"Hänschen klein" is a traditional German folk song and children's song originating in the Biedermeier period of the 19th century. The title translates to English as "Little Hans". Originally it told of a juvenile who ventures to the world and returns as a man to his family. It gained much more popularity around 1900, when the following abridged textual version came to be adopted as the very first song to be taught to small children, whether at home or in kindergarten. Now it is about a small boy, who is going away but returns immediately to hearth and home, since his mother, left alone, b...

They work off of stamina, ya?

There you go.
Ayup.

What sort of decks are popular? Same ones as in arena?

1:11 PM
Yeah, pretty much so. All kinds. We've even seen a few people with empty decks (Commander only).
Anyhow, you're in.
I dunno if you have to reload or something.

Nope, I can see it.

Then look under "Factions" -> "Wars" -> "Active wars".

And am now looking at... apparently very unused chat logs :)

@MrHen Haha, yes.

How do points work?
Ah... surge is clever
So... is there some strategy in using stamina, or just use it all up as often as possible?

1:13 PM
Yeah. First of all, you spend 10 stamina per every battle you start, whether on "fight" or on "surge".

Mmk

Secondly, "fight" means that you go first. If you win, you typically get some 25 points. "Surge" means the opponent goes first. If you win, you get some 35-45 points.
Now the most important part is this, and I didn't know this myself until very recently:
if you are hopelessly losing a battle, click on the "surrender" button.

Eh?

If the enemy kills you off, he gets some 25 points. If you surrender, he only gets 10.

@RegDwight Ah, interesting

1:15 PM
I didn't know that until just a few weeks ago, and we lost quite a few wars because of that.

So I assume the trick in building a defense deck is one that works well with autoplay
Oh, cool, I can see the defense numbers already

I would say so.

I wish they split it up though

There are all kinds of strategies for defense. But the main idea is, once you have several people, the best thing is for them to use different defense decks.

So, do I get loyalty for defense wins?
@RegDwight Ah, good point
So what do you guys have for decks?

Q: What is correct syntax with 'entail'?

Glorious MundayMy instinct is that when it means "to have as an inescapable consequence", entail must be followed by a noun. In all the grammatical examples I have come across this is how it is used — without it being specifically remarked upon. For example: This responsibility entails hard work. ...

a fine question, but needs more votes from people who aren't grammatically ignorant
IOWs, please upvote Rhodri and drm65, and downvote the other guy

I like not having to do my own pimping :-)

1:30 PM
I upvoted the question, at least

1:48 PM
@MrHen I usually do, but there've been at least three wars in which I used "fight" exclusively because I just couldn't win on surge. So giving them 10pts after 10pts after 10pts was kind of pointless.
Basically, you just have to do the math. Surge is harder, but if you can win just one battle in four (and only surrender, not lose the other three), then it's a net gain, however minor.
On the other hand, "fight" is usually a walk in the park, and gets you some 25 points.
So, it depends. Pure math.

Actually, I am enjoying the faction stuff so far
It is more challenging than arena...
... which isn't saying much. :P

Yeah, arena is quite stupid after a certain point.
Once you have a somewhat decent deck, you just turn on auto, and collect points like stupid.
Can't do that in wars.
In fact, you don't even need a decent deck in the arena. Just turn on auto and fight only people with higher ratings. Even if you lose, you won't lose points.
And if you win, you get an instant +10.
