Q: One “airing” or one “broadcast” of a TV commercial?

AnonymouseHow should I describe a singular appearance of a commercial in television? Should it be one “airing” today and seven “airings” in total in this week or maybe one “broadcast” today and seven “broadcasts” in total? Or maybe there is a third, better word?

Q: Word to describe someone who is unintentionally entertaining because of their lack of eloquence or intelligence?

MontiEssentially an "entertaining oaf by accident", but I imagine there is a more complex word to describe that.

@Mitch Wargs are the things orcs ride in LOTR. I'm not a geek that way; it really looked like one, in the dark....maybe 1:24 scale...I dunno. Maybe it hypnotized me.

Q: Political catchwords used to misguide?

Edwin LiI remember reading a Wikipedia article about a linguistic category of catchwords used in politics which refer to ill-defined ideas. They are left purposefully vague so their exact meaning is left unanswered but sound nice and are used to attract rapport. I've forgotten the term and would like t...

Q: Is there a word or expression for limiting users intentionally

LarsI was discussing the phenomenon of when different platforms has an arbitrary limit (140 signs in a tweet or 7 second video on Vine), that the end users embrace in a way that ends up shaping the platform. Does any of you know a word or expression describing this?

5:35 PM
@KannE 'not in a geek way'? You revealed your true nature at 'LOTR'.
Wait. You revealed yourself by participating in chat.

5:54 PM
@Mitch Dang, the acronym gave me away! I knew you'd notice that...ha-ha, really I did...but I'd rather be a geek than type more letters...wait, that's contradictory...
@Mitch I can also assure you that it didn't look anything like a Hedwig, Scabbers...or mini Chewbacca.

@Cerberus How often? Hasn't happened to me. Do you use functions?
Actually, that sounds improbable to me.
Ugh, who did star that "winter is coming" message? It's depressing and stressful, especially when you find yourself looking at it every day.

@RegDwigнt Actually most of the views I have are self-views. Unfortunately, there is no way not to count self-views even when you are logged into youtube. But I will keep this channel for a long time and make many videos in the days to come.
@MetaEd It is OK just that hatred will lead to suffering.

@Gigili I think it happens when I have a list of dates in Excel that are formatted as text, and then I set the format to date. Or the reverse. I think that's when it happens, but I haven't tried it in a long time.

@Cerberus What version of Office are you using?
I think Office 2019 will be released in 2 weeks, but that can only run on Windows 10, not earlier versions.

@JasperLoy 2003.

@Cerberus Ah, I see. 2007 is the first version where the appearance of Office changes. I like the ribbon look, but many people don't.

I thought the ribbon came later?

8:26 PM
@Cerberus Nope.
Microsoft Office 2007 (codenamed Office 12) is a version of Microsoft Office, a family of office suites and productivity software for Windows, developed and published by Microsoft. It was released to manufacturing on November 3, 2006; it was subsequently made available to volume license customers on November 30, 2006, and later to retail on January 30, 2007, the same respective release dates of Windows Vista. It was preceded by Office 2003 and succeeded by Office 2010. Office 2007 introduced a new graphical user interface called the Fluent User Interface, which uses ribbons and an Office menu instead...

Can we have another of this question, but without the political context? I think it muddied the answers except for Peter Shor's and I think we'd be better served with fresh answers. I've seen its appropriate use in competitive gaming, such as Magic: the Gathering and Smash Bros. "Mine to lose" would mean that I'm in a situation where I've endured (or at least I've appeared to have endured, but that assumes we account for epistemological concerns) all circumstantial variance that contributes to the outcome of some contest and come out ahead with my luck and/or skill. As per the phrase, the o

@Mitch Well its a character who is commenting on peoples natural "flaws". Don't shoot the messenger.
:)
