.

Gues?

Oops.
Guinness, I meant Guinness.

Hehe. They only sold Citra in Bosnia & Herzegovina, New Zealand, and Japan.

I don't know, I fancy a slice of lemon in my coke.
Without looking at the title, does this resemble Canadian coins?
I wonder how easy it is for people to recognize their own coins.
Because all I ever see is Euro coins. And guilders in the past.

5:12 PM
No, not really.
I could tell those were Euros as soon as I looked at them.

Oh really?
Not just any coin other than CAD?

Oh, yeah. I knew they were Euros.

OK.

Mostly, I recognized the edges of the coins.

Hmm don't other coins have those?
French francs had them.
Guilders did not.
Don't know about other currencies.

5:15 PM
I've not seen many other coins, but I could tell those were Euros.

Because you have often been to Europe?

Yeah.

OK.
I would have no idea what a heap of Canadian or American coins looked like.

Hehe.

Hmm these look quite different. Thin, and all yellow metal.

5:19 PM
Speaking of coins, I have a a coin collection album.

Oh cool.
Some rare coins?

Uhum.

Nice.
Like which?

5:32 PM
Work time, bye!

Bai!

6:04 PM

Wow! They look very nice.
All shimmering and splendid.
BRB.

Uhum.
Okay.

6:35 PM
What's the opposite of a crowded bus/train/street?

@Meysamرهادربند What's wrong with empty?

Yeah.
Or quiet.

Or not crowded.
Uncrowded?

@Gigili Doesn't it mean there is no one in there?

Whatever.

6:41 PM
I would say "an almost-empty bus/train", "a quiet street".
Or empty, whichever is applicable (a few people or no people).

What Cerb said.

and deserted?

That is possible. But it is an exaggeration of empty.
A deserted bus/train, for example, would have no driver or anyone in it.

Whereas an "empty" train could be almost empty.
A deserted street is a common rhetorical exaggeration.

That's not empty, that Marilyn Monroe

@Robusto NZ played Samoa in soccer a couple of days ago. But I can't imagine you mistaking soccer for rugby football.
NZ last played Samoa at Rugby on 3 Sept 2008. NZ last played Samoa at Rugby League (13-a-side) on 16 Oct 2010. But they had several games of Rugby Sevens earlier this year; so you may have seen a replay of one of these. Sevens is usually played in a tournament with 16 teams over 2 days. It's structured so that each team gets 6 games. In February and March, the teams go all round the world playing one tournament a week.
Many of the tournaments take place in cities that are not normally known for Rugby, including Las Vegas and Hong Kong.
@Mahnax I've never seen it, and I've spent a lot of time in TWO of those three countries.

11:53 PM
Which would be correct: 'there goes our graduates' or 'there go our graduates'?
